Deep in the middle of the broken desert, and far from the vampiric city, lies a large, lush oasis. It is here that the humans have found a small bit of solitude and safety from the vampires. Occasionally, foolish Vampire youths will plan raids on this sanctuary, but most are swallowed by the insatiable desert before they arrive. Those few who make it to the oasis have an even slighter chance of returning to the city in safety.
When a woman here births a child infeted, the child is thrown to the wastes. If the child can survive until a rogue vampire finds it, it may be lucky enough to make it to the city to be adopted. If the one who finds it is imoral, however, the child may soon be sold as food to the ravenous creatures of the city.

The soft clip-clop of hooves sounded through the silent air. A horse the color of sand with eyes of gold headed towards one of the many seperate settlements that made up the human population of the oasis. The horse's rider had his eyes focused on nothing. The silver sheen of blindness reflecting the bright midday sun.
Water danced in his hands, occasionally sprinkling down on the horse to keep it cool. His clothes were ragged, but clean, unusual for one who travels around the area.
"Apollo, I think we should camp outside the settlement. It's too hot for any of the locals to be in a good mood." Spoke the rider, shaping the water into a ball that was almost the size of the horse's head. He felt around the edges of the water, "And I daresay that we have enough water to last us until tomorrow morning."
The horse, Apollo tossed his head in response, looking for a place that was flat enough and safe enough to set up camp. Once he had selected a proper grassy clearing he cantered to it, stopping abruptly to let his rider know that it was safe to get off. The male, a mere boy, hugged Apollo around the neck and slid off of the horse's back, leaving the ball of water hovering in midair.
He felt around the packs tied to Apollo's back, finding a sleeping roll and a metal pan for food. He then touched Apollo's head and smiled.
Apollo's eyes glimmered for a second and then the boy moved about as though he could see, although he always stayed out of his beloved horse's sight. He set up a place for fire and his sleeping roll quickly and efficiently, trying to keep the amount of time he used his familiar's eyes minimal to lessen the strain of the action.

Both Apollo and the boy noticed her at the same time, alerted by the dripping of water. The boy saw through his familliar's eyes that she was not someone to take lightly.
Apollo tensed and pawed the ground, making as much noise as he could to try and scare away any threat to his boy. The boy moved over to the large horse and stroked his neck, before turning and smiling at the stranger in hopes of avoiding dangerous confrontation.

She started to circle the horse and the boy, looking hungrily towards the animal.

The boy waved his hand and fire flared up, encircling him and Apollo. He pulled out some throwing needles and got on Apollo's back, ready to fight if need be, all the while keeping the fire under control.

She hissed at this. She was frighten back, and then ran towards the camp she had come down the river from. She screeched at the top of her own lung strength about the magical vampyr that had come to destroy them all and eat them as the evening meal and possibly the midnight one aswell.

The boy waved the fire away. He blinked his blind eyes once and Apollo did so at the same time, so once again the boy was unable to see.
He held tightly to his horse's neck, hugging his companion in fear. He knew these humans were not cannibals, they wouldn't eat him, but they would certainly try to kill Apollo.

the camp closed its gates and blocked them sealing themselves inside. They sent a smoke message up that there was a vampyr in the area and the other camps in the area did the same some seting up their small armies at post to protect themselves.

The boy smelled the smoke signals, knowing that they would have to leave the area soon. If there was that much smoke in the air it meant that all places he could have restocked in or stayed at were closed to him.
He asked Apollo to get some rest and he set up a series of alert strands of puppet wire around his camp before settling down to make some food.

The camps closed up and staied as such, having no intention to go out forth and try to destroy the vampyr. In fear. though one creature did venture out of the camp..one who would kill and eat a human.

Apollo was relaxed, having fed off of some of the grass that hadn't been burned by his beloved human, he was almost asleep. His ears picked up a slight noise that even his human hadn't heard. He lifted his head and looked around.

It triggered one of the puppet wires and tripped as it was approaching, it made a noise which was a shout in its own language. Its arrows clatterd as he did so.

The boy looked up from his meal of roasted rabbit.
"Hello?" he questioned, worried about any opponent that he couldn't hear. Unless he could befriend said person. "If you'd like you can have some of my rabbit." He offered.
Apollo watched the being curiously, not sure if it was dangerous or not.

He picked himself up, and drew a small blade, one of many any of his kind would carry with them at all times, walking towards the fire slowly. He noticed the lack of vampyrism in the boy and seemed to agree to eat with the boy by sitting down across from him.
