Actually, since I didn't have a Subeta account, I was in no real danger ^.^; But then I don't use the same password on multiple accounts so even still... I'd be in no danger.
No clue what I'm talking about?... Here's the low down...
Subeta is a semi popular website that reminds 'me' of neopets... Anyway, they released a long cat item... Long cat is a known character originating from 4-Chan (Man I hate 4-chan...). 420-Chan (A 4chan ripoff site) has a board set up for people who raid or invade other websites. They saw this and decided to invade Subeta.
This made the owner of the site Subeta angry... So he did a Denial of Service attack on 420-chan, which shuts the site down for a time. This is not legal, by the way >.>; Don't try it at home, kids.
That made the original angry people angrier! So they broke into Subeta's MySQL Database and got the list of users and their passwords. That's bad news for Subeta users... dur...
After a while they figured out that a lot of Subeta users apparently have Gaia Online accounts under the same name... And apparently many of them user the same username/password combination on both sites. Sooo... they released a list of the username and password combos on rapidshare...
I really don't see why Gaia had to be brought into it... but when you're dealing with idiots who have nothing better to do than invade sites all day... I guess it's to be expected.
So... people got the passwords and a hacking they shall go... Hundreds (If not thousands) of accounts were hacked on Gaia recently, because of this.
Now you know what happened... So the moral?... Don't use the same username password combination on different sites!... And don't piss off the jerks who love 4-chan...
