Davin System

-The Davin system lay at the very edge of the Draco Galaxy's "Outer Rim" and the very edge of the physical part of the Draconis Empire. It is a small system of only four planets but the few people who live here are fiercly loyal not only to the Draconian Emperor but also to the Draconian Ideal. The Davin system is known for it's Kalimdorian Ale production but also for it's refinment of vital nebula gases. The Davin system doesn't have a particularly strong military presense however the first and second planet form the core of the system's population and the third and fourth planet is maintained by three strong military bastions of power Fortress Deliverance (Orbiting the fourth planet), Fortress Vigilance (On the surface of the third planet), and Fortress Destiny (On the surface of the second planet) along with sufficient number of small outposts and one orbital shipyard merely used to produce ships it is not a naval base.

I'm going to have an Outer Haven fleet base, a small one, be relatively close to the Davin system. Call it 350 - 500 lightyears away. If you need them they will have a small fleet there that can assit you.

IC: ON

Three AUs past the planet fartherst out from the Davin system existed a curious gravitational eddie. This hiccup in the laws of the universe seemed innocent enough and no doubt was something of a spectacle to anybody who gave a s**t about that sort of thing. At thirteen miles in diamater and powerful enough to swallow and destroy small sattalites it was worth a "danger zone" rating to small craft but it's gravitational pull was miniscule when compared to any planet's. But this was a very special point in space.

A Fleet Battleship erupted into relspace from the gravitational eddie. It went into cloak imediatly, cutting its active emissions by eighty percent and making it damn difficult to detect by 'normal' sensor equipment. Its apperance would be nearly impossible to detect, and even then somebody would have to be looking directally at it and know what they were looking for to detect it for what it was.

The Battleship was still for some time, silently taking in the passive sensors and making sure nobody was near enough to hinder it, before sending a probe back through the portal. Soon twelve more ships came through the portal one at a time. Once they were all together, twelve of the thirteen totle ships formed up and began moving in-system at a steady .1c while the thirteenth shuttle, an Assault Carrier converted for cargo hauling, stayed back as insurance.

The twelve-ship battlegroup would take ten days to reach the outter-most planet of the system. The whole time it would be collecting data on everything that came its way. Already it was able to detect a large population and industrial center deeper in-system. This was promicing. The data was being downloaded in real-time to the probes. Even if the recon force was distroyed at least a couple drones would make it back to the picket. And once they did, that picket would dissapear into nothingness as it made transit and then, soon, the entire fleet would know of this new resource.

Fortress Deliverance had detected a series of strange Hyperwave disturbances however they were small and insignificant. The Vox Dei Apostle looking at the scanners simply dismissed the readings believing them to be asteroids or a incoming comet. However the signals disappeared so the sensor officer assumed that whatever vector they had took it out of the system. The sensor officer turned the Hyperwave sensor array off for daily maintainence leaving a considerable hole in the Draconian sensor web. he walked off to the mess hal hoping to sneak a drink of Kalimdorian Ale he purchased from a black market trader. A Draconian Rakshasha cruiser was just completed the day before and with a wing of Mara class fighters it was escorted to the sub-space node on the western edge of the system. The Rakshasha warped out of the system leaving the Mara behind the four Mara simply swung back to the shipyard. The Mara themselves were using their active sensors which had superior range but lacked the precise and dimensional penetration power of the passive mode. The Mara pilots simply returned to Fortress Deliverance for a much needed rest having flown sorties for the last 16 days without rest.

The Fleet ships had surprise on thier side completely and, in cloak, it would make their alraedy meager emissions even more difficult to spot. However, once they came within two lightminutes of the outer-most planet they would slow still further to a painfully slow .03c, or, in techno-bable terms, a mere 9,000kps.

Sense the enemy was using active scanners it would be easy to backtrack their emissions to the source and thus track them. They would use this information to stay as far away from these sensor stations as they could while still gathering information on the system. It would take them literally weeks moving as slow as they were to scout the major planets but every last bit of information they could aquire before being destroyed was well worth a mere twelve ships.

arrow Davin 4, Fields around Outpost 354, Davin system

On the planet Crusader infantry were marching in step practicing, drilling, holding mock battles and CQC fights, and singing cadences. Hundreds of troops at the same time were performing their second morning prayer sessions as they waited for the other troops to clear the field. While others troops were training in VR simulators and practicing their combat skills in VR settings. A few were also practicing their piloting skills as they were trying to get transferred to the Vox Dei so they could be pilots. On the northern continent alone there were hundreds of thousands of Crusader infantry and several tank corps, divisions, and lances. Outpost 354 was also the regional hub for tank seminary school where Crusader infantry learned how to how the new Balam class battle tanks and the Beliel class war tanks. 1,300 miles west of Outpost 354 was Outpost 197 where Hundreds of Crusader infantry were completing their march from Outpost 354 this was also the location of the system's Jaeger infantry academy where Jaeger scout snipers were trained.

