NAME Aurielle V. Bachelot
GENDER Female
AGE 17 [actual] // ~20 [appearance]
RACE Pennier [Osprey/Black Hawk]
HOMETOWN Chateaulieu, Ravelle
One of the older towns of Ravelle, Chateaulieu is located directly to the South (not sure since map didn't really have a key on it to label which way's North, so I just assumed North is up) of Esprevere on the coast. It's on the inside of a bay, which made it a natural harbor. It was first established actually by a group of fishermen from farther down the coast as a marketplace to exchange fish with the folks that lived frather inland, expanding eventually into the port city it is today after a merchant-lord invested a large amount of money into it for mysterious reasons. Most people who are permanent dwellers here are skilled tradesmen (of various races). To protect it from pirate raids, a fleet of the Royal Navy is stationed here. The church is not very strong here, considering the constant influx of foreigners and the number of non-Penniers dwelling within the city; nevertheless, there is one very large cathedral constructed in the center of the town dedicated to the goddess. It is governed by a Council consisting of the Heads of Guilds, the Admiral in command of the Naval fleet, and the Priest with at least one representative member from each of the races of the City as to make all decisions fair. As idyllic as it may sounds, Chateaulieu (like all big cities) has its fair share of the poor. The eastern corner of the city is where the shoddier buildings stand. Large groups of shoeless, raggedy children could usually be seen running around playing games. The streets are in poorer condition and the goods purchased here, while usually lower in quality, are also much cheaper. The Thief’s Guild is based somewhere here, though it’s exact location is a mystery.
After the Fin de Saison movement Chateualieu took in a small group of the movement's sympathizers. They vanished into the poorer districts of Chateaulieu. There's a rumor going around that the movement is secretly recruiting new members under its banner, though it's very possible that the rumor is just a rumor, nothing more.
OCCUPATION Adventurer/First Mate to Takim Vannshir
Recently partnered up. She got the position through very good connections.
APPEARANCE
Wings That’s what her wings are like, only black [instead of dark brown] with white specks due to her mixed osprey/hawk heritage.
Aurielle leans towards the bigger, taller portion of the Pennier population considering her lineage with both parents hailing from the big, hunting avian group. However, her build is not so noticeable as that she would tower over others of her kind. She does feel sometimes that her wings are too bulky, but they are powerful enough to carry her over a longer distance than the average expected distance. Her features are very sharp [x][x] and chiseled; it's very easy for people to mistaken her impassive face for an agressive, even haughty one. Her eyes are the colors of molten gold and copper combined, a mix of dark orange and light yellow, and sometimes they would glow eerily in the darkness (creepy). Her hair is always something of an attention grabber, not only due to their snowy color but also due to the fact that it’s always pinned up in a strange, complex series of braids [only when she’s older]. There are streaks of black in her hair, most prominently in her bangs; however, since she hates the tainted look of it and the lack of uniformity the black streaks create, she likes to dye them completely white.
Working on finding more Refs.

PERSONALITY
+Very sarcastic and witty (so she likes to think)

+Enjoys pretending to know everything
+Dubious, not very trusting
+Very serious about what she does but about almost nothing else
+A little vain... just a little
+Holds grudges... while she's relatively easygoing, once you've made an enemy out of her... you've made an enemy for life. Unless, of course, you appologize quickly.
+Impatient, but has very tight control on her temper (this control comes later in life, as she learns more about her magic)
+Relatively honest, though she'll spin her words around and be vague and teeter on the edge of falsehood if needed be
+She doesn't hold very strong beliefs, and could be a little indecisive most of the time. However, she does act quickly in dire situations and could be trusted to remain faithful, at least, to her friends.
+Avid learner... she likes to learn. She holds the belief that the best way to learn is through people who are already well versed within their craft; not much of a book-worm, this one is
+Comfortable with talking strangers... a little too comfortable, sometimes. She's careful about what she says, though, and never lets anything slips away
+Not good with authority figures... even if she is one, haha. She's disdainful of the rich and especially the nobles that are rich.
+She doesn't like to bring her own brief past into question; and she doesn't question others about their past either.
+Still a little naive, considering her young age... but she's mature, for a 17 years old
HISTORY
Once upon a time, in Ravelle, the beautiful land of the winged Penniers, there was a happy family who seemed to live in a world that existed outside the stream of time. Their life was untouched by poverty, sickness, and any other ills that existed in this world because they were nobles. The Bachelot family was one of minor nobility, but it promised the happiness of the child. Duc Nicholas and his wife, Karmen, did everything to shelter their one child - Aurielle Valerie Bachelot. They hired the best tutors for her - dancing lessons, fencing lessons, and a private religious mentor, she had them all. All was looking swell - Aurielle was on her way to becoming a proper lady.
