I was just thinking that we need a place to discuss things that we've noticed in the books that could be of importance in the Deathly Hollows.
(If anyone can come up with a better thread title, please tell me.) ^_^'

Alright...I was reading CoS and it mentions in "The Burrow" that Fred and George learn Muggle tactics for opening locks. And I was thinking about the Dept. of Mysteries and how they were unable to open that one door with magic...so whatever is in there has to be really important or really dangerous, you know? So what if in DH Fred and George help them open up the door? Dun-dun-duuuun!!!
(or was it opened and I just don't remember... confused )

I actually have quite a bit of things now that I think about it...*gets out books* ...well...I really only read PoA thoroughly(sp?) so far... ^.^"
Okay...on pg. 107 American Edition of PoA, Professor Trelawney sees the Grim in Harry's teacup. Now we all know that she's just a bit phoney and what-not, but Ron DID mention that it looked like an animal. So perhaps she really was making a good prediction and Voldemort does end up killing Harry. ^.^"
Pg. 207 American PoA - Hagrid says, "once a wizard goes to the Dark Side, no one matters to 'em anymore." So what this is saying is that all those former Death Eaters just may go back to Voldemort afterall. (Kakurof (sp?) and what-not...) And since Sirius says in GoF "no one stops being a Death Eater," I know that Hagrid wasn't just saying this out of frustration about Sirius. ^.^"
Pg. 407 (you know...this makes me wonder why there isn't anything on pg. 307...) American PoA - Harry is wondering if his father by any chance faked his own death. This could be important...maybe.
Pg. 427 (okay now, what's with all these 7's?) American PoA - Some wise words of Dumbledore! "Pettigrew owes his life to [Harry]." "This magic is at it's deepest, its most impenetrable, Harry. But trust me...the time may come when you will be very glad you saved Pettigrew's life." "You think the dead we loved ever truly leave us?"
Mmmm...that's all for now. ^.^

Well...I just read that Ron also knows how to unlock things the Muggle way...so Fred and George don't necessarily have to be important in that way... *shrug*

