1) Once you are into the program SAM you will need to make sure the following windows are checked under the tab "window" at the top.
The windows are as follows:
Deck A
Deck B
Voice FX
Playlist
Queue
History
Sound FX (If you want sound fx, some DJs add sounds)
Encoders
Statistic Relays
Once you have those windows up. Please feel free to close any others and rearange the windows so you can properly see.
2) Once you have your windows setup, go to the encoders box. Click the add button (plus sign)
3) Select the mp3 normal choice and hit OK.
4) You want to switch Quality to high, and switch the format to 96kb/s, 44.1kHz, Stereo. <- VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!! If you have anything else it will buffer kill everyone, and then we lose listeners.
5) Click the Server Details, and enter the following info:
Server Type: Shoutcast <- Should already be choosen.
Server IP: 193.37.152.75
Server Port: 8620
Password: Ask Subbie for password.
Station Name: [G]-Radio - (Your Show Name) - <- Make sure you add last hypen. Makes it look good when on radio display.
Genre: Various
Website URL:
http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewforum.php?f=6976AIM: Your AIM (if you don't have one enter nothing)
ICQ: Leave Blank
IRC: Leave Blank
Make sure both checkmark boxes are checked. Click OK If you don't want to save your show to file.
6) Optional: If you would like to record your shows so you can podcast them. Click the Stream Archive tab and check mark Save Stream to file. Now Click Ok.
7) Now you're probably going to want to know how many listeners you have. Click the Plus Sign on Statistic Relays, and do the following:
Click Shoutcast Statistic Relay (should be the one above what is checked.)
Enter in the following:
Host: 193.37.152.75
Port: 8620
Password: Ask Subbie, again.
biggrin Don't click the checkmark box. And hit OK.
cool Now to explain how to connect to broadcast and how to play songs. So no more numbers.
Up at the top you will see buttons. Auto-DJ will allow you to play music continulessly. Which is good if you want to have background music when you talk.
If you want to play your music when you want to. Then you will want to switch it to manual.
(Remember though dead air is a killer)
Manual Mode:
Very simple you double click music you want to play. It then goes in the queue. The ONLY difference from Auto-DJ and Manual is Auto DJ takes music from the queue automatically.
Manual Mode you have to double click it.
Voice FX:
Make sure your Mic On button is clicked on and glowing.
Then push the push to talk button to talk. Or you can hit lock talk if you don't want to hold your mouse button down to talk.
Just remember to uncheck lock mic when you play music. We've had DJs do that before and have personal conversations on air.
History: It will record the songs that you play. If you need any more explination your retarded.
Playlist: Has all your music in it. If you right click on the songs you can use the sort funtion to sort by Artist, Song, etc. Also use the search button. It's VERY handy.
Deck A and Deck B: This is where your music plays. Don't mess with them. If you do you risk your music coming out like crap.
Ok that should be it. Now back to numbers.
9) OMG SUBBIE THERE IS FEEDBACK WHEN I TALK. Well duh your listening to your show. Two things you can do.
A) Hit the mute button. (But it can be tricky when you are playing music)
B) Bypass the voice FX. <- Recommended.
Bypass the voice FX:
Click File
Click Config
Click Audio Mixer Pipeline
There will be a drop down box that says Voice FX Destination
Switch it to encoders.
Click Ok.
Done.
10) Subbie how do I connect to play? Well until everyone gets settled, and I teach everyone how to boot the auto-bot. Contact me.
We'll do a countdown. like connect in 1 min...until a 5,4,3,2,1 countdown.
Then you hit the play button ( which is a sideways Triangle, duh)
If your status goes to encoding, then you are on the air. I usually have music playing when I connect. Yes the listeners will miss some music BUT no dead air.
11) Your listeners will show up in a few seconds.
