I have been collecting anime fansubs for years and thats where i first saw ranma many years ago. I have only watched the series in japanese with english subtitles. I recently ordered the whole series movies and ovas on dvd and was wondering if its worth watching them in english. I plan on watching as many as possible in a marathon style viewing and do not want to switch languages in between episodes. Personally I tend not to like many english dubs but there have been a few that I liked. The newer ones tend to be much better than the old ones. I know in japanese the same voices that where used in ranma were also used in inuyasha. I do not like the voices used in the english version of inuyasha but like the original japanese. Any help at all is appreciated.

Watch it in Subs. I don't like the english voices. Ranma sounds like a 12 year old boy that is trying to have a deep voice. Everyone else's voice is just annoying. Japanese is great though.

I don't like a lot of English voices. They seem to put no effort at all into their acting. I like it in Japanese with subs.
Sadly, the Ranma and InuYasha voices in English are horrible to me. gonk

Really I think its really good. Inuyasha,Ranma,Samorai X, Fma, yuyuhakusho and fmp are like only ones dubbed in english that I like.
Everything else I prefer subbed. Japanese people make anime more interesting and funnier. Like Death Note for example I heard the subbed version and man is it horribble to death while in Japanese its sooo coool.

like most anime series, Ranma is better in japanese. you should try watching the english ones, they're good. the only bad thing is when they switch voice actors, they make the characters sound more whiney, i guess.

Yeah they did. I agree they shouldnt have switch it. But can you believe the Voice actor of Ranma during the first season was a girl and I dont mean the girl side of Ranma I mean the man side of Ranma. Now during the more newer seasons Ranma's voice got changed by Richard Cox which also voiced Inuyasha. And the old one was Sarah Strange which I thought was better suited for ranma even though the voice actor was a girl.
I dont know why I know these sorta things @-@.

I guess it would depend on how you like the way the characters sounding. I really like the english version because I'm used to it but the japanese isn't too bad either. Some of their voices are pretty dumb in english (Shampoo) but some match really well with their personalities (Kuno/Ryoga) The thing about English voices though is that there aren't many voice actors out there so they all sound the same. Like Kuno and Moose both have roles in Gundam Wing and I think Inuyasha also. Some anime I have to watch in japanese like Rurouni Kenshin because the english ones suck. especially since they edit it so much. I guess overall the only time I really watch it in english is when I'm lazy and don't wanna read. Other than that I'm a fast reader so japanese doesn't bother me at all. Plus I've been watching it for so long I kinda get what they're saying without even reading!!

The dubbed was alright. I forgot who the female voice actor was for the earlier seasons in English. I like Richard Cox's voice though :]
But yes, I like the Japanese a bit better.
