Hey, how's everyone doing? I've been feeling a lot of stress recently, and it got me thinking. How do you deal with stress? I know I tend to put it off a lot (doing so right now) but that's constant stress. What about sudden stress, like when you get a test back and it's two letter grades worse then you need, or something. I like to think of myself as a strong person, and usually I can take a lot, but when I feel like I've failed, I just want to curl up in a ball and cry. Does anyone else ever feel like that? How good are you at handling stress? What does it do to you? I'd love to know, just so I can know I'm not the only one feeling it.

Well, I don't deal with stress so much as toss it out the window and wait for it to jump me at the last minute. If it makes you feel better, I'm taking a 6 week course in Pre-Calc this summer and have tests about every second meeting.
I get what you're saying about the failure issue. My first class was Tuesday and it was so much to handle I cried the ride home. My whole thing right now is passing the mentioned course with a B to get out of this lame county. (not country) Considering we're the frigging meth capital of the world, no wonder I want out. Or are we second to China, now?
My advice is to cry it out, read a book, or keep yourself occupied with trivial things. It doesn't deal with the stress directly, but the last is usually my choice. I hate feeling week, but the first option works pretty well. *pansy*

Try reading a book, taking a long, hot shower/bath, light some candles and do something where you can actually smell them, try doing a new hobby like drawing, writing, or painting just for fun without any competitions, vent on paper (or type it out), try just taking a walk in the fresh air. At least one of those should work.

I have lots of stress from school and other activities related to that but luckily it's summer time now. I only have to stress about those other activities. (student boards and so on)
Usually I relieve stress by reading, drawing really detailed pictures or doing puzzles. Espesially the drawing helps because I love to "loose" my self into the details for hours and hours. Also insane puzzles are good with that since it really takes your whole consentration to do those. Some times if it's really nice and sunny weather I go for a really long walk with my mp3 -player. I've found that physical strain is also really good stress reliever.
I can handle stress pretty well and usually people thing that I'm never stressed about anything. I usually just get more focused on things when there's lots of pressure around. I think only person who really sees my stress syndromes is my boyfriend. He has to listen my whining but luckily he's really good at calming me down.
I rarely stress about bad grades or I rarely feel down because of those. Usually the bad grade is my own fault and I know that if I had worked harder I could have gotten better grade. Only thing I stress about is those school projects where you really have to show what you know and can do. I know that those projects might be doors to a nice job so I have to get those right. Luckily the projects are usually done in groups so I can share my stress with my other class mates. biggrin

We have a family motto (aside that we never meet a stranger) that if ''There is something that you can do about it, then get up and do it. If there isn't, give it to God.''
Being occasionally reminded of that in silent prayer, reflections, and in the love of my family gets me through the worse moments of the storm. Just knowing that God has already got it al lwell under control.
I tend to take on a lot at one time, literally wanting to lock horns with my problems when it comes to me and decide what hte best route of action is. After I've done all I can, I remember: Stressing out isn't going to help anyone, and all it's going to do is make it worse for me.
The world has a hard enough time holding itself up, I don't need to be falling down with it.
Like I said, I have family to support me, and a husband. Hopefully you have someone you can at least talk with. I know that helps me tons, second opinions are always great.
But what to do? Like I said do all you can. After that, just wait....
...you'll see it's not going to end up as bad as you think.

Well Stress can be a very immobilizing thing you can just let it out don't be afraid to break down often times it helps you'll feel a lot better afterward. To much stress can lead to health issues so try building a fence hard work clears the head for me you need to find something that clears it for you. Take a walk, do a puzzle, play a video game, chat online, do something easy but don't not do anything about it.

Actually, it really depends on what kind of stress I'm going through. If it involves school, it's particularly easy for me. If I get a bad grade on a test, well, in 6th grade, I cried stare . The rest of middle school after 6th, well...I did awfully well on almost everything, so no test stress there 4laugh . By the time I got into high school, there was a lot of stress in the first semester. I wasn't used to the one-letter dropped grades I was getting on my report card, and the A's I had to earn on the tests by studying (that puts more stress on me). I never had to study in middle school to get an A scream !
Anyways, by second semester, I've learned to deal with the tests and have gotten better grades by the end of the year. As for homework and projects (which I rarely got that year), it applies only little stress. When it starts to go overboard a little, I calm myself down by telling myself that the misery will all pass the sooner I get it over with. I've trained myself to realize how fast time passes no matter what I do; so if I'm having a miserable time with a project or DBQ, I just tell myself that it'll be over sooner that I do anything crazy 3nodding .
The real stress that gets to me is getting caught doing things I'm not supposed to be doing. I don't do anything drastic like drugs or anything, but it mostly involves the computer. My dad hates it when I download because I always end up getting my computer infected somehow stare . I can't help the habit, so whenever something fishy happens to the computer, I panic greatly inside my head. It's horrible; it gives my chest this heavy feeling like my heart wants to burst out and run away or something. I usually take a nap when I start feeling like that, but it comes back after a while. It usually goes away by the next day. So, best solution to that for me is just don't download Goddammit stressed !
