Types of Spaceships

Cruiser - A normal sized ship meant for a crew of around six to ten people.

Fighters - A one to two man ship, lightly armed, quite fast and used to fight. (Carried on Gunships or hidden on freighters)

Freighters - A weaponless carrier ship used to carry anything from people to cargo.

Gunships - An army sized ship armed to the max with everything from cannons and missles to cruisers and fleets of fighters.

Recon - A one man or unmanned, unarmed ship used for scouting.

A Ship's Crew

Captain - The head and owner of the ship. They make sure that the crew is sustained and doing their jobs correctly and effieciently. They also have the final say in where the ship is headed and whether to fight or flee when attacked.

Communications - The person who sends and recieves messages about locations before entering them (usually cities) and tracks down signals and soundwaves. Usually the first to know when another ship is friendly or not.

Mechanic - The person who fixes any mechanical problems. An essential part of a crew if for no other reason, then for the fact that everything breaks down eventually. Without a mechanic aboard, it could get pretty expensive to get it repaired at a hangar.

Navigator - The person who makes sure that the ship is its set course and stays that way. If knocked off of course or lost, a navigator would be needed to know the enviroment like the back of their hand and to be able to get you back to somewhere recognizable.

Pilot - The person who steers the ship, usually the Captain.

Weapons Expert - The person in charge of keeping ammunition for the ship's guns steady, keeping the guns functional (cleaning, routine maintence, etc.) Without this member, you could be in a real jam in case of attack.

A Ship's Parts

Booster - The giant engines in the back of the ship that project the ship forward. There are usually only up to four and get bigger with the size of the ship.

Cannons - The guns that slide out of the ship's body and either are controlled to or automatically shoot at appointed targets.
