(( notes: for 1, the title makes me laugh XD. thinking of Simon's character of a mechanic/techy mouse and like, shock in electricity. *shot'd for lame joke* and 2, shock as in emotional shock XD.
For Kotat et Moi XD))
Simon sat in the garden of the park in the center of the flower patch where it was an empty place. His black hair atop his head was warm from the beating sun rays. He pushed his glasses back up and wiped a bit of mouse sweat on his sleeve. he put down his miniature screwdriver down on the ground as he clicked the start-up button.
'You have 1 minute before start up.' said the built in pre-set voice box.
and he closed the 3rd and final bird's stomach cavity and placed the screws in place. he picked up his screwdriver again as he screwed it on tight.
'preparing to start up... 5...4...3...2...1... start up is complete.' said the pre-set voice box. The other two birds had watched as their sibling had risen from a pile of useless junk before Simon had finished.
"i think i'll name you... Kindness. now Kindness, meet your two siblings." Simon said as he took the bird and placed him in front of the two confused bird siblings. "Love," Simon said as he pointed to a bird. "and Faith." He said happily. As the birds' Learning unit started to work, they quickly learned that they were their siblings and they got along well. they also knew that Simon would re-install them if they fought.

Sophie rounded the corner, talking to something in her hands. "Now remember, we're on a quest. Baron said that if you go on a quest you need a few things and I think that he didn't see us steal them from him, so we should be okay. But you have to have the right attitude too, or I can't help you. You can't be so... depressed all the time! Smile, come on!" On Sophie's arm was a cane and on her head was a top hat, the items she stole from Baron. The tophat was too big and she was too intent on her conversation, which was why when she bumped into Simon it was literal rather than a figure of speech. "Oof!"

The robotic birds stopped as the stole a spot on top of Simon's head before the crash. they saw the approaching female mouse ut decided not to warm their master of this. with this collision, Simon fell onto his front as the birds jumped off, avoiding the squishing of their metal bodies. they chirped as they looked at the girl who made their master. "i'm sorry," he said softly after sitting back up. "there, there birdies, no need to get upset." he said as he nuzzled them on the heads. They cooed at the touch.

Sophie gasped. "Sorry! Sorry!" Bright red with embarrassment, she was about to move off when she saw the birds. "Ah!" she said, then thought of the best thing to do. She hated being so shy. But she had to ask, didn't she? "A-are those your birds?" she said hesitantly. "They're so small!" Remembering something, she said "Small! Oh no!" Looking in her hands, she found them empty and gave a wail. "Where is he?" Something landing on her shoulder caught her eye and she saw it was an unusually small monarch butterfly. "Oh, thank heavens."

"yea, they are birds." he said to the girl with a smile. "bythe way, i'm Simon, and who might you be? is that a butterfly? how is he so small?" He asked her as he pushed it glasses back up. The three birds took refugee on top of Simon's head again looking at the girl, scanning her presence and put it in their database that they were no harm to them at all at this moment. "how is that possible?" he said softly to himself. He knew his birds were mechanical and that could be done with simple wiring and programming but this was a work of nature! such a small monarch when normal ones were so large.

Sophie looked confused. How could he wonder how Edgar was possible when his birds were so small? "He was born that way." she explained, running along with it. "Don't look at him too much though, you'll make him upset." She pressed up close to Simon's ear and stretched the hand whihc the butterfly had settled on as far away as she possibly could and whispered "He has self-esteem issues." Changing back to a more comfrortable position, she said "So I'm on a quest to find him another butterfly as small as him so he won't feel so odd and..." she paused, coughing embarrassedly. "If it's not too much to ask... I was wondering where your birds came from." She nodded, encouraged. "Because that place would definitely have small butterflies too, right?" Remembering her manners, she added "I'm Sophie. And this is Edgar." She held out the butterfly.

"well, i made these three myself. it was a pure accident when i made the first one, Love" he said pointing to Love. He looked exactly like the other birds but yes, he was Love. "then i tried to make a second one to keep Love company. That came Faith. who was the first bird to have the learning program installed. then Love got it in him and today came Kindness." he said, ranting on about his birds. He could tell them apart even though they looked exactly alike. "they technically have no 'birthplace'. they technically aren't even alive, but they get treated as if they are alive and real." he said happily before taking Love down to show her. "see, all mechanical." the bird looked around as he nodded as a greeting to the female. Love opened his mouth before a mechanical voice said, "hello. i am number oo1."

A warm smile crept onto Sophie's face as Love greeted her. "That's amazing! I've never seen anything like them in my life!" Remembering, she said "Besides real birds, of course. How on Earth did you make them?" Preoccupied with Simon's inventions, she didn't remember what she had come for until a fluttering thing perched on her ear. Then the smile fell from her face as it struck her that this meant she had come to a dead end. "But now I don't know where I can find a little butterfly." She had looked evereywhere in the house and in Baron's garden and even in Alistair's closet. (Not a place for the faint of heart.) And she had chanced to bump into Simon, and better yet, felt comfortable around him and his birds. But now she'd have to look some more and that meant finding, and maybe talking to more strangers. Deciding to procrastinate, she sat down next to Simon. "But I'll look later..." she said guiltily.

Simon waved to little Edgar. "can i come with you on your journey?" He asked Sophie. "that way you can look and i can still rant about these three." he said as he placed Love back on his head with the other two. Love snuggled right into the center with the two at his side. he began his talk of no return. "well, they're basically just like Chii in the popular manga, Chobits. They have a learning capibility to teach them to fly, clean themselves and remember people they've met, names of people and their way home." he sai as he stood up with a smile.

Edgar fluttered his wings at Simon and Sophie looked at the butterfly fondly. "Oh, would you? If ti's not too much to ask..." She said, blushing. "I'm not very good at talking to strangers, so I thought this quest would never be done! But if you helped me it would probably be easier." She grinned at him. "So... Thank you!" Listening about his birds in fascination, she was only confused when he mentioned Chobits. "Manga?" she asked, trying out the unfamiliar word. "That's..." She remembered seeing it once or twice, but she had no idea what it meant. "It's on advertising posters a lot." she said uncertainly.

Simon thought for a while after to try to put a pinpoint on what was Manga. "well... Manga is like comic books and Chobits is... this series about a guy who finds a persocom which is like a humanoid computer." he said. "and well, Chii is this 'chobit' and she was unique in her own way." he added. "so, which way do we search?" he asked her looking around.

Sophie nodded. "Comic books? Like Spidermouse and stuff?" she said. "I have a lot of those." she admitted. "I'd like to read some manga!" Thinking about his next question, she said "Baron said to follow my heart."

"well, not like spider man. a different type of art and plot style. most manga might be action or a drama or dramatic comdedy." he said "where shall that be? what does your heart say?" he said softly, not to accidentily muffle or tune out the heart's voice. the birds watched atop Simon's head bieng good little birds while they start out on their journey for a butterfly like Edgar~.

Sophie closed her eyes, whispering too. "It says..." She strained her ears. "It... says..." Opening her eyes, she looked frustrated. "Oh, I can't even hear it. I should have known that listening to your heart is stupid." She looked at Edgar. "I have to try though. Simon, could you try too, please?" she pleaded. "Maybe you can hear something in your heart."

Simon held Sohpies paws in front of her as he stood in front her. He closed his eyes as he dipped his head lower. "let's listen together." he said softly to the female mouse. the three sat softly as they closed their beady eyes slong with Simon
