This is a little tutorial for the newbies out there and simple to moderate RP rules.

Before I begin, I'd like everyone to know the differences between Serious RPS and Casual RPs:
Casual
: Most rules will be applied here, but you have a little more freedom and less rules apply here. Casual is mostly for RPiers who don't have much experience in RPing and just care to get creative and enjoy an RP without being too full of rules and be bothered by every little detail (Ex: Overusage of magic, so long as you have a weakness. The good side of it is that the RP lasts longer rather than making it short and the dice rolls with be exercised to deal the final blow and decide who wins the fight.). Some of you may have a problem with that, but that is why we made a Serious RP thread. The Casual thread will have training places where you can practice your RPing skills and get help from experienced RPiers. Once you feel you're ready to move on, you can go to the Serious RP thread.

Serious: Unlike the Casual, serious involves stricter rules and will not be tolerated as much as the casual rps. That thread will be for more advanced Rpiers and those who know the rules and will follow them more. God moding in this thread will be given warnings as well as arguemnts against it. Every rule has to be followed but very few exceptions are made.

Now... On to the lessons!

[Btw, if anyone has any questions, I will make a RP questions/Suggestions thread here and in the serious rps thread! PM me if you like too but better post than pm, my inbox has been veeeery full lately... sweatdrop heart ]

[Note: I copy-pasted most of these rules from my guild. I will edit some with the help of the crew and your suggestions as we go along...]

Lesson one:

Actions
For RP actionsm use these symbols: *, ^, ,(,[,{,-,~ . Just place one at the beining of an action, and one at the very end.

When using Quotation marks, ( "") you just reverse it. Speaking will be inside and everything else outside. It makes it take a little longer, but it makes it easier to make a lot of actions with god moding.

Lesson Two: Grammar!

We aren't grammar Nazis here, but I'm sure everyone would like to know what you are saying...

Two things that help us understand your RPing better: Commas (,) And Quotation Marks ("). Use " for when your character talks, you don't have to, but they help most of the time. You can always use the ** to explain your actions without using the " marks.

Lesson 3: GOD MODING

We all can't deny that we all godmode in some way. And it's not always because we want to but because we don't know how to RP very well or know the rules. Some of us don't always know how to create a character and forget the strengths and weaknesses. Here, we will emphasize god moding, why isn't it allowed most of the time, how to prevent god moding and tips on avoiding it:

There are a lot of different actions, abilities and strengths that can be called 'God Moding'.

The term 'God Moding' means that your character, attacks, items, powers are too strong unlike everyone else's characters. Auto-hitting is also god moding and so is ignoring your opponent's actions as well as two actions that involve attacking. I will show you some examples of god moding auto-hitting-wise and ignoring your opponent's attack:
An auto hit is when you attack twice in different posts and don't let your opponent go when it should be his/her turn.

Example:

P-1: *hits you with hilt on your head*
P-2: *dodges and swings at you*
P-2:*swings sword around and slams it on you*
P-1:*dodges first hit* **Can't do nothing about second hit**

It's unfair to post twice if you didn't let your parnter go next and its around the lines of God Moding or a form of it. So please watch out for that.

Some tips on how to prevent God moding:
~Don't overpower your character. Keep your character true and have powerful abilities used on occasion rather than regularly. Try balancing your characters powers with weaknesses.

~Attacks have to make sense! Use logical poses and attacks that aren't superhuman (And even if you are, give yourself some weaknesses or downfalls to your character).

~Character Stats. If you want to make your character make sense, look up information on what kind of class and race your character wants to be! Then create your own special characteristics, strengths and weaknessess!
