Exactly as the title states. These are the open seas. Departing from the beach of Ria high, as you venture further and further out, you obviously find yourself in deep and deeper water, until eventually there's no land in sight. Then you're in the open seas. Beware for pirates and navy ships giving you trouble.
There's various ports you can visit as well. More info to be added.

Edward glanced up when he heard Hans aproching and he gave him a slight nod for a hello. To be honest, he was completely tired and really needed a rest, so he had been hoping that someone would show up to let him take a break. However, no one had even come upstairs but Hans the WHOLE TIME, and it was really ticking him off, no one else had offered to take the hand for the being and he hadn't outrightly said that he wanted to be captain. Hans didn't really help with his ticked-off mood, mostly because Edward hated to be challenged...even if it was something that he didn't want, more-over he hated to be bossed-around. He sighed though, he would have to be bossed around if there was to be another captain. "I don't know exactly how much of those things we have, but I know that Love couldn't carry that much with our clothes. So we'll definatly need to make a stop soon before we get attacked...god knows everyone on this ship has dirty pasts. We are all pirates; and to be honest, I don't want to be captain at all, but at the same time, I'm not sure I'm willingly go to allow you to be captain. I have no personal bad feelings towards you, and right now my anger is more at the fact that I have yet to get any sleep. So you can have it, if you can get Alex to agree with you" he finished off with a yawn. "I'm sorry Hans, it just seems fair that way, but thanks for the rum and sleep! See you later Savvy" he said as he walked off and down to the cabins again. He took the bunk above Love and passed out as soon as he touched the rough matress, he would probably wake up after noon though. Edward never could sleep much.
Love stirred when she heard her brother climb above her bed and pass out, finally. To be honest she loved to sleep! But no, now things were settled, and she needed to get up and start making breakfast. She could see that Alex was still asleep and Hans was gone, he was probably the one that was stearing the ship now. She stiffled a yawn as she ran her fingers through her messy hair and stood up streatching. She quietly walked back upstairs wanting Alex to get her sleep, even if they didn't trust each other so much, Alex seemed to be good. She glanced at Hans when she reached the top... he was still a mystery, but he hadn't gone back on his word yet, so...she trusted him. She was probably foolish, but she wanted to believe that one of her crewmates wasn't un-trustworthy. "Morning Jonathan! Or do you prefer Hans?" she asked as she stood by his...station. "What do you want for breakfast? I didn't bring much...but I've got a few things." she said brightly as she grinned, she was well-rested so she felt better all-around.

Alex's eyes fluttered open slowly and she glanced around to find that Edward was now below deck and Hans and Love were both gone. Her hands moved up to rub at her eyes, then dropped back in her lap. She'd slept in her jacket, so she shifted one hand over and felt for the map, finding with relief that it was still there. Her weapons were all still strapped to her waist as well, which may not have been too smart, but she didn't care really. She swung her feet to the side, stuck them in her boots, laced them up, and hopped out of her hammock.
As she walked by Edward, she leaned rather close, looking him over. She was actually checking for any visible injuries. There was no way she'd trust Hans after one night, and he had said he wanted to become captain. But, she didn't see anything but the steady rise and fall of Edward's chest. So she sighed and wandered back over to her trunk. She undid the lock that held it closed and rooted around its contents. A moment later, she withdrew a compass. She flipped it open and stared at it, standing and walking a few paces in the direction it indicated. Then she turned and went back, dropping to her knees in front of the chest and sorting through a bit more. Perhaps she wasn't even sure what she sought.

