These are some poems on wolves I found at http://wolfdragon.net/

The Authors are on the website.

Title: I Remember

I remember when we were one,
Like one big family under the sun,
I remember when we used to hunt,
Wolves, noses so keen, were out in front,
I remember when we came to your room,
That may have been the point of our doom,
I remember when you turned us away,
Killing three of us in one single day,
Now all I remember is our pain and suffer,
And you all think you're so much tougher,
I still remember how I was your friend,
I would have died for you in the end,
I remember when you went to others for support,
You may call us loco and think killing's a sport,
In the beginning there was so much trust,
Yet you pushed us away like we were dust,
I'll never know why you made yourself hate,
All I can think of is that it's fate,
But I remember when fate changed before,
Changing you all right down to the core,
You're killing my race and we don't stop you,
You don't realize, you're killing you too,
By killing us, inside you're dying,
Being so abused we're doing no crying,
What will happen if you don't kill us all,
Your race is dying, it will soon fall,
You've treated us like we were useless,
Now you have yourself a mess,
My race will remember how by killing us,
You really killed you.

Title: Moonlight

A mournful howl pierces the night
Calling out to Luna to make things right
We cannot trust these creatures that are new who look at us with hate
And blame for that we did not do
They slaughter our red brother and pollute our mother earth
They scan the land not for beauty but instead for what it's worth
They cut off nature's connection and hide it in the shadow
They stay in their strange boxes and shove away all that they know
So help us dear moon sister, bathe us in your light
Give us peace in darkness though tomorrow may not be bright.

Title: Wolf Poem

As I sit and watch this pack,
I realize trust is the only thing they lack.
You hunt us down without a care
Do you really think this is fair?
Give us a chance at life and you will see
how wonderful we can actually be.
So let the spirit of the wolf live in you
and guide you through life.

Title: Men are Murders

If only he knew
What was happening as the wind blew.

He left his den for less than an hour,
And decided to return home when the air turned sour.

He returned to only see death,
It was man he would bet.

There was bloodshed everywhere,
Why was man so unfair?

They never hunted humans,
So why do they hunt them?

We are not the vicious creatures man makes us up to be,
We only wish to live free.

Now his pack is dead,
They were the ones he had lead.

Oh why did I leave today?
I should have listened to my instinct, I should have stayed,

There's nothing left for me
If only they could see.

Everything I have cared about as been murdered on this day,
I wish I could see the man who did this and say,

"Why do you come out of your way,
just to slay?"

I wish so much: couldn't I have been here?
I would have made a difference, I would have fought with no fear.

So this is the way it ends,
It's all over now, my family is gone,
I will wait for the break of dawn,

For one day man will come for me,
And I will no longer be able to run free.

Title: The Cry of the Wolf

I am Wolf
Standing Proud and Strong
But why are you killing me?
What did I do wrong?
When you look into my eyes?
Why have you labeled me
With all your lies?
Don't I have a right
To walk this land and be free?
I'm not the beast you say I am
So why are you killing me?
I don't hunt you for food
And I only kill to survive
Isn't that what we all do?
In order for us to stay alive?
We are not driven crazy by
The scent of blood as you say
It seems no matter what
You want to think this way
You say we howl at the moon
And we don't even do that
It's our way of communication
Yet another incorrect fact
Why don't you learn the truth
And see the beauty we possess
Then finally we can live together
In peace and happiness

Title: Unknown

Among Our Hearts Stands the Wolf--His Heart Following Us
Howl with the Wolf and Good will Follow You
Look into the Eyes of the Wolf and See Who you Really Are
We Hope and Pray that the Wolf will Stay--But that's Not Enough
Gold is a Treasure--Waiting the be Found
Wolves are a Creature--Waiting to be Rescued
Let the Wolf Roam in Your Heart, Forever...

Title: Call of the Wolf

I wish I could run, To run would be nice.
To run is safety, And know you're all right.
To be free among the trees, No worry of guns.
To howl with pride, And know that this is your side.
Not to step on a trap, While getting a drink.
Not to worry about the times, When you just don't think.
To be among those, Who the right path they choose.
And to be wise, And not to despise.
To watch the dancing willows, And climb the hill tops.
Despising the fact, That you are a target.
To fly with the wind, And have no such worries.
Of man coming down, And killing you in flurries.
And to walk with the pack, One again.
To follow their tide, To be on their side.
I wish to jump, In the river bed,
But right now, That is something I would dread.

