History:

The Nara clan was in existence long before Konohagakure was even a thought in anyone's mind. They lived peacefully near the mountain that would someday be called the 'Hokage Rocks'. They created poisons and medicines out of flowers, herbs, and fungus that they found on the mountains as well as the forests. When the Shodai and Nidaime rose to power, the Nara clan agreed to align themselves with the other clans that were scattered about the land, to create one large and powerful village. After years of construction, organization, and going through political systems, the village finally rose to power and was named, 'Konohagakure no Sato'.

The clan still resides in Konoha, exporting their creations to allied villages all over the world. Aside from everyday missions that typically Shinobi do, Nara medicines and poisons has increased the wealth of the village greatly after the war between Konoha, Oto, and Suna. The clan has also gained great ties to the heirs of Suna's Kazekages, thanks to a single Nara, 'Nara Shikamaru' who became close to the daughter of the Yondaime Kazekage, Temari. It is rumored throughout the clan that they became much more then just close subordanates, but there are no documents that prove such a legend.

A typical Nara clan member has a great IQ, much higher then that of an average human. The downside to this is that Nara's are typically very lazy and laid back, refusing to do more work then is unnecessary, and sometimes not even that much. The only times when a member seems to kick into gear is when an ally is in desperate need of help. In such conditions, the member puts their mind to whatever the problem is, and uses every bit of their knowledge to solve it, no matter what the cost.