"See you round, thanks for being more agreeable than disagreeable! I much prefer it this way than having any hostilities between crewmates!" Hans called out happily. If he was lucky, he could manage to get the ship as captain, as long as Alex was cooperative. He had enough rum to bribe her loyalty if he wanted. She seemed to enjoy the stuff and treat it like gold, but he wanted her to moderate her intake. He took a deep breath of the salty air and smiled. He felt most at home from the helm of the ship or in the captain's cabin. He took a look at the map next to the turn wheel and surveyed their position with a compass. He made a few slight adjustments, gave the wheel a small turn, and was satisfied in the direction they were headed.
When Hans was greeted by Love, he gave a bright and happy smile despite the scars and the badage on his torso that showed through the gap of his coat. "Ah Love, I don't much care what ye call me so long as it not be scoundrel, because a pirate among pirates shouldn't fear such rude names! But anyways, I guess you'll gladly take up crew chef then? Check the galley for any eggs or something, I don't much care so long as the food is warm and filling! And take a few bottles of rum and pass them around to those awake, okay?" He asked with a smile. He then surveyed their route and gave the wheel another small twist to keep them on course. Groggy Isle was only a few nautical miles off and they could probably make it there by the end of the day. "Oh, and before ye go, keep this as a fair warning for you and Alex, we might take on a few womanizers, but I'll try and take care of you two... we need all the crew we can get!" With that, he returned to navigating the ship.

Edward opened his eyes when he heard Alex walking away again, he had been fake sleeping for a moment when he heard he stir, which had caused him to wake up. He wasn't sure why she was close for a moment, but figured it wasn't anything important, but he did see her look at her compass. Why would she need to know what direction she was going at? Then he remebered about a story he had overheard his father telling a navy officer. It was about this special compass that would give you directions to what ever you most wanted. So then what was she looking for that was so important? Alex was pretty secreative...or not, he hadn't actually talked to her much he thought with a frown. He sat up as he rubbed his eyes a bit and then climbed back down to the ground as he walked over to her. "Morning" he said simply as he stood next to chest while she rummaged through it. "So...is that one of those compasses...? I heard a story once that someone who wanted something bad enough would be able to find it with a weird compass." he added as he glanced back to her. Edward wondered if it would work to find his father...but then...would it work even then? Was finding his father what he really wanted the most...it probably was for Love, but lately Edward's mind had strayed. "So what are you looking for? I'll tell you if you tell me" he asked again, hoping that she would tell him if he told her a little.
Love blinked, suddenly distracted as she looked at his body, or rather his torso, it was covered in scars and it looked like he had bleed through it almost! "Wh-What?!" she yelled suddenly as she tugged on a loose end of it slightly. "How did you get so many? ...don't they go away?" she questioned as she looked up at him, obviously shocked, and Love being Love, a little sad. "Oh-er. Wait a second though" she added as she rushed off to the kitchen area. She quickly started a mass grouping of eggs, cut up some bread, and some fish. They really didn't have much, but it would do if they were hungry, she then grabbed some rum bottles, peeked into the cabin and grinned as she handed them in a hurry to Edward and Alex, giving her brother their usual hug before dissapearing. They always hugged each other every morning because thier mother had made them when they were little and had fought often. Love walked back up to him, as she slightly caught her breath, she hadn't slowed down after she ran off "Okay, tell me now" she said with a slightly nervous laugh.

Hans sighed when she seemed so sad about his scars and the wound on his stomach. When she tugged at the loose end, he almost slapped her hand away. "Please don't tug it... I'm probably going to need to get fresh bandages too... We might want to get a crew medic in Groggy Isle..." He muttered. It was easy to ignore the pain when he was distracted by something like pleasurable company, food, or taking the helm. When she arrived with the eggs, bread, and fish, he took it and asked, "You mind taking the helm while I eat? Just keep us on course for Groggy Isle..." He said lightly, letting go of the wheel and sitting on the deck, stuffing down eggs and fish. "Now then... Ye want to know about the scars and the wound? Well... A lot of the scars are old... I got this one in an old fight with a gunslinger..." He said, pulling his coat off his left shoulder, showing a cluster of three puncture wounds the size of bullets. It had scabbed over and the bones had healed, but the skin would take a long time to repair. "But that's old news... What I'm sure you're interested in is this..." He said, lightly pulling the cloth from his stomach and showing a long cut that crossed from his rib to his hip. "Nearly lost my guts if not for a crewman helping me... Died after tying it off though..." He said quietly. He took a few bites of the bread and gave a satisfied sigh. "And a lot of these are stories I'm forbidden by the code to tell..." He said simply.