Title: The Last Wolf

The last wolf hurried toward me
through the ruined city
and I heard his baying echoes
down the steep smashed warrens
of Montgomery Street and past
the few ruby-crowned high-rises
left standing
their lighted elevators useless
Passing the flicking red and green
of traffic signals
baying his way eastward
in the mystery of his wild loping gait
closer the sounds in the deadly night
through clutter and rubble of quiet blocks
I heard his voice ascending the hill
and at last his low whine as he came
floor by empty floor to the room
where I sat in my narrow bed looking west, waiting
I heard him snuffle at the door
and I watched
He trotted across the floor
he laid his long gray muzzle
on the spare white spread
and his eyes burned yellow
his small dotted eyebrows quivered
Yes, I said.
I know what they have done.

Title: The Year of the Wolf

I have returned from the nothing
the dread loneliness of the ever more
I have transformed from a seed
and now I have grown... come, walk with me
and I shall lead you through the nothing
to return here again as The Wolf Of The Moon
this is the year, this is the time.

Title: In the company of Wolves

When the moon crests the hills
giving each tree a black pool-shadow
the wolves wade in the forest
wet themselves in the darkness
shake it from their fur
in clearings of light
Their eyes are stars
their teeth comets their tails
galaxies they are
constellations of the night
they roam the universe
They run as Diana's companions
laugh as her silver arrows
and their iron teeth
harvest the hunt's bounty
they hide in her moon
cloud around her with breath
They are brave of soul
clear of eye and mind
they are strong of jaw
they are loyal-kind
they are keen to scent
quick to 'fend their kin
they are hot of blood
they are slow to sin
Gray brown white black blonde
ear tail paw claw tongue
they play as a pack and they
melt together so that one
is part of all and all
become one
They prance through the forest
they track through the sky
they are noble in friendship
and single in thought
I join them in flight
I run in the company
of wolves

Title: The Forest

In the goddess times when the moon reigns full
and the pack starts up as they feel the pull
and the paws push fast as they feel the night
all the forest runs howling with delight
In the hunting times when the scent reigns thick
when the ears are keen and the teeth are quick
and the barks and yips sound along the path
all the forest feeds and the savage laugh
In the quiet times when all sleep reigns still
and the sated pack has no lust for thrill
and the warmth of kin is their main desire
all the forest rests by the quiet fire
In the threatened times when the dark reigns high
and the shadows slink as they lurk nearby
and the pack must fight growling back to back
all the forest flees from the loyal pack
In the injured times when the blood rains thick
and there's wounded kin the pack moves in quick
and the cure and care is on each sharp mind
all the forest knows the pack can be kind
In the goddess times when the moon reigns full
and the pack starts up as they feel the pull
and the pack is one where their souls abide
all the forest knows I am by their side

Title: The father of Wolves

A pup went to his father with
questions in his mind,
about the world around him;
about life, nature and time.
First he asked about the
world, about how he came to be,
about how he knew right from
wrong and about the mystery
of the sea.
The father smiled and answered
his son in a riddled rhyme,
"Your life will go onward from
now and you shall know in time.
"But over the course of time
remember that you have in your paw,
the power to give life by mercy and
the power to kill by the claw.
"But always know you are no king,
for nature has given this power to others,
Though they shall not harm those who live a good life,
for all of nature is your sisters and brothers."
The pup nodded to his father
then asked him some other words,
About the bountiful river and
the mighty caribou herds.
The father smiled and answered his son again,
looking into the young pups eyes,
answering with the same soft spoken words,
in the same riddled rhyme.
"The water we drink and food we eat
is granted to us for life,
but each must only take as much as they need,
for that is only right.
"But each is destined to grow old,
and to soon after have all health gone,
So then they might fall prey to nature
so that others may live on."
The pup again nodded once
turning to his father to ask him of his life,
How he had come to know all he did
about his pain, suffering and strife.
"My son" he whispered to the pup
still gazing in his eyes,
"I know of what I speak my son,
through using my own mind.
I'll tell you of what I've seen my son
and of what the shamans preach,
Live your life well but harm no other,
for the purpose of life is to teach."
To this the pup just nodded,
making this knowledge his own,
he then sweetly nuzzled his father,
as the enlightenment in his eyes shown.
Then the father spoke unto his son
about the strangest of nature's clan,
Of the ones who've learned so very little,
he warned his son of man.
"Be fearful son of a race called man
for they know not what they do,
They have been gifted abilities far beyond our own,
yet utilize so few.
They act not for their brothers and sisters,
but for the betterment of one,
They've violated many of natures laws
but know not what they've done.
Man has abandoned the powerful mind he has
which first allowed him to thrive,
But he will reap what he has sewn
once he can no longer survive."
With that the father nuzzled his son
and bid him on his way,
knowing his son would lead a wealthy life
and pass his knowledge on one day.

