Late Afternoon, Downers
Writ and Crow playfully chased each other on the way to visit the newest member of the Game, Jubs. Although both were trying to be careful with showing off too much, it was obvious that Crow no longer held the top speed record of the players. Even her long strides didn't make up for the pushing power of Writ's new feet. Also, he was just built for agility, whereas Crow's large wings, and cloak, held her back.
Soon enough, the two were well into Downers' ground, and Crow slowed to a loud, clomping stop.
"So where is this kid?" Crow panted out, obviously showing signs of exhaustion. "'Cause I'm tired of runnin'." She knelt down, resting one arm on her knee, and her head on the said arm.

"I dropped him off over at Seasons." Writ said, catching his breath, he put his hands to his knees for a second before standing upright again, "Sooo, if we cut through here, we should catch em'."
Really, Writ had no idea where he was going, he was basicly tracing back to where met Jubs, to how they got back to Middling and... Oh. He really didn't have any idea.
He went back to Crow, "Or we could just wait for him here."

Fish had snuck out of the house that morning, rather than attempt to explain how he had grown a foot over night. He'd come up with something later, of course, like he always did, but for the moment he didn't feel up to it.
He'd wanted to panic, of course, but then he'd remembered the promise he made to Poseidon and resisted. A more logical and more awake Fish had then decided to head for Seasons and talk to Miss Floros. He was a good ways into middling and dead set on getting there, but he passed a pair of teenagers who looked familiar.
He paused and stared in their direction. For all he could tell, it was Crow and Writ, albeit a much older Crow and Writ.
Of course, considering that Fish himself was now physically about sixteen or seventeen years old, that was entirely possible.
"Crow?" he asked tentatively. "Writ? Is that you?"

Unbeknown to Writ or Crow, Jubs had been following them for most of the time they had been in the downers. Since talking to Persy, he had stayed close to the middling border, waiting for other godlings. He wasn't sure what he was going to do, but he figured finding them was the first step. He saw Writ and some girl run right past his hiding spot. He wasn't sure who she was, but he was fairly obvious she was a game player; it looked like she had it as bad as him. He had kept pace with them easily, despite their longer legs. He dashed from rubble to rubble, staying out of sight. He couldn't understand why they looked tired; he wasn't even breathing hard.
"It's not them, it's you." Hermes said to him. "Your powers allow you to do that"
"It's about time my feet were good for something." Jubs shot back.
Someone else was there now too, another player, by his looks. He didn't know the two of them, but they were with Writ, who he felt a small measure of trust towards. He stepped out from behind his hiding spot, pipe in hand. He kicked a rock to let them know he was there.

Crow whirled about on one hoof, and quickly spotted the much older Fish. The blonde hair was unmistakably his, as were the blue eyes. Her jaw opened for a moment, before she clompidy-clomped her way over to him.
"You too?!" She exclaimed, "Fish I..."
Then the rock bounced against the pavement behind her. Her ears caught it quite well--she may not have as good as hearing as Writ did, but she was close to it.
She suddenly turned around, and cocked her head. "Hello," she simply said, an air of curiosity in her voice. She was quick to notice the feathers and his...paws? Yes, those were paws. "You're the new player...?"

"Eh?" Writ heard his name.
He turned to a kid, who looked all familiar yet... Wait, those were gills! Huh, who did he know with gills?
Well DUH.
"Holy... Crap, Fish?!"
Welcome to the club. Writ thought to himself sarcastically, Three of us now.
There was also the sound of a rock making it's way over here. It was Jubs probably. Why couldn't the kid just come out and say hello?

"Poseidon told me not to panic," shrugged Fish, his question answered. Hearing the rock, he glanced towards its source and spotted Crow with the feathered boy. Fish knew he had been about that age rather recently, but certainly not that small...
"Is it just me or are they making newbies smaller and smaller lately?" he murmured to Writ and then went over to see what the boy needed.
"Hi! I'm Fish. You're new?"