Of course, as a nobleman Nicholas Bachelot did report to Esprevere frequently, and finally, at then age of ten, Aurielle was brought to the glorious capital of Ravelle in typical noble fashion. Accompanying her mother, she attended countless balls - while it was still a bit early, her parents wanted to find a potential husband for her. They wanted a secure future for her, after all, as all parents ought to want for their child{ren}. As the two Bachelots attended their balls, the Duc continued his regular business. He frequently visited his friends on the streets, being one of those rare men who did not believe in separate by rank. It was by a twist of fate that he became involved in the Fin de Saison movement, which had been relatively quiet and low-down in the streets until then.
He became more idealic, separated from the rest of the nobles. He often held Aurielle in his laps and talked to her about the wrongs of the government, and the things that needed to be changed, etc. leaving her with a deep impression of him as a believer of something greater even than the Goddess. Strangers came to their household - people that were dressed in rags, people that gave off unpleasant smells, people under cloaks and even people that were younger than her. They came and went, and there was one she remembered distinctly - one that was also of noble rank, higher than theirs but just as amiable as her father. She had liked him at first...
But he would turn out to be the traitor.
His face became one that was engraved into his face forever, and his name... she only remembered half of it, but with that, she had sworn to find this traitor and kill him with her own hands. You see, when she was thirteen the Fin de Saison took a more violent turn. Nicholas's older brother became involved as well, thus putting the entire Bachelot family in danger. Forseeing events that would come, Theo (Aurielle's Uncle) sent the family out by night. Bound by a sense of responsibility, Nicholas bid his own wife and child goodbye in order to escort his brother's wife and children somewhere to the North, where as Aurielle and Karmen went South with another group of women and children, family of other members of the movement. They promised to meet again in Chateaulieu.
A few months later, it was announced throughout the land that the family of Bachelot, along with a few other minor noble lineages were now declared traitors of the nation. Not only that, Theo [Aurielle heard later] was executed in public. The money that they had brought with them were long gone, depleted by rent and food and other nececessities. Fallen from grace, the two poverty-striken Bachelot women had to taste the bitterness that had driven the poor of Esprevere to rebel against the government. Finally understanding what her father had talked about, Aurielle became set against the King and all of his followers. It didn't take her long to realize the whose name had been missing from the list and at least hypothesize how such an abrupt end had came about for the fervent and passionate members of Fin de Saison.
While Karmen continued to visit the church regularly, all of Aurielle's believes in Aileism ceased to be. She saw the riches and the glamor of the church as decadent and the religious order to be corrupt. Faithless, she wandered the streets and suffered endless miseries as she and her mother scrapped for a living; they were ridiculed by the better-off folks of Chateaulieu regularly, something that made Aurielle angry enough to turn to the Thief Lord. She kept this from her mother, who would've been without a doubt horrified by the dirtiness that Aurielle would pick up in the sewers, the most convinient escape routes. However, after a year under the wing of the Thief Lord and steadily rising in the Guild, Aurielle discovered her magic in a most unfortunate manner - in a rage [and in the middle of a storm, might I add] she had almost fried an entire building to ashes. Realizing that she could no longer stay in Chateaulieu, she bid her farewells and left. Her mother was, of course, sad to see her daughter to go - but one, she realized that the girl needed to seek a future somehow, and two, she was already dwelling too much in the past, living life as a shadow of her former jubilant self. She lacked the power to stop Aurielle, anyways.
So, roaming here and there, Aurielle did odd jobs while studying with various mentors. After two years, she has at last gained some competance and control as well as wealth under her name. Through an introduction letter from her latest teacher, she got hired on by the Taltharis Merchants and after familiarizing herself some more with seacraft, she became First Mate [mainly because of her magic] to the young captain named Takim Vaanshir. Of course, she's still learning tidbits from the crew members who are rather tickled by the presence of such a young woman aboard.
It was a matter of curiosity that brought her to the Asterion League HQ. Memories of her father lured her here to seek if anybody had seen the man who was presumed dead by so many, that, and further improvement of her magical skills...
COMMON KNOWLEDGE
+She hails from a coastal city in the South [[because of her very faint accent in speech]]
+Not much is really known about her childhood or her family background, though after knowing her for a while, one may note the faint bitter note in her voice when she talks about the Aristocratic class, especially that of Ravelle
+She holds some sort of grudge against someone somewhere; this may appear to be her sole drive in life sometimes
+She has mysterious connections with the less lawful half of society while maintaining the reputation of a perfect model citizen =D
+Obviously, not exactly the most religious sort… though she is kind of OCD about cleanliness
+Been to many places.
DIVISION Offensive Magic+ minor Defensive Magic // Ranged Weaponry
CLASS PROGRESSION Ambient Mage > Storm Sage > Valkyrie
Inspired by Tamora Pierce’s Circle series… in particular the character known as Trisana Chandler.
Here’s what I got from Wikipedia describing the powers of Tris:
“Tris has ambient magic with weather and the earth, affecting various types of elemental currents, such as the flow of magma or the ocean tides. She is the only known weather mage that can predict the weather accurately, one hundred percent of the time. She stores her magic, as well as raw power, in her hair, which she braids in specific magical patterns taught to her by her foster-sister, Sandry. The braids allow her to keep vast amounts of power with her at all times and can only be unpinned by Tris.” Etc.