Alexia turned her head as she heard footsteps, glanced up at Edward, then faced her trunk again. She continued rummaging through until she realized he was standing next to her. Then she let it close with a small thud. Still crouched in front of it, she peered up at him silently for a few seconds, the compass still in one hand. Finally she shrugged, rising to her feet. She was still shorter, and had to tilt her head back lightly to see his face. "Why should I?" she mumbled. It was none of his business what her compass could do. But then again, if they were going to be crewmates... And it wasn't that large a secret anyway. They'd figure it out eventually, especially because she'd need their help soon enough.
So she started to cave and tell him, when Love suddenly appeared and ran in, giving her a bottle of rum and hugging Edward, before dashing off again. Alex stared at her blankly, then shook her head. Tucking a strand of blonde hair behind her ear, she looked up at Edward again. "Treasure," she replied simply. "Tha's all. I jus' wanna know where this map leads to." She crouched again, balancing the plate she'd been given upon her knees, and began to eat.

Love paid attention to his stories of how he got all of his scars, they ranged in what was expected as a normal pirate and more...tragic ones. "I'm sorry, I haven't...actually got into much trouble...but then again I don't think I've been out to sea as much as you and Alex" she added thinking. She then quickly turned her attention back to the wheel though as she kept her focus to the sea, for the most part. The only thing she really wanted anymore was to see her father, while she had told Edward that she agreed with his hatred, that wasn't the case. To be honest, all she wanted was to be a little girl with a father again, but she wouldn't really be able to do that. She knew it too, but what else could she do, she knew that she'd meet up with her father soon again because Edward was as determined as she was. "Well! Why don't you go ahead and go down stairs? We need to see how many things that we need when we land...which should be soon" she added with a slight nod, but she really just wanted to be alone with her thoughts.
Edward had finished his food up quickly and nodded his head "I can understand that, I've known more than one girl that only has eyes for her treasure. As long as they don't forget that there's more to the sea than money" he added. "Well, I'm going to go wonder a bit, so I'll see you later" he said as he stood up and collected their empty plates, dissapearing to the kitchen.

Hans took a deep breath and stood up. "Right... I guess I'll take manifest and see how many cannons are aboard this thing..." He said lightly, wandering below decks. Within an hour, he had found they had twenty cannons, ten on each side, double layered to have two rows and five columns on each side. They had a few cattle for milk, oranges to deal with scurvy should it happen, and basic provisions for at least a week all around. He found the powder room and noted a few hundred pounds of gun powder, and around a hundred cannon balls. He sighed and decided to keep the information to himself since he'd do most of business for them. He was about to walk to the very tip of the boat and look out for land, but soon felt three blades, formed in a triangle by three pirates around his head. "Ohhh boy... This ain't good is it...?" He muttered with a small grin. He soon dropped out from under and kicked one away by the stomach, grabbed the other two by the wrist, and forced their blades into each other's hearts. He took the blades and noticed that they were under attack. The good new, it must mean they were near Groggy Isle, the bad news, they were under attack. "ALL HANDS ON DECK! WE'VE BEEN BOARDED!" He shouted, then looked to the right, seeing a small ship next to their's. "DELAY THAT ORDER! ALL MEN TO THE CANNONS! I'LL HOLD THEM OFF! TAKE OUT THE SHIP!" He ordered. He immediately rushed to Love and practically hauled her to the below decks and slammed the doors, locking them quickly as more men appeared atop the deck. He was really going to have his hands full.

