We all have our favorite books that we keep forever and pretty much live our lives by... Share the name and author of your favorite books so that a beginner can find it a little easier to wade through the wide world of Pagan Literature.

Please put the name of the book, the author, why you think the book is a worthy read, and any other information that may make finding the book easier, if you have it. And please don't be afraid to have discusstions here. I'll go through and make a comprehensive list in the next post.

If you have an opinion on any of the books listed, feel free to share it. Also, if there are any books that to think people should definately NOT read. Post those as well and we'll make a don't read list.

Compiled list

Beginners books

"WICCA, A Guide for the Solitary practitioner" by Scott Cunningham
"To Ride a Sliver Broomstick" by Silver Ravenwolf*
"If you want to be a witch" by Edan McCoy

Intermediate Books

"Wicca, A Year and a Day" by Timothy Roderick
"Living Wicca" by Scott Cunningham
"To Stir a Magic Cauldron" by Silver Ravenwolf*
"Solitary Witch, the Ultimate Book of Shadows for the New Generation" by Silver Ravenwolf*
"Celtic Wicca, Ancient Wisdom for the 21st Century" By Jane Raeburn
"Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Wicca in the Kitchen" by Scott Cunningham
"Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs" by Scott Cunningham

Others
"Spell Cafts, Creating Magical Objects" by Scott Cunningham & David Harrington
"The Magical Household, Spells & Rituals for the Home" by Scott Cunningham & David Harrington

*There is some controversy out there concerning Silver Ravenwolf's writings. I won't get into all that here, but I will state that her books need to be read with caution. She likes to state her opinion as fact, her history of the religion is a little shady, and most Wicca don't like her anti-christian attitude or her attitude about "non-pagan" folk. Some think it borders on discrimination. Although, if all that can be ignored or at least take worth a grain of salt, her actually information and such is very good. All I ask is that if you haven't read any books on paganism or Wicca, read Scott Cunningham's books before you read Silver's.
