If someone offered to take you on a free all-expenses-payed tour of Middle Earth where would you insist on going?
If it's not one of the poll options, post your location!
p.s. the locations are limited to prominent places during the War of the Ring because I haven't finished The Silmarillion yet, and there's only so many poll spots.

Rivendell. It's supposedly the perfect retreat {for whatever you like doing!} and I would get to meet a variety of people there, man, elf and hobbit. Plus it has the advantages of being beautiful and comfortable, unlike some of the more dangerous types of destinations you listed. {Giant spiders, anyone?}

But I know darn well that if Gondolin existed, that would be hands down.

I'm sure there's a FEW things that you could enjoy doing elsewhere instead of at Imladris... depending on your hobbies.
Entomology would be a blast in Mirkwood. Learning to ride a horse would probably be best taught and enjoyed at Rohan, and don't get me started on spelunking! wink

I've always loved Rivendell. Trees and waterfalls. And ELVES.

See, I'd say I'd want to visit Rivendell or some such place, but in reality, I'd probably be uncomfortable in an elven city 'cause I'd be nervous I might do something wrong or I wouldn't belong there. Actually, probably best to avoid locals as much as possible. ^^;;
Spelunking does sound quite fun, but spelunking in Middle Earth sounds a bit too dangerous for my taste - who knows what scary creature you may find lurking around, waiting for easy prey? No, actually, if I can bring modern-day gear with me, I'd want to go to the top of Tol Brandir! And I just got through saying I wanted to avoid dangerous things...  But really, wouldn't you?

Of course, getting to Tol Brandir would be the hard part wink I don't think you would want to use a helicopter, you might scare the locals.

I'd choose Mirkwood (during the middle to late third age). I've always enjoyed deep dark woods (must have been all those creepy Scout camps I went to as a kid..) and it would be neat to "stumble" across an abandoned Dol Guldor. biggrin Of course, I WOULDN NOT want to do this all alone... I'd bring my trusty Boothy! He's an ex scout, just like me 3nodding