Alex glanced up at him once, then waved her hand lightly as he left. More to sea that money? Whatever. She knew for certain that that's what she wanted most of all right now. More than becoming captain, more than returning to her old ship, more than anything. She finished up the last of her meal and put the padlock back in place to keep her trunk secure. The barrel of rum was still tied down in place beside it, and she had a bottle of rum in her hand, that Love had just given her. She eyed it almost uncertainly, then stuffed her compass into her pocket, picked up her plate, and took it and the rum up on deck with herself. First she deposited the plate in the kitchen. And then she went about exploring the ship.
She steered clear of anyone at first, preferring solitude for now. She just wandered the deck not really paying attention. She sighed and flipped open the compass, watching a moment as the needle swerved, and then pointed to her left. She turned, and immediately saw that was not the direction they were headed. "Must be goin' to stock up," she murmured to herself. She felt kind of ill informed, and she didn't like it. And then she suddenly heard Hans shouting. She turned and looked in his direction, eyes widening as she saw what was going on. She drew her sword and a second later there was a grunt from behind her, followed by a thud. She spun around and saw a woman standing there, tugging her sword out of a man's back.
Allison Sharpe looked up with a grin. "I recommend you get to someplace safe, missy." And then she was off. "Hans! Seems like I came at a good time!" This left Alex standing there as a stream of others followed the woman, fighting off people. Alex did, in fact, start trying to make her way to the cabin, or below deck, or somewhere, but soon found herself crossing blades with someone as well. She was good one on one, but when it got to be much more than that, she started having trouble. And it certainly was chaotic now.

Hans ducked a few swipes and soon managed to make two enemies wound each other, finsihing them both off with quick stabs. He then rolled for one fallen pirate's pistol and took it, firing the shot off at one pirate that was swinging to board. He suddenly slashed at his back and heard a thump as he beheaded the man. He then heard a strange and familiar voice. "The lovely Lady Sharpe, my, what an honor!" He called out, bowing and at the same time, impaling a man. "If you call this a good time, I'd hate to see your idea of a bad time Lady!" He shouted with a smile as he parried three blades at once and decapitated their owners in one fluid swing.
As he fought, he noticed his cannons weren't firing and that the tide from the enemy vessel was never ending. "Sharpe! Get to your ship, command cannons to fill that b*****d ship full off cannon balls with a broadside volley! Go!" He ordered, running over to help Alex, who was beginning to be overwhelmed. He dispatched three quickly with no effort, then was assailed by another three going after her, as well as the two that survived his first attack. "Alex! Keep your guard up on all sides, don't let anyone get near your backside!" He shouted, pressing his back into her's firmly and feeling a blade slide into his stomach swiftly, going into the same wound and tickling his backbone and knicking his stomach. He dropped one blade he had and grabbed the enemy's sword, jerking it roughly, yet carefully, from his stomach, trying to be quick yet careful. He soon scooped up the other cutlass and continued slashing away quickly. "Ally really needs to hurry..." He muttered, his vision blurring and blood trickling from his lips.

"Right!" Allison shouted, impaling a man in the stomach and twisting her blade as she tugged it back. She turned and sprinted over to the edge of the ship, slashing people as she went. She reached out and grabbed a rope, holding herself steady as she leaned out over the edge towards her own ship. "Ready the cannons!" she roared. "Charity, you take charge over there!" A woman raised her head and lifted a hand in salute. "Aye, ma'am!" And off she went, racing below deck towards the cannons.
Meanwhile, Alex had been joined by Hans. Now was certainly not the time to judge whether he was trustworthy or not, and the idea that he wasn't didn't even cross her mind. She felt him set his back against hers and nodded her head, slashing across another man's chest and at the same time blasting one with her pistol left handed. She wasn't half bad. She'd just been having troubles with people getting behind her. She was bleeding from her back, but it wasn't a bad injury so she easily ignored it.
The loud bang of cannon fire caused her to turn around, and at the same time she suddenly caught sight of Han's condition. He'd been behind her before, so she hadn't realized. Now she was cursing herself for not assuming this would happen. She'd seen his wound, hadn't she? But it looked like a lot more had happened than it just reopening. "Are ye ok?!" she shouted over the noise, a hint of panic in her tone. But she couldn't keep her attention upon him for long, as another sword swung towards her. She lifted hers to block it, when someone did this for her.
Ally was standing beside her. She slammed a foot into the startled man's stomach. "Better run along. Yer ships leavin' ye," she sneered. She kicked him again and he scrambled off towards his burning, splintered ship, only to be struck down by one of Ally's crew. She busied herself with Hans, flinging his arm around her shoulder, gently but quickly, and starting to drag him off. "We'll get ye looked at. Jus' stay with me," she murmured. The chaos was dwindling down and it was much easier to get him over to her ship, and quickly. A couple of her crew even began helping her, taking care not to hurt Hans any further as he was carried between ships.
Wordlessly, Alex followed them and was pleased to see that no one was stopping her. She followed the small group right into a room where a doctor was brought and instantly went to work fixing Hans up. Alex hovered nervously by the far wall and Ally joined her after a moment, looking her over curiously. "Hans sure is keepin' strange company," she said. Alex just glanced at her, then shrugged her shoulders and stared back towards Hans. "...It was a chance meeting."