Title: Blue Orchid

The night falls,
And with the moon rises my desire.
I pace the room like an animal caged,
A were-beast with no prey to hunt,
Trapped in a mountain ravine alone.
Wolves howl in the distance.
I dream to be one of them,
Fearless, night-silent, and powerful.
I would raise my voice in their song,
Answering call and howl, until a great male
Finds my scent and calls me to run with him.
Instead I stand here in the dark
The land around me flooded with moonlight.
Orion, benevolent protector, stands silently above.
The night wind blowing my hair back
As I raise my face, eyes-lidded, to the sky.
Then, in the dark, a sound, a rustle of the leaves.
I turn, poised to run to the safety of the lights
When I see him emerge from the brush
Tall, strong, with forest scents surrounding him.
Even as he approaches, I have given answer,
Accepted the invitation of his compelling yellow eyes.

Title: Unknown

Not from wolfdragon.net. I'm not sure were it is from but i like it =)

Alone, high up on a mountaintop
A wolf sings of her despair
To the moon above, of a forlorn love
Her tale echoes on the cold night air
With naught but the wind as a friend
To join in her sad lonely cry
Lost and alone and searching for home
The wolf and the moon in the sky
As the echoing notes die away
There comes an answering plea
To the sound turns her ear, she hears it so clear
"I'm coming, so please wait for me"
So she waits for the one who responded
And then she saw him appear
A wolf just as she, and longing to be
The one to ease all of her fear
He lifted his voice with a question
His song sweet as the croon of a dove
When she looked in his eyes, to her surprise
All she could see was his love
And so she answered his query
With her heart, her soul and her mind
Together give voice, and hope to rejoice
The wolves who are two of one kind.

When will it stop,
this killing of wolves
tell me in truth what they have done,
why must they suffer
and die one and all
just leave them to live in the sun.
Don't you see when they are gone,
and just memories are left
what a sad place the Earth will be
where will it end?
how long will it take?
Please think, and I'm sure you will see.

WHY?

Wolf Love

Howling in the night,

A mating call in the wild,

Lone wolves wishing to unite,

Off in the distance,

A willing companion calls.

Running to meet his new love,

His anticipation hurries his stride,

Stopping from time to time,

Making another call,

He is determined to catch his desired.

Distance no longer matters,

Only time to make his mark.

They meet and dance in unison,

Happy to find their mate.

They play and run, jump and dance,

Inviting the other,

To become their life.

Spirit of the Wolf

"He came to me in my dreams"

I will give to you

My cunnings, My hearing

My eyes which to see

That they may lead you

As they have led me.

I give to you my strength

In your heart my voice

Hear me, I will help you

Make the right choice.

So that you don't tire while you

Find much food for your people to eat

I give to you my stamina

My legs and my feet.

Should dangers linger in the air

Brave warrior you will always tell

For next I give to you

My keen sense of smell.

For your love of your people

And the land that we are a part

It is as abiding as mine

So I give to you my heart.

Brave warrior accept me

And all that I give

For forever together

You and I will live.

Awake now brave warrior

And look to the ground

For there will be proof

Of what you've just found.

~ Author Shelly Lapierre

The Cry

He stands alone at the top of the hill
And sings his mournful cry,
His mate and cubs are missing
He's not certain why.

He had been out hunting
Was gone for only a day,
And hurried back with empty jaws
So scarce now was their prey.

He wasn't gone long
Eager to get home,
But the den was cold and empty
And he sensed something was wrong.

The smell of man was everywhere
With footprints in the dirt,
And blood shed from his family
He knew they had been hurt.

He sat and waited day by day
With hopes they would return,
There wasn't much he could do
Except quietly sit and yearn.

Why would man come all this way
To hunt and shoot them down,
To interrupt their quiet lives
When no harm had been done?

Their territory plainly marked
And not once did they stray,
For they would rather starve to death
Than to get in man's way.

The smell of chickens, cows and sheep
Were so tempting at times,
But instincts warned not to hunt them
Or they would lose their lives.

And so they lived a quiet life
Existing on small game,
Careful it was only wildlife
And nothing man had tamed.

So he could find no reason
For the blood shed on that day,
So peacefully they lived here
So far out of man's way.

Maybe they'd be coming back
His cubbies and his mate,
Wolves are mated once for life
So he would sit and wait.

