Restate the information in each sentence by starting with the boldfaced word or words.

Das Beispiel:
Gabis Freund heisst Klaus.
Klaus heisst Gabis Freund.

1. Klaus ist Musiker von Beruf. [Klaus is a musician by occupation.]

Is this correct?
"Von Beruf ist Klaus Musiker." [By occupation is Klaus a musician.]

Would it not be better to say "ein Musiker"? a musician?

The rest of this Übung:
2. Er wohnt jetzt in Berlin.
3. Er findet Berlin ganz fantastisch.
4. Er spielt oft im Jazzclub.
5. Sein Hobby ist Motorrad fahren.
6. Er arbeitet nächstes Jahr in Wien.

My answers, in white font:
2. Jetzt wohnt er in Berlin. Now [he lives] in Berlin.
3. Berlin findet er ganz fantastisch. Berlin [he finds] very fantastic.
4. Oft spielt er im (o in dem) Jazzclub. Often [he plays] in the Jazzclub.
5. Motorrad fahren ist sein Hobby. Motorcycle-riding is your (formal) hobby.
6. Nächstes Jahr er arbeitet in Wien. Next year he works in Wien.

Yeah that's right and don't say ein musiker because a musiker is translated "a musican" so there is no need for an ein.

Actually, two of your answers are wrong.

Remember: verb second

For #6, it would be Nächstes Jahr arbeitet er in Wien.

Also, in #5, you put sein where it should say Sie for formal you. Sein is the verb used for to be.

And they're right. Don't put ANY article in front of Musiker (unless there are more than one) because professions do not need articles.

Number 5 isn't wrong, "sein" is not a verb but a "Personalpronomen", so the sentence says Motorcycle-riding is his hobby.
Aetherius Lamia, I don't know why you wrote your (formal), but the sentence is correctly transformed.
