Kai has always been confident that he would one day be a great trainer. A week before he was to recieve his first pokemon, he found out his older brother (who was a very tallented trainer) had been attacked by a wild pokemon and was put in a Coma. This accident made Kai have second thoughts about being a trainer, and even made him a little afraid. After much thought he decided to go through with it. He wanted to be the best, for his brother.
