So I'm reading the Resident evil series by S.D. Perry
And I must say I'm quite impressed.
She captures the the fear and twistedness of each game and character
We've all wondered what went on in the characters minds as they survived the horror,these tell us the thoughts
She even wrote two of her own stories(Calibian Cove and Underworld) using the RE characters
So far my favorite it Resident Evil 2

Can't say I have read anything based on a videogame.
I know Halo has a bunch of books...

Well, Halo fall of reach was a piece of crap. Was completely up its own a** with fake military terms/crap, the action was stupid, and the descriptions of masterchief and the spartans' bodies and what not were clearly written as softcore gay porn (not that there's anything wrong with that....)

However, some of the game tie ins made it bareable.
