That book really made me wonder what I would be like if my personalities got switched.. along with the rest of the Animorphs xD

Hm...that would be an interesting idea...possibly a good rp topic, but a better fan fic.

Oh, and I liked Rachel, though she was just a bit of a Mary-Sue.

Really? What made her a Mary Sue?
PostPosted: Thu Aug 16, 2007 3:01 am

She was perfect. To quote Marco "Beauty and Brains". Basically, she ended up playing a part of a tragic Mary-Sue. She was smart. She was beautiful, no matter what. Everyone (that being Marco and Tobias) was in love with her. She died. Tobias went into a spiral of depression that lasted for years to come.
That's what made her Mary-Sueish in my mind.
Not that that stopped me from liking her. It's just she is.

A Mary-Sue.. never really thought of her that way, but I see what you're talking about. o_O Was Marco really in love with her? I sort of got that impression at first, but it gradually disappeared.

I think he had a serious cursh at the beginning of the book series. I think it kinda died down, but he still flirted at her because it was like their "thing" by then.

Rachel's awsome. ^_^. Yes, she might have some Mary-Sue traits, but not enough to make her annoying. And I mean hey, she's still as hideous as everyone else when she morphs.

This is true. But, then again, I think everyone has their Mary-Suish traits. Even real people. I can think of two right off the top of my head.

I'm actually re-reading the David arc right now, and just got past the fork-in-ear, threatening-his-family bit. I think that that completely steered her away from the Mary-Sue classification, at least in my eyes.

Oh geez.. I need to reread the David arc, but I don't have access to them anymore XO. Shame.

I loved the way Rachel transformed personally. She was the person who changed the most, with the possible exception of Tobias. Her character development was believable, too. The only thing that bothered me a little bit was that near the end, through the eyes of the other Animorphs, she seemed a lot worse than when we actually read through her eyes. Her actions and what she said were more mellow when we read from her point of view. A possiblity for this might be because she reconciles with her mother before we finally get to read in her point of view again.. o_O

*Cough*yes*Cough*
Haven't watched Xena in ages, but from what I remember, I think she was a bit Mary-Suish too...Could just be my imagination, though. Like I said, haven't seen it in ages.