That was many moons ago
And they have not come back,
But he will not stop hoping
For the reunion of his pack.

He now knows men are murderers
But still does not know why,
And every night he climbs his hill
And sings his mournful cry.

By Karen Evans

I'm not alone

Through the heavy fog on a dark winters night, peered haunting blue eyes with their soft glowing light.
The powerful stare with it's brilliance and majesty, brought on a shivering response full of caution and mystery.
They seemed to float through the air with great charm, in an effort to tell you "they meant you no harm."
Yet as ghostly as the movements had tried to be, an eerie feeling abruptly overtook me.
As I fell to the frozen, unforgiving forest floor, I noticed two eyes had been accompanied by two more!
Soon there were three enchanting pairs upon me, watching and listening, hiding in the trees. With one final shiver the dark night became black, I knew as I slept, I would not be coming back. The bright morning sun was the next thing I saw, which was followed by the touch of a rather large paw! and after providing a wet kiss on the nose, the wolf disappeared and I arose, In the snow at my feet, there were paw prints all about, and the surrounding outlines of the bodies, which helped keep the cold out. The howl that followed never seemed to end, conveying the message

"WE CAN BE FRIENDS."

Wolves Crying for Help
Running, hunting, trying, surviving, and dying
The wolves have no home anymore, that's why they are crying.
For miles and miles howls are heard discussing their fates.
Humans don't care for this animal; wolves are forgotten then killed.

Humans don't know that a wolf has no hates.
That's why a wolf doesn't end up at Hell's gates.
Dark night color blue; wolves' images are relived on 14 Karat gold plates.
The round moon is the only light that they see.

Humans keep on destroying a beautiful home.
Wolves aren't dumb; they know they have no place to roam.
At night is the call of the wild.
Something pure on this Earth; like a new born child.

Cool air, water, and snow once demolished their fears.
There is nothing out there anymore; nothing but tears.
An innocent dream, turned black in the darkest clear...
For fire now dwells on the western land.

A newborn wolf pup sees his life has been altered.
No soft land to comfort your paws-only land of
concrete and people. Civilization to you.
No home No hope No life; but great
sadness and fear. Why can't the kingdom of
salvation take them home.

The Voice of One Crying
in the Wilderness

Now halt your minds
and listen to their cry
From northern alters
formed of snow and ice,
Beneath celestial curtains
in their sky,
The wolves give evensong
of sacrifice.
All creatures stop-
transfixed
by somber hymns
Which rise from frozen
mountains to the stars
To one whose understanding
never dims,
Who walked with man
and also bears the scars.
The howling joins the wind
which sweeps the earth
Angelic zephyrs sing
like flute and fife
And reach the ears of one
who from his birth
Has dared deny
the sacredness of life.
This man, now trembling,
sees upon his wall
A young wolf's head he shot-
to his distress,
That prophet's head brings
judgement on us all,
Like one who also cried
in wilderness.
So listen now-
we may not have so long;
Please listen to the crying
voice and care,
And pray that we may never
end the song
Of wolves and wind
that fills the arctic air.

Wolves in Moonlight

Wolves are out at night
Making all the prey scared in fright
They run like the wind
But look like the can take flight
They hunt in packs
And watch each others backs
They live in a forest
Where most say "beware."
"Because they come out at night
Where the moon is full
For they hunt for prey
Some dance in moonlight
A couple at a time
Some pups play
Some wrestle
They run at night
With light from the moon
Only to find, that the prey sleep
Not to found
With a moonlight pelt
They look like ghosts
But when the sense you
You'd better run."

Touchin' poems y'all wrote crying . Anywhoo, when I went campin' a few days ago, I saw a real, wild mexican gray wolf from about ten feet away 4laugh ! Here's how I'd describe it...

Fur of silver, eye's of gold;
In your paw, my heart do you hold.
My eyes transfixed on you as you move
Flawlessly, silently, and quite aloof.
'Twas picturesque seeing you in the wild.
Your eyes reflected mine -those of a child.
I stood still, not wanting to lose the moment;
You did the same as if you had known it.
But a rustle in the trees was all you needed
as you left me all alone in the trees, unheeded.
I'll miss you, though you don't think the same.
To you glancing at me was like some game.
Our eyes will never meet, our souls will ne'er touch-
I never guessed it would hurt so much.
The canine ethereal entity was gone far away...
I hope I see you again, someday.

-Dedicated to my wolf acquaintance that I met near Black River, Arizona 3nodding .