So perhaps she really was making a good prediction and Voldemort does end up killing Harry. ^.^" Good idea...but I really hope not. gonk Perhaps she was just seeing it because there's a big black dog in Harry's future? sweatdrop mokubahv Pg. 207 American PoA - Hagrid says, "once a wizard goes to the Dark Side, no one matters to 'em anymore." So what this is saying is that all those former Death Eaters just may go back to Voldemort afterall. (Kakurof (sp?) and what-not...) Wasn't he mentioned in the 5th book? *reads*
And didn't they already? He counted in GoF which ones were and weren't there. Which still gets me to wondering...mokubahv Pg. 407 (you know...this makes me wonder why there isn't anything on pg. 307...) The following pertains to the American Edition of The Sorcerer's Stone, hardback copy. Forgive me, I make LOTS of notes and have lots of questions and stupid little things to point out. sweatdrop So I warn you, some of this may be totally pointless. xd
Page 12: Godric's Hollow is mentioned as the place James and Lily Potter lived at when killed. In the Half Blood Prince, this is mentioned, and this is the only time it is if I recall. After reading book six, this confused me, until I reread book one. I have a feeling Godric's Hollow will be important in Deathly Hollows (and partially because Hollow is in the title ^_^).
Page 53: Pentunia's shouting about Lily being a witch. Frog Spawn is mentioned. What the hell is Frog Spawn???
Page 55: Here Hagrid mentions that Harry's parents were Head Boy and Girl of their houses. First off, wasn't James too much a troublemaker to be Head Boy? Doesn't that seem like Lupin's type of thing? Also, were Harry's parents both in Gryffindor? Or was Lily in another house (the only other I could think of is Ravenclaw...since she doesn't seem like a Hufflepuff or a Slytherin)?
Page 63/64: It mentions here that Hagrid flew to the little island shack they were staying at. My question was...how? I mean I know there are ways...but how would Hagrid fly, and get away with it? The only things I can think of (since no flying motorcycle of Sirius Black's was involved) is either broomstick or thestrel, and both seem rather flimsy for Hagrid's build.
Page 65: Hagrid mentions that Dumbledore gets owls every day from Fudge, asking for advice. Ah...so at first Fudge is willing to get advice and help from Dumbledore...I just thought that it was kinda hypocritical how in the fifth book he refuses to have anything to do with Dumbledore, when Dumbledore's probably the one who helped him get through everything else (and it makes me hate Fudge even more).
Page 99: Ron mentions his mom has a second cousin who's an accountant...I thought this was curious (in a funny way). Would this make that person a Squib? Or just a wizard with a muggle job?
Page 109: Okay, here is where Malfoy first encounters Harry and Ron on the train together, and Goyle tried to steal Ron's chocolate frog...and then Scabbers bit him. Here's my question: Since Scabbers is in fact Wormtail, does he know that Goyle's the son of a Death Eater too scared to return to their master and is vengeful, or is he just defending Ron like a loyal pet would? It just made me think...
Page 170: This is about Harry's Quidditch Career...Wood mentions that Harry could be better than Charlie Weasley, and Charlie could've played for England if he hadn't gone of chasing dragons...so it makes me wonder, will Harry pursue his Quidditch playing skills to play for England after Hogwarts (that is, if he survives, and if you can do that and be an Auror at the same time)?
Page 207: "Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi." Read that backwards. ^_^ Mokey and I figured that one out.
Page 214: Harry asks Dumbledore what he can see in the Mirror of Erised. Dumbledore responds: "I see myself holding a pair of thick, woolen socks." Do you think he's lying, or is this another of Dumbledore's wacky antics?
Page 221: It says: "Could Snape possibly know they'd found out about the Sorcerer's Stone? Harry didn't see how he could --- yet he sometimes had the horrible feeling that Snape could read minds." Little does poor Harry know, that every time he stares straight into Snape's eyes while lying, Snape does in fact know he's not telling the truth. sweatdrop
Page 226: When Snape confronts Quirrell in the forest about "not wanting him as his enemy"...do you think he's trying to convince Quirrell that he's still loyal to Voldemort?
Page 259: Firenze is talking to Harry in the forest, and says: "Good luck, Harry Potter. The planets have been read wrongly before now, even by centaurs. I hope this is one of those times." Is he perhaps foretelling of the fight with Voldemort that may in fact kill Harry in Deathly Hollows?
Page 274: Peeves is naturally pestering someone, but he mentioned ghouls and ghosts. What are the difference between the two?
Page 278: Y'know, throughout the first book, Harry keeps wondering what exactly lurks in Gringotts' vaults as security, and keeps thinking it's dragons. Do you think that maybe in Deathly Hollows, they'll somehow have to go into the underground depths of Gringotts? I just wonder, because you know how JK is with hiding stuff like that. sweatdrop
Page 298: Dumbledore and Harry are talking in the hospital wing. Dumbledore says: "The truth. It is a beautiful and terrible thing, and should therefore be treated with great caution. However, I shall answer your questions unless I have a very good reason not to, in which case I beg you'll forgive me. I shall not, of course, lie." HERE is where Dumbledore was considering telling Harry of the prophecy but changed his mind because Harry was too young and he knew it would be too much for him to take in. 3nodding Dumbledore mentions this in the Order of the Phoenix. He continues, "Alas, the first thing you ask me, I cannot tell you. Not today. Not now. You will know, one day...put it from your mind for now, Harry. When you are older...I know you hate to hear this...when you are ready, you will know."
So, that's TSS...*will get more later* xd

