GENDER Male
AGE 175
RACE Duszek
HOMETOWN Heym.
OCCUPATION Current member of the Asterion League. One-time infantry commander in the Great Warhost of Heym (aka the Army).
APPEARANCE
Elias shares many of the traits inherent to his race; a tall and slender blue frame peaked with a mane of long, bone-white hair, sharp elongated ears and cold grey eyes.
However, his years of military service have rewarded him with a powerfully defined physique rivaling that of a modern day Olympic swimmer. And while his body has endured the heat, sun and sandstorms prevalent to the deserts surrounding his beloved Oasis, his weathered appearance has combined with his natural comeliness to produce a confident and handsome visage.
His style of dress is mostly military in nature, preferring the long scale-mail coats of his people rather than the bulky protective plate utilized by Humans and Ejderha. And while Elias prefers not to wear a helmet, I imagine his dress to look something similar to this: Duszek Military Attire
PERSONALITY
Elias is proud of the impressive military lineage of his family. In keeping with this tradition, Elias holds military prowess over all his other attributes. The drawback to this adherence is that he is openly antagonistic to those he considers beneath his station. While this doesn't usually affect his fellow guildmates, it does manifest when he's forced to interact with thugs, pirates, bounty hunters and other ne'er-do-wells who would use their skills for anything other than public service.
Being part of a long-lived race has allowed Elias to never forget a grudge. As such, he is distrustful of races who are (or have been) enemies of the Duszek. Sadly, this does transfer to the Asterion League members who are of Pennier or Desert-Human bloodlines.
As a member of the Duszek warrior class, Elias sees defeat as a great dishonor. Therefore, when forced to draw steel, Elias always fights to win. This philosophy has created a swordsman who is incredibly aggressive and loves to fight dirty. At times, this aggressiveness may transpose to the training arena. But once he has bested his foe in a non-lethal setting, he is always respectful of their effort and skill.
Outside of the martial realm, Elias is very quiet and pleasant company. He respects most of his fellow adventurers, viewing them as his comrades. And regardless of his belief in their capacity, Elias always follows the orders of his superiors.
His focus on swordsmanship however, has left Elias' social skills a bit lacking. In other words, he can be a bit naive in some situations.
Examples:
He is uncomfortable around the lascivious women that frequent Aschere's dark streets.
Most inside jokes and innuendos go right over his head.
He sometimes has trouble finding humor in precarious situations.
As for matters of the heart, Elias keeps any romantic desires to himself...for the most part. heart
Elias' involvement in the intrigues of the military means he excels in affairs involving the etiquette of his people. From their complex body language to the layered nuances and honorifics, Elias knows how to speak to other Duszek.
Aside that, he enjoys playing the lute and loves drawing in his sketchbook.
HISTORY
Elias Urbas was a successful up-and-coming senior lieutenant among the Warhost officer corps whose unit was known for their daring in battle as well as their loyalty to the Oasis.
Eventually, this renown among the troops caught the attention of the Elder Council. Specifically, an elder named Gwidon Korol. Gwidon's son, Aurek, had come of age and was planning to serve his military levy in preparation for one-day taking his Father's place.
In celebration of Elias' martial prowess, his unit was granted the honor of escorting Aurek into his first battle. To ensure Aurek's safety, Elias' troops were placed on the portion of the battlefield least likely to face the enemy.
Sadly, the army's commander grossly underestimated the brutish tactics of the desert nomads and Elias' phalanx came under a fierce and unexpected cavalry charge.
In the fighting that ensued, Aurek was unhorsed by the savage Mon-Keigh and dragged behind the battle line.
Rallying his soldiers, Elias charged into the fray and saved Aurek before the raiders could end his life.
Sadly, Aurek had already endured a fate worse than death for the Duszek. He had been "rounded"... a savage practice where the ears of Duszek prisoners are carved to look like those of a human...
Aurek's dishonor was set in stone.
But even greater dishonor faced Elias, who was ultimately responsible for Aurek's safety. At first, the Duszek judiciary called for Elias to end his life and join the Weave. But at the insistence of Aurek and Gwidon, his sentence was changed from death to exile.
Thus Elias Urbas, champion of the Heym Warhost, was banished from his beloved Oasis and cast into Aludra's untamed wilds. For weeks Elias wandered the streets of Camacho, tired, hungry and aimless.
Then finally, Elias came upon a League recruiter who bought him passage to Aschere and ushered him into the life he knows today.
Even though Elias has taken well to his new surroundings outside the Oasis, a large part of him still hopes to one-day return to Heym and regain the respect of his people...
It is a desire he will probably carry to his grave.
COMMON KNOWLEDGE
Due to Elias' relative inexperience in the Guild, knowledge of his history is somewhat limited:
Essentially, guildmembers are aware of his skill-at-arms and his serious demeanor on the job. Additionally, friendlier members would be aware of his struggling sense of humor, his shyness and his ability to play the lute and draw.
There is some question to his existence outside of the Oasis due to the generally reclusive nature of the Duszek. But overall, he has kept the secret of his exile to himself. However, it is a fair assumption to conclude that Elias was in the military.
Prominent Duszeki members of the Guild, like Sisel, might know more of Elias' shadowed past.
DIVISION Melee Weaponry
CLASS PROGRESSION Fencer > Duellist > Warblade

