I'm not sure how many of us here have ever read the best of the realms books. But if you have I was just wondering what is your favorite forgotten realms short story and why did you enjoy it?
Personally I have only read best of the realms book one, but my favorite short story is the greatest hero who ever died.
It's a very well written short story by J. Robert King and the reason i like it so much is the same reason I enjoy reading about the drow. Because things are not always as they appear and this story shows that every thing is a matter of perspective. Honestly it's a really messed up gory story but I like it a lot and the ending fits perfectly. So yea I would love to hear from you guys on this.

I haven't read any of those sorry, I'll have to look it up. Which author do you suggest (other than the one you listed I'm looking that up already)?

So there's a book titled "Best of the Realms?"
And it's an anthology of short stories?
(Sorry, I'm just trying to clarify what you were saying... I can't tell where the titles are if they're not capitalized.)
So, are the stories, like, not about drow?
Because, if so, then I would seriously want to check this out.

I know of at least one book of short stories out there...
one short story I've wanted to read for a while is about about Artemis Entreri and how he (accidentally) extended his life by using his dagger on a shade <.<;

Yes thats about the gist of it, volumes one and two I have vloume one. And to kitten there is another very good one called Dark sword by Troy denning. From my understanding the person in the story is a main character in one of his series that meets a very nasty end. And the short story dark sword takes place before the characters series beings some what of an origin type of thing. Another pretty good book of forgotten realms short stories is called best of the realms of elves. My only problem with that book is that all the Elven stories are depressing lol and they are arrogant and racist. But to each his own, don't get me wrong of course humans are only a step up from orcs but it's worth the read all the same.

Im an elf fan so my favorite anthology book is Realms of the Elves The Last Mythal Anthology and my favorite story inside is Necessary Sacrafices by Lisa Smedman followed by Comrades at Odds by R.A. Salvatore.
