Maharet wondered down the dark street towards her shop which she expected was in dire need of a decent cleaning and alot of dusting. How long had it been? A month...two... maybe three. Time never seemed to matter. She had seen to much of it. The name of her shop always amused her and that was probably the reason she chose it. A demon from the beliefs of the vile creature that cursed her to live in death forever. The demon of judgement that ate those who were unworthy of an afterlife. And then there was Amenta...the underworld, the land of the setting sun.
She was allready dead so this was her afterlife. Her underworld if you will. She softly sighed to herself before opening the door to her shop and walking in with her new book in hand.
She turned on a soft light that dimly lit up the dusty shelves. It would take almost all night to straighten everything properly but at least it would give her some amusement.

Rafe walked down the road, yawning slightly. It was nighttime, and she could be doing a number of things, but she didn't feel like doing anything that was offered around here. The bar looked boring, and almost all the stores were closed. She sighed and pushed her hair behind her ears.
"God, why am I so boring?" she wondered to the sky. When she brought her head back down, she noticed some movement in one of the windows. She wandered over and pushed the door open to see someone cleaning some dusty shelves.
'What the heck' she thought, then said out loud, "Hey, do you want some help cleaning all of this?"

Maharet didn't turn as the door opened. The movement brought in the wind and the intoxicating smell of a rare blood. She continued dusting as the girl spoke to her.
Once the question was past the girls lips she turned slowly to face her. She made her lips curl just enough to seem somewhat inviting. The blood building up around her eyes was just beginning to get annoying she would have to hunt sometime this week but for now it shouldn't be visible to most. She brushed a loose strand of red from her face.
"Are you looking for a job or just a way to kill some time? Either way the help would be appreciated." She said softly.

Rafe blinked; something seemed a little off about this girl. Then she shrugged. It wasn't her place to judge others, god knew she wasn't normal herself.
"Either would be awesome. It's pretty boring around here, but I have been looking for a job." She glanced around at the room, then looked down and ran her finger over the counter she was sitting on, grimacing at the layer of dust. "Man, how long has it been since anyone's been here? It's a good thing I came, or you'd be cleaning in here till the end of time"

Maharet lightly smiled at the girl, making sure her teeth were well hidden as was her habit to do. It was a good thing she had stopped by the tea house before going to the shop. The blood made her at least somewhat passable. The years made it harder and harder to seem human. Her skin was cold but with the blood she could pass it off as bad circulation. As long as she reminded herself to make her body breathe she should be fine.
"I was called out of the country for some business. I haven't been around for over three months. If you want the job the hours will be odd. I'm very lenient for the most part. My rules are simple. Do your work and Stay out of the locked room upstairs. Other than that I don't particularly care. If thats fine you can consider yourself hired." She said in brusk manner.
"You can start with the window display if you like." She said in a softer tone. She knew she should keep people away but....life was an addicting thing to have around after you've lost yours.

Dierdre sighed and looked at the little shop. It was as if she were a mere wraith on the wind now a days. There really was only one reason to keep moving, but that reason had left her recently. There would be other days to keep moving through, this was just another one of them.
It was sad really.
She wondered what this store had to offer through the monotony of life. Slowly she opened the door and drifted in.

"No problem!" She looked around, then grabbed a duster off of one of the shelves and started dusting. "And don't worry about your locked room. You've got your secrets, I've got mine." She winked, smiling "I do hope we'll gain each other's trust in time though. And if you don't mind me asking, where did you go on your trip? I've always wanted to get out of this country, but I've never had a real reason to."
She turned slightly as another person walked, no, more like drifted in. She looked over the newcomer, then shrugged and started dusting again. She had work to do, and she was sure the storekeeper would greet her.

Maharet watched as the girl set about to her task. She could help but let her eyes wander over her. She turned back to the books before her. She looked back over with just enough time to catch a wink from the girl. This could prove quite interesting.
The door opened just as she was going to reply to the girl. She glanced over and smiled at the woman she had seen earlier in the tea shop."Welcome to Ammut Amenta" A slight accent hinted as the name flowed past her cold lips. "Forgive the mess we're just reopening."

Dierdre looked over to the red head. She nodded and looked around the shop. It was quite dusty. But she kind of thought it brought a bit of a charm to it. She allowed a small smile to quirk her lips up thoughtfully.
Slowly she drifted through the shop, her feet not making a sound on the dusty floor. She looked over the small trinkets, books, and other things that the shop contained.

