If you do not know, a Carpathian is similar to that of a vampire only in that it cant be in sunlight and it can only feed on blood. Other then that they are completely different.

Carpathians are NOT Vampires, they are of the Earth, a race of people that need blood to sustain life. THEY ARE NOT EVIL UNTIL THEY TURN VAMPIRE.

+A Carpathian is of the Earth, and must have the healing soil, especially if injured. They can shape shift into any animal or creature as long as they can hold the image in their mind. They also can command rain from the heavens, lightning, storms, hail, the earth shifting and opening at their command. They can dissolve into mist and travel that way. Anything having to do with nature, the earth, and its creatures are under the command and/or influence of a Carpathian. The same resources are availible for a vampires to use also, but when they do it there is a darkness tainting it, like a signature.

Truthfully all vampires were once carpathians. A Vampire is a Capathian Male who has not found his lifemate and has chosen to turn vampire in order to cope or whom has lost his lifemate through tragedy. They are viscious and cruel, killing mercilessly. They turn ugly, fetid, horrible to look upon and hear. They have to hide from the Hunters of their race. Some vampires seek to find lifemates, thinking they can return to their former state. They cannot. Once you have chosen, there is no going back.

+Carpathian males are known to be able to be mated to females of three species: Carpathian, Jaguar, and Human (with psychic gifts). In all instances, the female is the lifemate, the other half of the Carpathian male. There can be no other for either of them. However, the process for joining lifemates differs slightly with each race.

+A Lifemate is the one woman that brings the Carpathian Male his emotions back, restores his ability to feel and to see in color.

+There is only ONE true Lifemate for one Carpathian Male, the male has the choice, once he finds his lifemate, to bind them and speak the ritual words and join them in mind, body, heart, and soul, to avoid turning into a Vampire.

+If a Lifemate resists and does not share minds regularly, they suffer agony, doubts, terrible aching loneliness, their mind plays tricks on them, and they cannot cope with the absence of their other half.

+A human female with TRUE psychic ability can be compatible with a Carpathian male as a lifemate. She can be converted to a Carpathian after three blood exchanges with her lifemate. Whatever psychic abilities she possessed as a human will carry over and become more enhanced as a Carpathian.

+A Carpathian Male will protect a female and child, always, before his own life, whether human or Carpathian. They can do no other.

+When hunting a Vampire, if you extract his or her heart, you must immediately throw the heart aside and not allow any of their blood to touch you. Their blood is toxic. This is when you call down the lightning to incinerate their heart, body, and all traces of their blood from the ground, your hand, and anywhere on your body that the blood may have touched. The lightning will not burn you, only the Vampire and its miscellaneous parts.

+The Carpathians have to seek outside their race for female lifemates because for some unknown reason, fewer and fewer females are being born to their race, and the ones who are born rarely survive their first year.

+After the first 200 Years, the males lose the ability to feel any emotion or see in color, their worlds become bleak, lonely, the vast emptiness, darkness in them, makes it harder and harder over the centuries to control the predator, the beast within them.

+After the loss of emotions and color, the only feeling they have is when they feed, excitement from the prey filling their veins.

+When a Carpathian feeds, he does so carefully, making certain that he does not harm those he feeds from. He will capture the mind of his donor and plant memories in their mind of what really happened to explain their lethargy. He knows that to drink too deeply and take the last drop would be to lose his soul and become a Vampire.

+When a Carpathian Male is close to the end of his existence and about to turn without finding his lifemate, he is supposed to seek the sun and terminate his life. He may also ask the assistance of another hunter to terminate his life humanely.

+The males, especially the Hunters, are predatory by nature.

+A Hunter is a Carpathian Male who hunts the Vampires and destroys them, to protect the identity of their people as well as humans. Not all males are hunters. ALL males are able to kill vampires or humans who threaten their lifemate. ALL males will go after a vampire.



+These are the binding ritual words for a Carpathian Male to his lifemate:

The words above translate to this and the binding should only be done to the person who brings color back into their life. Once these words are spoken nothing can tear them apport short of death.

YOU ARE MY LIFEMATE. I CLAIM YOU AS MY LIFEMATE. I BELONG TO YOU. I OFFER MY LIFE FOR YOU. I GIVE YOU MY PROTECTION, MY ALLEGIANCE, MY HEART, MY SOUL, AND MY BODY. I TAKE INTO MY KEEPING THE SAME THAT IS YOURS. YOUR LIFE, HAPPINESS, AND WELFARE, WILL BE CHERISHED AND PLACED ABOVE MY OWN FOR ALL TIME. YOU ARE MY LIFEMATE, BOUND TO ME FOR ALL ETERNITY AND ALWAYS IN MY CARE.

If a Carpathian speaks these words to you, you are irrevocably bound to him forever. These words are instinctual and will force themselves from your very soul. When they are uttered, you will both feel the shift inside as you are linked eternally. The ritual becomes complete when he joins his body with yours and again repeats those words to you and makes 3 blood exchanges. If you are a Carpathian female, the 3 blood exchanges are not necessary, though you will exchange blood. The 3 blood exchanges only applies to human psychic females.

No matter what, once the mating ritual starts - no matter how independent they may be - they will NOT be able to stop it. The pull between them is too strong - NEITHER of them can fight it. With human females however, you have a little bit more leeway. Upon meeting her lifemate, a human female feels a pull to him, which is stronger than any attraction between two mortals, but not quite as compelling as the pull between two Carpathian lifemates.

This is simply because the depth of emotion between two lifemates is beyond anything a mortal can comprehend. The sharing of blood is inevitable, but a male can choose to grow old and die with his lifemate, or he can convert her into a Carpathian.


Setting/ Plot:
The setting is located in the Carpathian mountains, where there are many rivers that flows and many high mountains. In the area of the Carpathian Mountains the soil is rich and has many healing capabilities.

In the year 2020 the Carpathian population dropped drastically. Trying to survive with their dying population the Carpathian race has little hopes and dreams....

She couldn't sleep. The air felt heavy, oppressive. River fancied, for a moment, that something lurked outside the glass of her window, watching her from where it concealed itself in the branches of the great oak tree out front.

The feeling passed hurriedly, but even so, it had been there. Shaking her head, she strode over to the guitar she kept in the corner and picked it up. She tuned it with a simple grace granted through mindless repetition, and began to play thoughtlessly.

River's fingers halted their flow over the guitar strings as every muscle in her body tensed. She could hear voices. Angry voices, masking writhing, bloodthirsty minds.

She bit her lower lip, looking out the window at the forested area that began just a few yards beyond her lawn.

"Oh, I've got to be insane for doing this," she muttered, sliding the window open. Guitar in hand, she stepped gingerly out on to the roof, sliding down the drainpipe. Checking to make sure her instrument was safe on it's strap across her back, she began to make her way cautiously toward the source of the sound.

River halted in her path, her mind aching simply from the bloodlust she could hear in the voices up ahead. Cursing herself as she did so, he closed her eyes and listened to them further, allowing their words to show her the state of their minds.

She couldn't stop that yelp that escaped her. Those minds, those thoughts. They weren't human.

And now they'd heard her.

River knew she should run. She was in way over her head, that was clear enough. But something stirred inside her, staying her feet, until she moved forward. She gasped as she saw Mikhail sprawled out on the ground, rushing to his side.

She knew he wasn't human. But the small glimpse she'd had of his mind had been breathtaking. Adrenaline backing the movement, she turned him over on to his back, tilting his head so she could hold her head above his mouth, listening for sign of breathing.
