as far as i know, the left behind series is a bad portrayal of the Christian faith. Its messages of intolerance and such, i dont think its what we should be giving off. Can anyone assess the validity of the Left Behind Series?

I read twenty pages and decided it was drivel written by someone better suited to be a street-cleaner. The series' morals are the least of its problems.

I wont watch that movie, or read the books if there is one. I've read about it, and I dont really like the way it portrays God and Christianity either.

My mom loves the series, I myself havn't read it, but she keeps telling me that it's really good. But the series should not be taken seriously. It's just a fictional series on the rapture theory during the end times.

I've read about half of the "Kids" Left Behind series (mostly because those were the only ones my church library had but I was planning to read the other series anyways) and I did really like it. I only got half way through because then I got hooked on Ted Dekker, a great Christian thriller writer. I personally liked them and liked the movies too. In the beginning, yeah, the first like 20 pages or so, it portrays the main characters in a way that doesn't fit a Christian profile which is because the characters aren't Christians and are left behind. From what I read, the series is great and has plenty of accurate references to God and the end times.

@oridaius then you probably haven't read the real Left Behind Series (as in not the kids version)... the wrongs with the version supercede the fact that some non-Christians are left behind; its anti-semetic and anti-muslim views as well as anti-catholic views are not to be tolerated nor accepted

Quote: so being fictional excuses the fact that it is disgustingly intolerant towards other relgions/denominations, among other things? The bible does say not to follow other religions that does not teach him as the one true god and Jesus as the savior of the world. Even though it's true that being tolerant to other religions is a good way of avoiding war, I doubt God will look at someone and says, "Hey you followed a religion other than mine, but that's ok come on into heaven." Also does God ever tolerate another religion. Let's see, Baal followers weren't spared from his wrath, neither was Egyptions, hell he even punished his own people for worshipping a golden calf. The denomination part I will concede as I don't see any denomination being completly right, but hell your going to find things like that all your life.

So you are saying that Jews and Muslims are going to hell then? If you want to use Bible references, if I understand correctly, weren't the Jews God's chosen people? And, the Left Behind Story doesnt event stop there; when it begins to hint at anti-Catholicism, it has gone too far. And do not say that Catholics are not Christians.

Kuroi Kokoro no Mendori I read twenty pages and decided it was drivel written by someone better suited to be a street-cleaner. The series' morals are the least of its problems. never judge a book by the first 20 pages. at least read a little bit into them! If you seriously only got that far the reason you think the morals are low is because you are follow the lives of those who are not yet saved. It isn't untill a bit later on that they discover how wrong their life was and such. I really like the series. they stay very true to the bible's prophecys. I even know someone who these books actually aided in leading him to christ

I read most of the kid series and loved it. Left Behind made me dive into revelations.. it is now one of my favorite books. I never had the impression of intolerance for other religons, or that catholics are not christian. Maybe that's the adult version, but I doubt they would intend to come across as intolerant. There is not enough christian-based fiction out there, I am happy just to have the books :3

I read the entire adult series, I liked them. There are some parts I don't agree with, but overall they were good.
And God won't let anyone into Heaven who worships another god other than YHWH, Jehovah, Jesus, Adonai, etc. It has to be the true God, it can't be Allah, it can't be The Lord and The Lady, it can't be any of that. "You are to worship Me and Me alone, for I am a jealous God, in fact, my name is Jealous."
That's a verse.
