Probually one of the most powerful and most influencal people in Faerun
I'm surprised he's talked bout so little, he's practicably the spokesperson for the Forgotten Realms sweatdrop
so, any one else read one of the many books he's in?
I think he's great to read about, because despite getting more and more powerful he still keeps a very laid back aditude

I... have never read any of the Elminster books.

My interest is averted from the series because he is old.
Isn't that weird?
It's not my fault that I can only stand to read about youthful, dashing heroes!

don't feel to bad, Elminster seems to be really unapreaseated these days confused
three out of the five books about him he's still young acually (dispite for whatever reason they have a picture of him with a beard on the cover of the books gonk )
serously though, he's one of the coolest charicters in the Realms, the first book is all about his life before he became a wizard
which involved being a bandit, a burgaler, then a prestess (yes, prestess, his god turned him into a girl during this time for the sack of giving him a disguse and she thought it would be entertaining lol )

Taya Sethchamar Who is Elminister? Was he a young shepered that watched his family and town get destroyed by a dragon and mage? Was he a young man who was turned into a woman my lady Mistra? What is he now? We all know that he's a mage, but what don't we know? Tell me what you about him and his Lady, Mistra.
this would be the place to ask that sweatdrop (Though I admit your title was etter then mine...)
anyways, are you even asking a question or are you just trying to prompt people to talk about him? confused

Elminster's Making of a Mage was my first book when i was 6 and i still own the original hardback print. I think i know a part of the answer to Rogue's question is Greenwood didn't want Elminster to be in every aspect of the realm though powerful he is only of of many people. and because of market TSR err should i say WotC demands more Elminster where he wanted to write more on other characters he's made. But still i am amzaed at his story a boy born hating mages and killing them for vengence becomes one of most -next to Halaster and Telamont and Larloch- powerful mages in the realms

He's mentioned a couple times in Neverwinter Nights,
and other games, too, I'm sure.
So he's not completely unknown.
He's just stuck in Drizzt's shadow.

I love Elminster becaue he not only is an awesome wizard and took care of Mystra's children but also because Elminster making of a mage was the firt forgotten realms book i read and it will always be special