Hans groaned, feeling his eyes close. He was in an odd semi-conscious for the next few events until he felt his stomach being stitched back together. His hand snapped out and gripped the doctor's wrist tightly. "Be gentle... I'm here for help livin', not a disembowelment to help me in dyin'" He growled, then let go and suddenly felt his lungs spasm wildly in a fit of coughs, causing blood to spill from his lips, though he tried hard to keep it from coming up. As he felt his stomach being stitched together, he winced slightly. "A chance meeting? Ha... Ha ha ha..." A hoarse laugh came from his throat. "I don't believe in chance, if something happens, it's your fate, not chance..." He said with a smile. "Besides, a good captain doesn't risk his life to save a person he met through chance... I only protect those who will be in me crew, and that's it..." He said quietly, feeling himself being lifted up into a sitting position, and feeling fresh bandages being wrapped around his torso. His hemorrhaging was stopped thanks to the stitching that closed the hole in his stomach. As he sat, he looked toward Alex. "Speaking of which Alex... I only need your approval and Edward will give up his captaincy... Will ye support my move?" He asked quietly, extending a hand to shake her's if she agreed. He was a captain and always would be, but he had no ship to be captain of, therefore he was nothing more than a deckhand on their ship.

Alex had lowered her gaze to begin watching the floor until she heard Hans' coughing fit and looked sharply upwards. She stared for a moment, frowning lightly as he spoke and trying not to wince at his laugh. Fate, not chance... And he really considered her his crew? Or.. future crew. She muttered something inaudible to herself, earning a stare from Ally. But she hesitated at Hans' question, just watching him silently, until Ally threw an arm around her shoulders and dragged her forward towards him. "Well now, girly," she grinned. "Seems to me you own 'im an answer." Alex shot her a quick glanre, then sighed and slowly extended her hand, grasping Hans' firmly. "I will," she said shortly, giving up on any idea of herself becoming a captain. It'd only been a dream in the first place, and she at least owed him her approval after what he'd just done.
After that, Ally, with her arm still around Alex's shoulders, shook the girl playfully. "Well then. Now that tha's settled! You seem to have run into a bit o' trouble, Hans. So if ye don' mind, I'll be sticking 'round for a while, 'till ye get yer own crew and ship up an' runnin'."

"Thank you Ms. Alexia, I won't let you or the rest of the crew down. Now then... I'll want you to take the helm of our ship, which is hereby renamed to the Lady Karma, and you are to get our ship to Groggy Isle... Pay attention to the navigation map, use the compass, and things should work easilly enough... I'll be in me new cabin, seeing what accomodations I have..." He said quietly, taking hi coat from one of Ally's deckhands and putting it over his shoulders. It draped around his battered form comfortable and he walked out onto the deck a bit wobbly at first, but he regained his composure and got back to his ship easy enough. The cabin, as it was with most ships, was at the back, highest point, and a short walk from the wheel. He took a piece of paper and a quill and quickly scribbled that if anything was needed, she need only turn around and open the door. He found the cabin to be of rather cozy furnishings, a bed instead of a hammock, a large table that he would plan most courses out on or dine upon, and that was about it. It was still a good cabin for the captain to keep. He closed the door and flopped down on the bed, willingly slipping into unconsciousness.