Rafe sneezed, then sneezed three more times. "Oh, sorry, I have bad allergies. I'll be fine, just..." She grabbed a bandanna out of her pocket and tied it around her mouth and nose "... perfect!" She dusted a tiny bit more, than bowed with a flourish. "And I'm done! Where to next? Or do you want me to arrange them a little bit? I could make them a little more organized."

Maharet kept an eye on the customer as she turned back to answer the girls question. She just barely opened her mouth when the girl sneezed.
Maharet blinked and the girl sneezed again and twice more. She looked slightly puzzled for a bit until she processed exactly what it was. She wasn't used to such noises coming from any of the creatures she normally associated with. Of course she wasn't aware of any like her that sneezed...after all they rarely took a breath unless they were new or trying to appear more human. Which reminded her to make her lungs work at pushing her chest in case anyone was paying attention.
She watched the girl go about dusting with a lively vigor that made her slightly hungry despite her earlier meal. She was far too old to drink to satisfaction.
"Organization would be a very nice thing to have. I tend to simply place things in a general area depending on what they are and where there from. You're welcome to organize however you see fit. Thank you ....umm well I don't think we've actually had proper introductions. I'm Maharet." She lightly nodded in greeting hoping that she could avoid a handshake.

"Oh.. guess I forgot my manners..." Rafe scratched the back of her head. "My name's Rafaella, but I mostly go by Rafe. Nice to meet you!" She reached out her hand, then dropped it when Maharet just stared at it. "Um... I guess I'll just start organizing then..."
She turned back to the display. She felt slightly unnerved by her new employer, but quickly forgot as she got absorbed in the cleaning. Her mind started drifting. It was weird, really, to be doing grunt work again, but somehow satisfying. She would be stuck in her office, monitering her employees right now if they hadn't forced her to get out of the office and use up all the vacation hours she had stockpiled (about half a month). It was probably a good thing, since she only ever took a day off a month on the full moon and people were starting to get suspicious.
She leaned back and wiped off her forehead, then went back to arranging. It was really nice to just be in a place where people didn't know anything about her and weren't suspicious at all.

Maharet watched the girl work. The awkward moment where the girl offered her hand was making her second guess herself. She should learn. Living things despised creatures like herself. There was always fear, hatred or both. Yet....she craved that bit of life. She wanted to be close to it. Much like a moth to the flame.
She softly sighed to herself and moved over to a special cabinet. She pulled the book that she had received at the tea house earlier. It was a gorgeous old book that held many secrets of the eastern vampires. This had been her interest of late. Others that were similar to her. She knew how her breed came about yet knew next to nothing about other breeds. She was most curious as to how they were created which was something she hoped this book contained.
She delicately opened the book and turned to the first page to get somewhat of a preview before she would continue her cleaning.

Maharet flipped through the delicate pages, somewhat lost. Her breathing had stopped but she didn't take much notice to that. The book had an entrancing appeal to it that she assumed would make it a decent read. She shut it softly and walked to a room behind the counter. Her storage room. She placed in on a shelf with the books she was going to keep or was reading before moving to the other side of the little room.
She picked up a box and walked back out to the main area of the store. "These need to go out." She said as she softly set the box out on the counter. In the box she knew there was an assortment of things she had picked up on her last trip to Egypt and Northern Africa. She had been looking for something but had failed on that mission. It seemed that perhaps the sands of time had claimed another victim. However she was still searching for that one piece of her daughter that could possibly exist. She looked quite sad for a moment and lightly sighed at the thought of it all.

Dierdre picked up a book and flipped through the pages silently. She sighed and put it down moving on to the next thing that drew her attention. It was a small trinket, but it seemed to afix her attention. It was a dark haired woman. She was dressed in a deep green gown seated upon a stump. Her feet weren't visible through the weeds that grew around her, anchoring her there as if she were the tree itself and they were her roots. She seemed so familiar, yet so alien to her. It really made no sense. She looked at the sign under the small statue's feet. "DRUANTIA; 'Queen of the Druids'" And it continued on with a small description of the goddess.
Suddenly Dierdre had a sense of longing and a flash of deep forests and green. It was musty and hot for a moment. Then she was back in the shop. She had to get this statue for some reason. Why did she seem so.. so.. So familiar? Why when she didn't remember.
She had to remember soon. She didn't get the money out, and she didn't ask the price, just moved on. She would ask later.