The battlegroup continued scouting until they were able to get a reasonable projection of what the enemy had at their disposal. Then, after over a month of covert snooping around, they attempted to get in as close to the primary planet as possible. They were coming in at under .03c and were just past seven lightminutes away from the planet, creeping in slowly and silently with all systems set to passive. The only way anybody would know they were there is if they were looking directally at them. If they had some alternate form of non-lightspeed based sensors they chanses are they would see them pretty easily.

The military forces in the Davin system were systematically shutting down their HYperwave sensors so that they could be maintained. Deliverance would have been done as it only takes a few hours to shut down, calibrate, dianose, and turn back on a Hyperwave array. Meanwhile the people living on Davin 1 were simply going on with their lives, women shopping, men working, children playing, Draconian life on the fringe was both stressful and.... exciting. However in the Davin system life was much better then in most Outer Rim systems. Life was affordable, somewhat safe, and the police force was in control of the criminal elements. All thanks to the fact the system refines nebula gases mostly for use in military warship reactors, and the production of Kalimdorian Ale. Both of these services boosted the local economy flooding the systemwide money system with wealth. Even after the nobles take their cut the rest of the money is put into public services all of which is a benefit to the local populace. Davin 1 was preparing to receive a shipment of nebula gases to refine because of the elevated temperatures needed to keep the gases warm it would be a ideal hiding place for a warm blooded biological creature because the raised temperature would drown out the heat signature from the living organism. *HINT HINT!!*

Lol.

Cat ships are not organic. Trust me, I have an idea of what I'm doing. All I need to know is how far out you spot my forces.

IC: ON

The Fleet ships would get as close as they could under minimal power settings. Only when they knew they were detected would they drop the deception.

By all rights I'd have detected the ships as soon as they reached the edge of the system. But I'm liking this cat and mouse game. I want to be caught off guard. Just tell me when your ready.

Time to get a bit more specific.

IC: ON

The Fleet ships, four Battleships, four Battle Cruisers, and four Escort Cruisers, snuck to within eight lightseconds of the fourth planet before reaching out with their targeting lasers. They had a clear picture of the station orbiting the planet by now and decided that it was tiem to make themselves known.

They did not detect any shield system, which was a pluss, and decided that a station of that size would have enough useful biomass on it to make it worth taking over. And taking the station would also give them valuable insight into this new enemy.

As soon as the Fleet targeting lasers lit up the station assault sleighs were being launched. One hundred fourty four missile-sized assault sleighs, each traveling at six percent the speed of light, carried the bulk of the scout force's Marine detachment toward the station. One thousand one hundred fifty two Cat Warriors would reach the station in just over thirteen seconds from the point of launch. The station would see the missiles coming at them, using lightspeed sensors, eight seconds after they launched. They would only have five seconds to react to them after that.

((Problem is the station is shielded with the same shields as my capitol ships.))

The female Realian sensor officer onboard Fortress Deliverance was savoring her day, as females are often kept out of the military except for Realians where female Realians are designed for a specific task, all of a sudden the Tachwave sensor screen filled with unknown entries. "Sir, we have many unknown forces coming in. They are launching objects that are traveling much faster then they are. Notifying Davin system regional command and notifying them of the situation... Locking onto the targets." The space fortress's shields were raised as soon as the missiles got close enough to pose a threat. When they impacted, those that did, they would initially be absorbed by the shields otherwise they would be destroyed by the flak guns that would be going off and considering the fact the fleet was 8 light seconds out they would now have to raise their shields or be consumed by the holy fire of the StS beam cannons the missile pods, and tachyon cannons would require additional targeting information however the name of the enemy wasn't even known so the ships had to be given numerical designations till a naming schema could be derived. Starting from 1 the big ships would be named and starting from A1 tghe smaller vessels would be named.

Unless you were using faster-than-light form of detection you would only have five seconds to react to seeing the missiles. And if you get the shileds up in time then we don't get to do a cool boarding scene.

((The particles of my Hyperwave/Tachwave technology trave at two times the speed of light plus they use "Black Hole Tucking" or "Wormhole Tucking" to trave large distances instantaneously. The shields are just tuned into the station's main AI. As soon as it detects a attack it raises the shields. You can still do the boarding seen as the shields can only take but so much damage.))

OOC: ON

Really? Well, the kinetic impact of a drive field missile hitting something strong enough to stop it yields roughly two-thirds a teraton of kinetic energy. Assault Sleaghs only travel sixty percent the speed of light but there are many of them.

((Stations have shields similar to a Lucifer class cruiser. However now that military installations are becoming a bigger part of how I fight wars I think I'll make some kind of formulized schema for them.))
