I'm here to post a brief summary of the many diverse medical purposes of marijuana. I do not wish to engage in a conversation about the ethics, or the legality of marijuana. So, without further adieu...
It can:
-Prevent nausea associated with chemotherapy
-Prevents blindness caused by glaucoma
-Serve as an appetite stimulant for AIDS patients
-Act as an anti-epileptic
-Ward off asthma attacks and migraine headaches
-Alleviate chronic pain
-Reduce the muscle spasticity that accompanies multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, and paraplegia.
Taken from "Marihuana, the Forbidden Medicine" a book by Dr. Lester Grinspoon, a professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.
Note: I think it's fair to note however that many doctors in the field of psychiatry are against using marijuana because it contains over 400 chemicals, and is therefore too crude to be used in modern pharmacopoeia. This is because they believe the advantage of synthetic drugs is that you can obtain a precise dosage, and also ensure purity.

Discuss (: If you ask me, I'd say that psychiatrists are against using marijuana because if they don't prescribe brain medicine, they don't their perks from the pharmaceutical companies. But then again, I'm jaded like that. stare

My opinion is that you should use Marajuana like Morphine. For Hospice patients and those that just need pain relief.
I'd like some info on that glaucoma/blindness thing. It sounds sketchy, IMO.
I personally have an amphetamine as my ADD drug, so... urm, yeah.

Unless I have it backwards glaucoma has to do with preasure in the eye. Marijuana aleviates eye preasure. To normal eyes it may even dehydrate them, this is why users will be "red-eyed" after using marijuana.
It's actually been a pretty consistant, and to my knowledge, the medical use it was most noted for. It actually reduces the preasure and therefore slows down the process of eye damage.

There's a woman called Maria Sabina, she's indigenist (mexican) and had a very interest story, there's a book about her and everything..
But the thing is that she can cure people with marijuana teas and mushrooms, she had removed cancer and other sickness, it's like she found the way to make miracles with plants... specially with mushrooms.
Well.. just a curious data sweatdrop

My dad has horrible back pain due to arthritus and smokes Marajuana so it can help him deal with the pain. He was on drugs like Oxycotton, Vallium. Morphine ect. They just made him into a zombie and he couldn't drive or even go to the movies because those medicines made him kinda loopy. So I introduced him to Marajuana and he even got the approval of his doctor so he can have medical Marajuana.
