Mr. Ross arranged his desk neatly with assorted knick-knacks and papers. He zipped around the large open room arranging things and bolting the windows. In 'Elemental Class', the elements have to be in a controlled state to ensure safety. Soon, the classroom was ready. So he started jotting down notes on the board about elemental control. This should be interesting..He thought as he sat down, looking back at the board.

Myles walks in, a bit early, holding a slip of paper.
"Mr. Ross? My name's Myles Million, and I'm supposed to give you this. It pretty much just says that I don't have any magical ability, so my participation in this class is going to be limited to the physical abilities I have, which are electrical in nature."
And then he sneezes, and little eletrical sparks fly around his mouth.

Ross chuckled at the student's small electrical discharge. A stray spark flew towards him and he absorbed it with his hand. "I see...Well, looks like I'm going to have to help you out with one of my favorite elements, electricity." Ross put his right pointer finger up and a spark flew out and hovered above it, growing in circumference. Then it was absorbed back into his finger. "Well..." He walked over to his desk and pulled out a lightning rod. "I'll teach you a little before the rest of the students arrive." He placed the rod on the floor and it extended about 5 feet into the air. "Let's start with the basics..."

Myles watches Mr. Ross set up the lighting rod. "Okay."

"First of all, loosen up." Ross told Myles. He took a small ruler out of his back pocket and tapped Myles on the shoulders, signifying him to loosen them. "The more you tense, the more uncontrollable the electric current will be." Ross got in a standing position, his feet shoulder width apart. "Now, when first conjuring the current, you must feel the current within you. This, in turn, can give you more control over it." Ross closed his eyes and visualized a rushing electric current through him. "Then, you must focus where the current will exit the body." He lifted his arm and his palm started to crackle and hiss. "And then, when you've gotten that down, focus on where you want to strike." Ross turned his back to the lightning rod even though that was where he was targeting. "And then after that, you let it fly!" Ross shot a bolt of electricity out of his palm and it started to shoot around the room. He opened his eyes and pointed at the bolt. Soon, the bolt synced with his finger and followed it wherever he pointed. Then, he pointed at the head of the rod and the bolt shocked into it. A small green light shown at the base of the rod, showing how much electricity was in it. It shown 30 watts. "When you get these basics down, you'll soon learn how to control it after you've shot it." Ross walked to his chair and sat down. "Now. You try it..." He told Myles. "Remember everything I did..."

"I see. I could see the static potentials change as you did that."
He relaxes, and holds out his hand, flexing his fingers as he feels the static buildup.
"It feels like a rubber band. Pull it harder until..." SNAP! A bolt arcs from his hand to the rod, and lights up the meter.
"I understand enough about electricity to know that it goes to prominent targets like the rod first, I imagine that it's a bit harder to make it avoid hitting the most obvious targets like that without magic."

Ross chuckled. "No dear boy. Controlling it deals with no magic; except when you're conjuring it. After that, it's all about concentration." Ross got up and walked over to Myles. "Try again. This time concentrate harder as the bolt leaves your body. But first..." Ross went over to the lightning rod and pressed a small button on the side. A large glowing energy ball slid out of a now open compartment with some electricity bouncing in it. About 70 watts worth. Ross submerged his hand into the sphere and the electricity shot up his arm and merged with his core again. He took his hand out and put the sphere back in the compartment where he closed it up. "...Now, we're ready..."

He concentrates again, feeling the ions build up in his body. He holds out his hand, but this time closes his eyes, trying to feel the room very carefully.
"I get it. All it needs is a path to travel along. Change the ions in the air, and the charge can only travel the path you give it."
Not even bothering to open his eyes, he builds up the charge again and releases a crackling bolt that arcs a little bit wider than a natural bolt before curving back towards the rod.
He tries it again, and this time the bolt almost make a loop before striking the rod.

Ross clapped his hands."Very good, Mr. Million. You're learning. That's very good." He walked over and emptied the electrical force from the rod. "Now again. This time...with your eyes open." Ross sat on the edge of his huge desk and watched Myles with renewed interest. His powers are great...he just has to learn how to control them...He thought...

He opens his eyes with a surprised look on his face. "Huh? Oh. I guess I did have my eyes closed. I could feel the air and the target and the objects in the room, I just didn't think of needing to see it."

Ross chuckled slightly. "That's the thing. In practice, you don't have to see in order to control it. But in the field, it pays off to know where everything is. Because you could be blindsided by an opponent even if you could tell where they were. You just have to get used to controlling it without closing your eyes..."

He prepares another charge whille talking.
"That's what I mean, especially in this room where the air is so charged already. I can feel everything in this room as surely as if I looked with my eyes. I'm not even looking in your direction and I can 'see' the electrochemical sparks traveling down your nerves and in your brain. If you went to raise your hand, I'd see the command leave your brain to your muscles. I'm pretty certain that, whatever my hybrid half is, the visual sense isn't as important to it as we're used to."
And then he looses a bolt that swings wide of the rod, travels a good five feet beyond it, then arcs back to strike it.
He then turns to Mr Ross and sits on a desk. "I've even been learning to interpret people's emotions by the patterns I see in their brains. It's kind of tricky, but I'm getting better at it."

"Well, regardless, I'm impressed. You've learned a lot for only a few minutes of teaching..." Ross went and sat at his desk. He took out a mini lightning meter and tossed it to Myles. "Here....use that. Store any lightning you need to discharge in there. It'll help you sometimes..."

He looks at it a moment, gives it a little test zap and then studies it with a grin. "Thank you, but I think I'll build my own. The design is simple enough, I think I can improve it, starting with a larger capacitor. Heck, I'll make two and give you the extra."

Ross smiled and nodded. "Alright. Now, since you now the basics, do you think you can manage making mutiples and hitting the rod at different times while controlling all bursts simultaneously?"
