Greetings fellowing mules (and non-mules). Why did you pick your LotR character for your avatar?
I picked Radagast the Brown because I also enjoy the company of animals and nature. I also like the fact that he's a minor (lesser known) character and there isn't as much information about him as there is for other LotR characters. But at the same time, he's a wizard, a being of great potential!

I picked Nimphelos because there weren't enough inanimate objects being used as names, and I've always had a bit of a closet fetish for pearls.
I picked my mules, Maedhros and Maglor, because I adore both of them, and they're really the reason I'm still interested in Middle-earth at all. whee
I have other mules floating around, I think, but I'm not sure which ones...

Neat! I'm not too familiar with Maedhros and Maglor. Who are there?

Characters from the Silmarillion.
The more likeable of the Sons of Feanor.
Or, in my case, quite a bit more than simply likeable... sweatdrop

Maedhros one of the more likeable? I choose Elrond and Caranthir for the same reason as this mule (Thranduil) they are pretty much favorite characters of mine.

I just started reading that for the first time on Wendsday. I'm halfway through "Of The Rings of Power and the Third Age", but I started at "Akallabêth" because I'm a Dúnedain dork. sweatdrop

Hahahaha. Just don't forget to go back. XD Thranduil_of_Greenwood Maedhros one of the more likeable? Compared to Celegorm, Caranthir, and Curufin? I'd sure hope so.

Thranduil_of_Greenwood, how would you feel if someone called you Thranduil_of_Mirkwood? Do you have a preference for a non-Sauron inhabited Greenwood? I know I wouldn't want him lurking around the forests near my (real) home. biggrin

*stands and raises hand* I have no idea why I'm Glorfirith Annun. Especially what with Glorfirith being my most hated time of year...
Anyway, my mules... Which will remain unnamed... one was chosen because I absolutely adore his character... books and movie... and the other main one I got together with a friend and made. The other one I have is a result of said friend pawning him off on me. ^__^
I love all three.

Interesting... nameless mules. Are they nameless because they are akin to Rumpelstiltskin and knowing their real names would give you some great power over them? Or is it more like the Deplorable Word, where speaking their names would kill all the dwarves simultaneously?

Omg, a thread! A real live thread!
:D
I picked Carnistir because -- omg you'll never guess -- he's one of my favourite characters. xD He's certainly not my most favourite, but he's up there. And he has a cool name, which was the most important factor when I created this account as I was a complete Gaia n00b and thought mules were funny horses at the time.
(I'm afraid I don't dress in black, pick on my pretty cousins, or laugh at ugly people. D: But I'm sure I would have if I'd gone to school!)
I then chose Finwe and Ehtelion because I liked their characters and enjoyed roleplaying them, and Findekano was given to me. <3 I also have Maedhros and Nerdanel as non-guild mules because I adore them, was bored, and wanted to dress them up. I was going to make one for every Feanorian but then I got a job. xP

Before I joined the subforum, a year ago last January, I had just gotten back from a trip to visit a friend of mine in Louisiana whom I hadn't seen since the previous June. I was feeling really lonely due to my somewhat antisocial ways and was looking up a whole bunch of names on Gaia which were taken and not being used. My friend is a real Glorfindel freak (though not as much so as Glorfirith) and though she had a group of friends who had all been given names associated with LotR characters from high school, the name Erestor was temporarily shifted to me (though only used like twice and then abandoned) so I thought I'd try to get us the names Erestor and Glorfindel. There was no way to get Erestor, so I just attempted to find the alternative which annoyed me the least and now I have two of them (hopefully I can remedy that in under 1232 days, but I don't count on it). I actually e-mailed the person who had "Glorfindel" and asked if she'd be willing to part with it. By the time she wrote back agreeing though, it was clear my friend wasn't really going to use Gaia, so I told her to keep it. I actually never intended to even post in the subforum on this name or to associate the names but I eventually couldn't help myself with the former, then made the latter rather obvious with my stupid stress-filled outburst last year. Wow, that was way more than anyone actually wants to know.
Frodo was just 'cause I wanted a hobbit to give out presents on his birthday and Frodo was easiest because we know what his is. Well, Bilbo might have worked better since I didn't want to play him seriously, but it's a bit late for that.
I've had two other LotR related names (same account though) in the past, but as they no longer exist and I've gone on and on, I won't bother with them here.

Wow! You have a really good memory to remember all that! I have a hard enough time just remembering the password for my one (and only) mule xp

Menegil.
Hm.
I chose this name a long, long time ago, when I first found the subforum, when my eyes were blissfully closed to the truth of the world. Not the name of a character per se... but nonetheless, I have kept it. =_=
My mule is NAMO! YES, the Vala of death and jailing and curse-weaving! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!
Well, I chose Namo because of all Valar he is the one I like the most. Do not know why. I guess it is his dark and mysterious self that enthralls me.
Now go pester some Orly fangirl, and bring me their heads for the Shrine! =_=
