The Empire effectively ends at the Hadarac Desert, which fills the heart of Alagaësia. Without the Dragon Riders, it is simply too difficult to maintain a government over the vast tract of desolate earth. In fact, the desert is one of the few things that prevents the king from expanding the Empire to include all of eastern Alagaësia. The Hadarac Desert is the ancestral land of the dragons. Currently, nothing lives in the desert besides a few roaming slavers and bandits who look prey on weary travelers in the area.

Xirir flew at an awesome speed as Kylaen readied for combat. He'd find these Riders and await the others. While he may be able to take one maybe two down, the third, if competent, would slay him while he did the same to the others.
The Beors loomed in the distance.

Clarisse steered Korr and said, "Let's enter the Hadarac -- officially!" Korr nodded and leaned his head into the air and flew. Clarisse glanced back once to make sure that Minroa and her dragon were there, and then she turned her head back to face forward. Clarisse didn't even squint, even though the sun was very bright.
It was because Clarisse was one very adaptable elf. Maybe that's why she was okay with moving about, on quests for King Galbatorix.

Minroa followed not very far behind. She did squint to see the stunning silver dragon Clarisse was riding and the sun blinding her eyes.
Seven days hmm? Minroa asked Clarisse.

Clarisse nodded and said, "Seven days..."
((Yes, let's just pretend that they set out on their quest 7 days earlier than the current stand-point. wink That's why I like RPing in past-tense! YAY!))
Seven days later, Korr was now hovering at the Beor Mountains. "Here we are," announced Clarisse. She paused before saying, "Let's go get them."