The lowest stage of the Duszek swordfighter, the Fencer is eager to enter battle and prove his worth to his countrymen. Thus, the scope of his training focuses on quick and lethal attacks.
Melee +5, Ranged +0, Magic/Other +0
HP >> 35, Evade >> 14

The Duelist specializes in rapid ripostes and counterattacks, channeling his effort into understanding the finer mechanics of swordfighting and the balanced connection between blade and warrior.

HP >> 40, Evade >> 18
WARBLADE
The ultimate stage of Duszeki martial prowess, the Warblade is trained in using his connection with The Weave to deliver crippling blows to an opponent. Utilizing split-second calculations, he identifies a weak spot, centers his blade and strikes with blinding speed.

HP >> 50, Evade >> 23
- Level 01: Charge
Level 02: Disarm (As Randomizer.) Upon a successful attack (melee+d20) Elias has the opportunity to disarm his foe. If he hits normally, he rolls a second d20 without his melee bonus to determine the result.
- Level 1 >> A roll of 1-14 results in no effect, 15-20 and the opponent is disarmed.
Level 2 >> A roll of 1-12 results in no effect, 13-20 and the opponent is disarmed.
Level 3 >> A roll of 1-10 results in no effect, 11-20 and the opponent is disarmed.
If disarmed, the target must take one round retrieving their weapon. This skill can't effect any weapons that don't engage Elias (such as a bow or a dart) and it never does any damage.
Level 03: Critical Strike By sacrificing his own personal safety, Elias may throw himself into a single attack. For every point Elias removed from his evade bonus, he may add an equal number to his melee bonus. For instance, if he takes a -5 to his evade, his melee bonus of 12 is temporarily raised to a 17. This bonus is only present for one single attack, but the minus to his evade remains for the following round before returning to normal.
(RACIAL TRAIT) Magical Resistance - Elias receives an innate bonus against any magic/other based attacks sent his way. d20+magic/other damage received is reduced by -2/-4/-6 at levels 1, 2, & 3.
(NARRATIVE [racial] SKILL) Honed Senses - As a Duszek, and one raised in Duszecy society, Elias has finely tuned senses of smell, hearing and sight including the ability to see extremely well in dim light and fairly well in darkness.
Elias' weapon of choice is his family's longsword, Sunfang.
Not as heavy or bulky as human longswords, Duszeki blades are thin and perfectly balanced to allow for warriors to maximize their agility.

POINT ASSIGNMENT Melee (5), Ranged (0), Magic/Other (0)

OTHER NOTES
Elias exposure to a temperate and humid world has generated some interesting side effects. Predominantly he is horribly allergic to Muscherons, sneezing almost uncontrollably whenever they are within 4 feet of him. (It must be the spores.)
Soaking a scarf in water and wrapping it around his mouth and nose helps a bit. But as the scarf dries, the sneezing inevitably starts again.
