Obviously Lord of the Rings is a big part of this guild, but he also wrote several other things. For instance, he wrote a version of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, I believe. So has anyone read any of his other works, and if so, what did you think of them? Were they just as good as LotR, or do you think that his most major work was probably a culmination of all the skill he had?
We needed more threads, so I finally came up with this one, in case you were wondering where this thread came from. whee

I haven't read any, myself, but I've been wanting to read Roverandom. A pity Deramin isn't here right now...he'd have a field day with this thread, as with all things Tolkien, LotR or otherwise.

I haven't read any either... I saw a copy of his version of Sir Gawain, but didn't take the chance to snatch it up... blargh.
I'm sure he would have a field day with it. Hehe.

I've read The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings (+ the appendices), The Silmarillion, The Unfinished Tales, The Lost Tales and The Treason of Isengard. Actually, any Tolkien writing I came across with... whee

not really
and im sad to admit it sweatdrop i knew he did write other books like mentioned but i never saw them alot at the book stores neutral *shrugs* all i see are tons of copies of lotr trilogy with tons of varaiations of book covers neutral

The Hobbit, The Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, etc. are all works related to Lord of the Rings. I think Keldan meant the stories that did not pertain to Middle-earth and/or the lands beyond (e.g. Roverandom, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight).

I've unfortunately only ever read The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, as I said. I mean to read the Silmarillion soon, though, also as I said. 3nodding

I have read The Hobbit and The Silmarillion. I really loved The Silmarillion too, though I found it much harder to get through than The Hobbit or LOTR because it is written in narrative form.

I've read the Hobbit and the Silmarillion. I think the Silmarillion is a really excellent book, even though it's a little heavy and a bit hard to get into at first. I do think though, that LOTR is the best Tolkien book I've read so far. Once I find the others (I know they're floating around England somewhere!!!) I'll probably be able to give a better opinion...

There are also ''The History of Middle Earth''
which is splitted into twelve booka
Some examples are ''The Return of the Shadow'',''Morgoth's Ring'',etc...