Ambient mages basically draw their powers off whatever their magic’s aligned to.
Ambient Mage: Explained above… nowhere as powerful as Tris is, though. >.< This is just like sending little breezes around, call for brief showers… The element that she’s most familiarized at the moment would be lightning. She can send minor, numbing shocks all over you.
Melee +0, Ranged +1, Magic/Other +4
HP >> 25, Evade >> 12
Storm Sage: At this stage Aurielle’s magic becomes more aggressive. She has learned to combine it with the art of war: imbuing a fork of lightning into a sword, for example, or forming a twister in wake of a flying arrow (like, horizontally). At this point she definitely has gained much more control of all of her powers. She could call for fog or shield vast areas from rain. Right now she would be most familiarized with the elements concerning storms: lightning, wind, and water. Not a shock really, concerning she’s a Pennier and most likely would be in the air in a battle anyways. She has started doing the braids… though with her level of power she has braided only two minor braids (storing lightning) and then two bigger ones in the back of her head with wind contained in them.
Melee +0, Ranged +2, Magic/Other +8
HP >> 35, Evade >> 16
Valkyrie: Originates from Norse legends. However, the abilities of the class are actually different from the functions of the actual race known as Valkyrie.
Basically it’s sort of a Warrior magus type. Since Penniers have wings, it’s so much more convenient for Aurielle to become the embodiment of the Angel of War image. At this point she has mastered controlling the wind to enable herself full flight (well, as long as there’s wind around). This serves as a handy skill for scouting, of course, as well as keeping her well out of the range of some ground-bound opponents. She is more familiarized with ranged weaponry at this stage as well, primarily the bow. Nevertheless, magic is still her most potent weapon. Kind of a flying version of Tris now, I guess. Or Storm from X-men, only with wings!!!! D:

SPECIAL SKILLS
Lv. 1
Negative Stat Effect (Evade): You are able to negatively effect a target's evade. The associated bonus is +2/+4/+6 depending on job level. The effect lasts 1, 2, or 3 rounds depending on job level. Roll a d20 after casting this spell; if a 19-20 is rolled the character is prevented from taking any action for 1, 2 or 3 rounds depending on the caster's class level. They are asleep or frozen in place or tangled in vines, etc. Example: Slow, sleep. This is a magic/other skill. See point requirement chart.
Specifics: She uses either Lightning to paralyze her opponents, or use wind to completely bind them in place.
Lv.2
Signature Move: Your character has trained in a special move that does greater damage than they usually perform. Unfortunately this move is exhausting and may not be performed often. For this special attack you may stack two bonuses, ie. d20+melee+ranged and use this in both determining success of attack as well as damage. All buffs continue to take effect. At level 2, you can use this skill once per battle. At level 3 you can use this skill twice per battle, but not consecutively. You may not take this skill at level 1. Examples of this skills usage are Dragoon's High Jump (melee+ranged) and Elementally Charged Strikes (m/o+melee or m/o+ranged). There is no point requirement
Specifics: This involves her bow, plus all the fury of wind and thunder that she may summon. She charges an arrow up with lightning and then shoots it, powered by a powerful gust of wind. At the exactly second before it hits the target, the lightning is discharged to achieve maximum damage.
Lv.3
Positive Stat Effect: You are able to positively effect a target's melee, ranged, or magic/other. The associated bonus is +3/+6/+9 depending on job level. The effect lasts 1, 2, or 3 rounds depending on job level. If you have this skill, you have access all of it's potential uses. So your character is not restricted to just boosting melee, they can also boost ranged and magic. Examples include: Str Up. This is a magic/other skill. See point requirement chart. Target can be (self only) or (any).
Specifics: The possibilities are almost endless!!! biggrin This isn't exactly orthodox magic... but I don't know if it wound work like, if she charges somebody's sword it would add to their melee and then with a wind boosting the arrow boost the ranged stats of that person?
Narrative Skills
[[Magical Flight + Levitation]] These skills are independent of her wings and instead depend on the wind which she conjures. Flight time enhanced by usage of wings.
[[Tracking]]With the wind, she is able to follow scents left behind in the air. This is also a useful skill to find resources such as water, food, etc. etc.
[[Learn]] Picking up small skills - like cooking, tying knots, etc. This helps her adapt easily to her surroundings as well as understand instructions. It's easy for her to survive: as long as there's a good teacher around.
[[Lock picking]] While her skills might be a bit rusty, she didn't spend all that time under the Thief Lord for nothing!
WEAPON Crossbow, may eventually switch into a long bow or even short bow
LEVEL One
POINT ASSIGNMENT Melee (+0), Ranged (+1), Magic/Other (+4)
HIT POINTS 25
EVADE 12
OTHER NOTES Well, I figured that since Aurielle’s kind of a mage/archer combo it’d be bad to just give her the mage status because she’d be so clumsy. However, since she’s still mostly a mage I figured I’d just base her stats off of that. I nullified the -3 HP bonus due to the Pennier race and as suggested, leaned more towards the melee evade advancement. >.<