Jubs eyed Crow and Fish warily. Everyone else was just so much bigger than him. How was he supposed to fight people if they had a good two feet on him? He wasn't too worried though; he was sure he could outrun them.
"I'm Jubs" Was the only answer he gave. He wasn't sure if he could trust them.
"How come you guys are so much older than me? Did they have me join early?"

Crow stood up, her hands placed on her hips as she gave a small grunt. It sounded much like a funny grunt a wolf would make.
"No... But I was taller than you, anyway." Crow noted, walking around him, as if sizing him up. He was unusually short, and she was quite sure most players started around age ten...yet he wasn't much taller than her five year old brother. "You'll figure out soon enough, Jubs," she finally added.
Now that was an odd name. 'Jubs', didn't roll off the tongue so easily, and seemingly it caused her to think of a strange fuzzy creature with large feet and eyes. She shook her head, removing the odd thought from her conciousness.
"How old are you, anyway, seven? Eight?"

Writ smiled at Fish's comment. Poor Jubs, the kid must've been feeling like a dwarf among giants. Not like he could relate anymore, he towered above everyone nowadays. Now that he thought about it, he was taller than the newly grown Fish too.
He went over to the little crowd forming around the newbie, poking his head between Crow and Fish.
"Hey Jubs, uh, yeah, they're part of the game too. Yep."
Well, that was one way to get in a conversation.

"Early? No," answered Fish, shaking his head. "You're right on time. Hardly late." He kept the answer deliberately confusing. If no one had warned him, he figured he wasn't going to warn Jubs.
But maybe he could get some free information out of him.
"So, paws and feathers?" he asked. "Who do you work for to get that sort of thing?

He crossed his arms and glared up at Crow. Why would no one give him a straight answer? "I don't know how old I am." He replied.
He looked at Writ. "I figured that. They're both freaks like me."
He decided he didn't like Fish. That was what Writ had called him anyway. The others told him he would find out, but Fish gave some weird answer. Well, two could play at that game. "A God. And I don't work for anyone."

She glanced over at Fish, and raised an eyebrow. "He's more backwards with his words lately," she said at Fish, although she was actually speaking to Jubs. She then turned back to Jubs, closed her eyes half way, and smirked.
"If you're in the game, I think you have to be about ten at the youn'est." She glanced away for a moment. "Well at least I haven' seen anyone younger."
She picked up her left leg, popping something in her leg and keeping there for a moment before she continued. "So, you know who your god is?"

Writ turned his head to Crow, "I told you that he said that, before I mean."
Right now, he was the only one that knew Jubs' god. There was that childish notion going through his head to go brag about it, but Writ knew better than that. With everyone being all serious, he didn't want to do something as stupid as that.
Personally, he could see himself in that kid, a little shorter, yes, but just as confused about this whole thing as anyone. Everyone was all mysterious, speaking in riddles. Worse part was, these two were ganging up on him. That wasn't fair. So he intervened.
"Uh, you guys, maybe we should start moving? I don't want to get chased by another Blacksuit again. Walk and talk, kay?"
Writ began to walk, if anything, it'd keep Fish and Crow farther away.

Fish shrugged in Jubs's general direction. "Fair enough," he said. Glancing over at Crow, he added, "I think everyone's about ten. Though Ciro has to be about thirteen, now that I think about it."
He paused, realizing he had just let something slip. If that sentence were to be broken down logically, he had just confirmed that, even if physically and mentally they were teens, he and Crow and Writ were chronologically ten years old.
Hearing Writ's warning about the Blacksuit, he had to agree with the 'keep moving' logic and began to walk a few paces behind him. Then he looked back at Jubs.
"I guess it won't hurt me to tell you about Blacksuits. First thing you need to know is that if you ever see one, you try to act as normal as possible and walk in the other direction. At least, you do at your size. I'm not sure how big and strong someone would need to be to take one on. You listening? Should I keep going?"
