I am going to list the novels and short stories in chronological order for those who would like to read them in the correct time sequence of events instead of publication sequence. Hopefully this will somewhat assist in our rps so members can find the proper story references.

DRAGONSEYE

This picks up towards the end of the first fall. It tells of the colonists efforts to build a viable society as their technology begins to degrade. as well as the problem of leaving some sort of permanent fool proof warning system of the emminent onset of threadfalls for their pastorial society descendents.

DRAGON BLOOD*

This novel will be listed twice since it takes place in two seperate time periods. One segment of the tale takes place at the end of first fall. Wind Blossom, the daughter of Kitti Ping, from the original colonists is now one of the oldest living people on Pern.
The last remnants of technology are nearly gone, power packs nearly drained, the last of the computers crashing and the last of the high tech drugs almost gone.

The other part of the story is during the beginning of the third fall.
It is a time hopping story, flipping back and forth between the two time periods.
A epidemic is killing dragons in the future and by accident Wind Blossom finds out.

MORETA, NERILKA'S STORY

These are companion stories taking place almost similtanously. This is the tale of Moreta and her epic ride, to save the human population of Pern from a deadly flu like epidemic, at the beginning of the fourth fall.
Nerlika is the last remaining daughter of the self-centered Lord of Fort Hold. She rejected her father's actions and bloodline to aid in the search for a cure.

Masterharper of Pern

This book begins about fifty years before the start of the Ninth Pass, and chronicles the life of Masterharper Robinton, from his birth to the scene where Fax dies. It's worth noting that Robinton lives to be ninety-something, on a planet with far lower-tech health care. It's not a vital read, since it doesn't deal much with dragonriders (except the ones that visit Robinton; they like talking to him), however it's fun to find out where many of the characters of the Ninth Pass come from, what really happened to F'lar's father F'lon, and so on and so forth.

Dragonflight

This book was the first published, and takes place just before and at the beginning of the Ninth Pass. It details the rise of Lessa from hiding from Fax as a drudge in Ruatha Hold to becoming Weyrwoman at the planet's last Weyr, Benden, and details her ingenious solution to the Five Empty Weyrs and the resulting severe lack of dragons.

Dragonquest

Dragonquest picks up seven Turns after the end of Dragonflight, and chronicles the Holders' disaffection with the five Oldtime Weyrs- which are rarely flying Thread, demanding excessive tithes, and taking whatever else they have a mind to. Jaxom and Felessan discover ancient rooms in Benden Weyr, and as a result of finding a microscope, Pern now has telescopes and begins to wonder about the Red Star. At the same time Brekke's queen is nearing maturity, and F'nor begins to wonder if the age-old rule that only bronzes fly queens can be broken. This book also tells of the first person to travel to the Red Star- F'nor!
