So, a thought I had.
Might it be necessary to have a Main RP subforum?
It might attract users to be able to straight up see the active RPing, and not a dead main forum page.
Why not just have the Main RP in the main forum?

That would cause massive clutter and dis-array.

What I mean is that if the main roleplay was in the instruction/welcome/basic functions area it would be confusing and hard to navigate. Too many threads in one forum makes my eyes hurt.

I've been brainstorming with a few ideas here and come up with some ideas, so here we go: 1.) I think a panel of NPC characters would help with the RP. The idea was actually inspired by guys like Zahn, Anderson and several others writing the EU books. For example, Zahn's got Talon Karrde and his organization, who pretty much only appear when he's the "GM". That way, theres always a mod character available in the RP, no matter what's going on, so we can keep the game on track, and also, it would cut down on some of the OOC chatter in the RP threads (And we know how much I hate that). It would work like this: One NPC per Mod per Faction leading to a panel in each faction, so there's almost always a mod available to both help the RP along, and watch for potential trouble.
2.) Like I told Euler, no matter how much power and control a government/corperation has, there will always be a few that slip below the radar, so to speak. The Mafia, the Black Market, Pirates, Smugglers and the like operated through the Empire's reign and the Republic's (Both old and new) and I sincerely doubt a bunch of corperate types would be able to stop that where the others failed. That said, although the corperation controls all air/space traffic legally, there will always be some that they can't control, and there would be ships that they can't regulate...usually custom jobs built by smuggler types. But, of course, there is a price for such things...namely a good chance of prison or death. When dealing with the underworld there's certain ettiquette that must be upheld, because the mafia can make people dissapear whenever they feel like it, more or less. It is important to note, however, that this should be portrayed in a dark tone...this ain't glamourous, it's crime, and in the style of the Galaxy Far Far Away, that's to be portrayed as a bad thing.
3.) The Jedi Order and the Sith are gonna have to be restrained...severely. I'm thinking something like a die roll or something like that to represent the randomness of Force Sensitivity in the "Real" SW universe. That said, there's also another thought to consider: In the timeframe we're working with, there is only ONE Jedi, and that is Luke Skywalker. If it's early on, there's no way for potential Jedi to really get training other than through him. Also, the Sith "rule of two" is in effect, and thus there should only EVER be TWO Sith in the galaxy...anybody else would be a Dark Jedi/Force User.
If implemented correctly, these could lead to a really well done RP, that's actually believeable for those who are really well versed in the SW Cannon, as well as those who've only seen the movies.

What he said. Basically, that'll be a good way to stop any rampant rper from having uber Force powers.

Sounds like a good idea Honh, but, of course, ain't my call to make really. Still, I know I would do it myself, but I'm just a bit short of computer illiterate.

Haha, well I'm a noob when it comes to Star Wars so I can't really help with the technical stuff. Seen the six movies, read a few books post six and they were pretty good. Other than that, I'll just try and help however I can sweatdrop

Heh, Trizen, I'm even more of a novice than you. My only experience is the movies. Well, that and a voracious appetite for Wookieepedia, so I might be on par with some of the more well-read of you.
@Honh: Yes, a banner would be excellent! Also, the PL system is designed for that.
