We all know the 6th book is coming out tonight/today/depends on what time zone you're in and whenyou read this post and it seems only natural that we have a guild thread to discuss it and our views on it.

If you want to post spoilers, please post them in white text so other members can choose if they want to read them or not, thank you.

Also, feel free to discuss the overall series, previous books, or even the movies if you so wish.

And sweety, I found something saved in my image files that I think you might enjoy seeing:

I'm sure your local library would carry the books. (If you're too busy to read I'd suggest the books on tape. They're fun to listen to.)

You post that as if I don't still have it saved in my photobucket album, smart one. wink Well lesssee. I got my book at 12:10 am and finshed it at 6:57, Eastern Standard Time. I was really happy to see that I had gotten on all the right 'ships (If you don't know what a ship is, you're not much of a Harry Potter Fan), and I correctly predicted who was gonna die (or at least believed my Language Arts teacher wholeheartedly when he told the class), but I was completely off on who the Half-Blood Prince was. I will say in white who I voted for in the Mugglenet Poll. Believe me, when you find out who it is, you will be Stupefied xp .

I thought the Half-Blood Prince was a character we hadn't been introduced yet.

My ships were as follows:

Harry/Ginny
Hermione/Ron (that one was obvious)
Lupin/Tonks
Luna/Neville (which was only really hinted at)

My teacher's death prediction was based on the Hero's Journey Formula. I won't tell you who it is, but I'll give you a hint.

Well known examples of the Hero's Journey Formula are Lord of the Rings and Star Wars, Episodes 4-6 (the ones from the 80's)

I got the book at midnight! It was nice. I stayed around the bookstore and had all sorts of fun. I got a lightning bolt ballon hat! whee

I can't read the book until I finish the one I was reading, though. One of my rules. sweatdrop

I will crack the skull of anyone who posts spoilers. mad I already found out who kills who by accident, damn it.

I like Harry Potter. Okay, so really it's just an excuse to draw Draco Malfoy. But still. I don't like it as much as Artemis Fowl, but I like HP books. For me, it's like this: Arty is 10x smarter than Harry, and his magic friends have super technology as well as magic. So ha.

When the book came out, my old HPfic beta emailed me about it. It was nice, 'cause I haven't talked to her in forever. I'm gonna post what she said about the person who killed the person who died, because her opinions changed my mind a bit. Of course the entire thing is a spoiler, so it will be in white.

I knew that Dumbledore was going to die, I was prepared for that. But Snape...no, I don't believe that he did that on his own accord, and here's why:

1. the Unbreakable Vow
2.I think that Dumbledore made him promise. Dumbledore knew that if he didn't, Malfoy AND Snape would die. I also think that's why they were arguing in the forest.
3. He's my favorite character...I just couldn't stand him to go evil (or go completely to Voldie's side).
4. The hatred that showed on his face was for himself. More on that in number five...
5. His anger after Harry called him a coward didn't fit if he just did because. He had just killed his mentor and possibly a father figure (it must have just killed him to do it), and the one student he completely loathes calls him a coward? I would be furious too.
6. I believe Snape to have felt complete remorse for sending Voldemort after James and Lily. Why? Because I think that Snape fancied Lily. And love/infatuation/whatever can make us do crazy things...like join Dumbledore.

As for Snape being the Half-Blood Prince, after I read it, I kicked myself. OF COURSE he was. Brilliant potions maker? Good at Defense Against the Dark Arts (moreso the Dark Arts rather than Defense). It was a bit of a shock though...

The following contains Book 5 spoilers, as well as a response to Sweety's second spoiler post:

UM, in a thing for number 6: Of course he had a thing for Lily! She was good at potoins like him. He hated James and James liked Lily, plus he would stick up for her when James was all weird and being mean to show he liked her. Then Snape had that 'Oh darn!' look when she laughed in Snapes Pensive.

I don't mean that to sound mean.

Shoot me if you must, but I am one of those horrid people that likes to read the last page of a book when I start to read it. Call it a quirk, but as long as it is only a paragraph or two, it won't ruin the book for me. That made me want to read it.

After reading the spoilers here, I am REALLY wanting to read it!!! heart heart heart

Personally, I like to do the same. Sometimes I'll read the whole page, but I'll usually only read a paragraph or so. I'm gonna go edit Fiery's post so M Lady doesn't get to spastic.

Talon, have you read the rest of the series?

Awesome. I lost my Sorcerer's Stone and Goblet of Fire when we moved, which is really too bad because they were both first edition. Except the first one got Hi-C spilled on it when I was in second grade. I just had to bring it o lunch. . . When are you getting HBP?
