The Setting
(Please make sure you've read the story post in the Speed and Scales shop, too.)
The Speed and Scales RP is set on the island of Nexis. S&S owners are visitors on the island who have decided to stay and raise a dragon of their own. Your "human" (or humanoid) persona can be from any other sort of world you'd like, provided they have some sort of magical or technological means to teleport to Nexis Island. Most other worlds linked to Nexis are at least vaguely aware that there are worlds beyond their own, though technology may confuse some magically inclined humans, and vice versa.
Nexis City is friendly towards travelers, and has special gates set up to attract new visitors to them, so people don't end up teleporting into the middle of the forest and getting eaten by a wild dragon razz The other settlements are less friendly. Please don't venture into them yet, stick around Nexis City and the surrounding wilderness.
Your Character
Your Nexis persona may be any sort of humanoid creature you can think up. Catgirls, angels, vampires, two-headed mutant space aliens, whatever. There are just a few things to keep in mind while deciding who your humanoid character will be.
First, remember that your username is on your dragon's certificate. It's preferable that this username should be somehow reflected in your character's name (for example, my character goes by Myra, a shortening of my full username.) If you really want to break with this, please make it very clear what your character is named at the start of each RP, and in your journal.
Second, Nexis island has a special magical field that negates any super-amazing magic or scientific powers your character may have. Your character could be a powerful sorcerer, a super-powered cyborg, or even a demigod on their home world, but in Nexis they won't be able to use their powers. This affects your character no matter how they get their super-human abilities, so no loopholes. No one person on Nexis is particularly more powerful than the next.
And third, when creating their "homeworld", please do not have them come from a previously copyrighted location. So no wizards from Hogwarts or ninjas from the Hidden Leaf Village. Feel free to borrow very, very heavily from fandom universes (eg. A wizard student from a British magical boarding school, or a ninja with jutsu powers from a hidden village) but please don't have your characters know, or even know of, copyrighted characters. The exception is Gaia- you may have your character come from the world of Gaia and know about the Gaian NPCs. Creating your own background world is strongly encouraged.
Rules
-This is an IC board, please keep things IC as much as possible. Make OOC comments in ((double brackets.))
- This should go without saying on Gaia, but keep things PG-13! If you or your dragons want to get romantic with one another, that's not my business, but obey the site rules. Nexis dragons aren't very violent, so hopefully graphic descriptions won't even come close to crossing the PG-13 line.
-You may join in the RP without a dragon of your own as a humanoid character, but please include only real Nexis dragons in the RP.
- Your character is not superpowered. I said this above, but I want to reinforce it here.
- Do not godmode/powerplay/godplay/whatever or in any way take control of another player's characters.
- You may bring a maximum of two other gaian pets (b/c or minishop) with you to the Nexis RP. Please make sure their shops allow this, and post them in your journal. I also ask that you don't bring any other dragon pets unless they're incredibly different from Nexis dragons, just to avoid confusion.
- All roleplaying styles are accepted here, from action/script-style RPs to multi-paragraph "literate" RPs. But please respect the style choice of the person who starts an RP board. If they've posted two paragraphs, reply with a long-ish post in the same person/tense. If they've posted two lines, don't post a three-page post in reply. If you want to join an RP and use a different RP style than its founder, please ask them first.
- That said, please don't use chatspeak. "U" and "R" are not acceptable words in any roleplaying style.
