My school assumed that I was bi or les because I am goth, but I'm straight.I never heard of all goth girls being that way. Some of my friends are that way and wear all black but they ain't goth. They also assume if you wear all black that makes you goth.I punched a wall 'till my hand bled over this one.
My question for ya'll is:Is your area or school this unfair or worse?
PostPosted: Thu May 24, 2007 11:29 am

Um, my school's worse. I live in a crazy, conservative Christian town, so because I wear black, that makes me: Satanist, Wiccan, a devil worshiper, a whore, bi/lesbian, suicidal, a druggie, an alcoholic, a goat-sacrificer, a cult member, and out to corrupt the good Christian kids into a life of sin.

But you can't let it get you down. Who cares what all these random people think? They don't know you. They have no right to judge you. They don't matter.

Thankfully I live in an urban area in a pretty liberal part of the country.

Some people DO assume things about me, but they usually have reason to assume certain things... for example, a lot of the students in my chorus class and study hall thought I was a cutter, because I oftentimes do have small slits on my arms and hands. However, after explaining to them that I have a very tempermental kitty at home they usually leave me alone.

As far as sexuality, I am openly bisexual, so I can't really say wether people assume I'm bi because I'm a goth, or because they saw me acting all lovey-dovey with my ex girlfriend last year. Either way, no one in my school really gives a damn about the sexuality of the other students.

My high school has 'uniforms' White callerd shirt and navyblue bottoms. Most people thought I was a poser/punk or something because I wore a chain as a necklace. My friend used to be a cutter, but I smacked it out of him. Literally. Every time I saw he cut his wrist, I'd take it and smack the cut as hard as I could.
Though, because it's a small school, viciouse romurs fly really fast. One of my friends has been four months pregnant since ast year rolleyes

Same thing for me. It was a really small school so everyone knew each other and rumors started very easily. I've never had any problems with it because I'm very quiet and I mosyly just go unnoticed but a lot of other people I know had to deal with rumors and it's definitely not fun.

Even now that I'm not in high school anymore, people still talk about every single thing we do. For example, when I started going on with my boyfriend, everyone knew within a week and they all talked about it. I hate knowing that people are saying things behind my back but I know I'm not the only one.

They never really assumed anything untrue about me though, mostly because, as I said, I'm not the kind of girl who attracts attention a lot so they had nothing to say about me. But I understand what you mean. People just act stupid sometimes and there's nothing you can do about it I guess, except waiting for them to grow up a bit.

Well I actually am Luciferic, and live in a very Christian community. (I swear if anyone tells them I’ll kill you and use your corpse as a median to resurrect a dead skunk.)

Any who, if they found out I’d probably be expelled from school (which you cant wear: Chains, pentagrams, gory shirts, fishnet, Metal Band logos, and others.) Basically if you saw me at school, you would never peg me as being a decked out goth on the weekend.

I went to a Catholic School before. they called me satanist, but I thought it was funny. I WISH I could go to an all goth school. that'd be cool. anyone who thinks bad of gothics without knowing them can burn for it.

Ha, people often whisper about my "gothness" behind (and in front of) my back.
Kinda amusing, really, how being that way grants you a sort of fear from others.
As if I'd do anything to harm them if they pissed me off.
After all,
I'm just a perfect little angel!

they think other things too.BUT, I don't feel like typing all that. A bunch of people ask me if I worship the devil.I tell 'em I believe he exist. a question of If I believe in god.Again, I believe he isist. Then they ask if I cut myself.I don't see it as their buisness to ask but I still say no.(I did for a while when I was bored but I stopped.)

Well my high school and the college I go to now both are too Christian in that aspect, but most people are pretty considerate when it comes towards me and others and refrain from stereotyping, though most of the younger kids are apparently afraid of me so I discount them, but overall their pretty considerate of who we are which is a rare blessing really.

I live in a little town in FL, that thinks the best fashion is camo pants, a dixie outfitter's shirt, and a baseball cap. Nevertheless, I and a small group of my friends who recently graduated from our small town school, were the only "Goth" kids in a town full of people who seem to think black equals satan, chains equal anti-christian beliefs, and any long hair for guys (besides Mullets, ha ha ha!) must mean the offending male is Homosexual. Anyway, having grown up as the smart kid that everybody loved, and realizing that I hated my life like that, I started wearing black, got a chain wallet, and stayed away from people that didn't agree with my morals. Needless to say, i became "Unpopular" very quickly. I don't care what they may think, I am not living for them, which by extension, means that I only care about what those I trust, those I love, and otherwise close people say or believe. Anyway, tell everyone who doesn't seem to understand and doesn't try to, that while you value their opinion, you simply have to go your own way, and you'll face the consequences when it's all over with.

Well, one thing I hated is at my old school, Which was a Christian school, they told people not to wear lots of black or even semi-goth clothes because it was Un-Christian. I told them that nowhere in the Bible does it state that you should dress a certain way. They went to uniforms for the younger students this year and made the high school dresscode quite a bit stricter.

Note: I am Christian, but I tend to be accepting of most people unless they antagonize me. I also hate all the idiotic "definitions " of what people who have those belief should be like.

I got really lucky actually. I live in a small christian town but our Youth pastor was a goth at one point so everyone in our town pretty much is okay with it. It only bothers a select few. Its actually quite funny because I almost DO go to a goth school considering that anyone who is not is a major minority. Most of the kids at our school are either Punk, emo, or goth. We have so many different types of goths as well: Cyber goths, renaissance goths, etc.

i wear black and white in a fashionable way, i also wear grey... but they don't care, they still call me goth... it has died down a bit, because i beat the s**t out of all people who say that, but it's still a problem for the people who do not defend themselves... emo