I have a feeling Godric's Hollow will be important in Deathly Hollows (and partially because Hollow is in the title ^_^). Good point. ^_^ Taylor_Highwind Page 53: Pentunia's shouting about Lily being a witch. Frog Spawn is mentioned. What the hell is Frog Spawn??? Um...the spawn of a frog? Wait...spawn is a child right? Well...something that comes off or out...my mom calls me the spawn of her womb so... confused Tadpole? Taylor_Highwind Page 55: Here Hagrid mentions that Harry's parents were Head Boy and Girl of their houses. I don't think you have to be Prefect to be Head...so maybe? Perhaps it's not determined on how obidient you are and it's based on how talented you are...and it did say that James and Sirius were the most talented of their year. And of course Lily would be, too. xp It's not mentioned...but I always imagined her as Ravenclaw. Taylor_Highwind Page 63/64: It mentions here that Hagrid flew to the little island shack they were staying at. My question was...how? I mean I know there are ways...but how would Hagrid fly, and get away with it? The only things I can think of (since no flying motorcycle of Sirius Black's was involved) is either broomstick or thestrel, and both seem rather flimsy for Hagrid's build. Maybe he used his umbrella and pretended to be Peach? Taylor_Highwind Page 65: Hagrid mentions that Dumbledore gets owls every day from Fudge, asking for advice. Yeah...he does that a lot. And in book three he says that he's going to keep quiet about Buckbeak's escape because everyone will lose all confidence in him if they know he not only lost Sirius, but lost a hyppogriff as well. rolleyes Taylor_Highwind Page 99: Ron mentions his mom has a second cousin who's an accountant...I thought this was curious (in a funny way). Would this make that person a Squib? Or just a wizard with a muggle job? ...what if they're an accountant for some wizarding place? o.O Taylor_Highwind Page 109: Okay, here is where Malfoy first encounters Harry and Ron on the train together, and Goyle tried to steal Ron's chocolate frog...and then Scabbers bit him. Here's my question: Since Scabbers is in fact Wormtail, does he know that Goyle's the son of a Death Eater too scared to return to their master and is vengeful, or is he just defending Ron like a loyal pet would? It just made me think... I think he was just hungry. Taylor_Highwind Page 170: This is about Harry's Quidditch Career...Wood mentions that Harry could be better than Charlie Weasley, and Charlie could've played for England if he hadn't gone of chasing dragons...so it makes me wonder, will Harry pursue his Quidditch playing skills to play for England after Hogwarts (that is, if he survives, and if you can do that and be an Auror at the same time)? He could be Super Flying Auror Man! Taylor_Highwind Page 214: Harry asks Dumbledore what he can see in the Mirror of Erised. Dumbledore responds: "I see myself holding a pair of thick, woolen socks." Do you think he's lying, or is this another of Dumbledore's wacky antics? Dumbledore is definately not lying. I should get him a nice pair of thick, woolen socks. 3nodding Taylor_Highwind Page 226: When Snape confronts Quirrell in the forest about "not wanting him as his enemy"...do you think he's trying to convince Quirrell that he's still loyal to Voldemort? Dude! You just got me thinking! eek
Okay...you know how he tells what's her face Malfoy and that evil creature Bellatrix that he only tried to stop Quirrell because he thought it was just greedy Quirrell trying to get the stone for himself and that Voldemort accepted that answer? Well...if he knows Occlumency...then wouldn't he have been able to find out that Voldemort was with Quirrell? I mean...Quirrell doesn't seem like he'd be the sort that would have strong defensive powers of Occlumency. Yet he tried stopping him anyway. ...and since Voldemort accepted that answer...that would mean he doesn't know Snape knows Occlumency...wouldn't it?
So...that all points to Snape really being on the good side...but...as stated before...no one stops being a Death Eater. confused Taylor_Highwind Page 274: Peeves is naturally pestering someone, but he mentioned ghouls and ghosts. What are the difference between the two? Um...well...a ghost is just a spirit of a dead person and a ghoul is an evil spirit/ demon. So...they're kinda different. Taylor_Highwind Page 278: Y'know, throughout the first book, Harry keeps wondering what exactly lurks in Gringotts' vaults as security, and keeps thinking it's dragons. Do you think that maybe in Deathly Hollows, they'll somehow have to go into the underground depths of Gringotts? I just wonder, because you know how JK is with hiding stuff like that. sweatdrop eek Taylor_Highwind So, that's TSS...*will get more later* xd There is so much more I didn't add to my stuff...but I only put down key facts.
According to what you just did...I guess I COULD add more... ninja

*grabs 2nd book* The following is for the American Edition of The Chamber of Secrets, hardback copy. Again, I make stupid notes. ^_^ But according to Mokey, not that stupid.
Page 26: Again we come back to the lockpicking thing. What if Fred and George's knowledge of Muggle stuff helps them in a really sticky situation in the last book?
Page 29: Ron mentions something of Mrs. Weasly having always wanted a House Elf. What if she hires Dobby somehow or something later on? ^_^ I'm sure the Weasleys would treat him nicely...but Hermione wouldn't approve.
Page 38: Mundungus Fletcher is first mentioned. 3nodding
Page 52: The Hand of Glory is seen in Borgin and Burkes...or whatever. Borgin says, "Insert a candle and it gives light only to the holder! Best friend of thieves and plunderers! Your son has fine taste sir." Lucius replies, "I hope my son will ammount to more than a thief or a plunderer, Borgin." Little does he know he'll be even more proud of what Malfoy uses it for...aiding Voldemort in killing [Dumbledore]. Although I dunno if that's a good thing on the Malfoys' part. sweatdrop
Page 57: Mr. Weasley is fondling over Hermione's Muggle parents. He notices they're exchanging money. So is this how Muggle borns get wizard money? By transferring pounds (or euro or whatever it is) into galleons and such? But then what about Muggle born orphans, or wizard orphans, that have no money at all? neutral
Page 66: They're driving off to Hogwarts and have to keep going back because people forgot stuff. Ginny screams that she forgot her diary? Would this be Riddle's diary perhaps, or just a mention of an ordinary diary Ginny's got? Knowing JK, it's the former. sweatdrop
Page 69: Ron's talking about how if they take the car, his parents can just apparate home and not mess with floo powder or whatever. If it weren't for underaged wizards, would other means of travelling besides apparition even be used? Or do some prefer longer methods?
Page 79: Again Harry feels that Snape can read minds. ^_^
Page 79: A little further down, Snape says, "I noticed, in my search of the park, that considerable damage seems to have been done to a very valuable Whomping Willow." First off, what in the world does he mean "search of the park"? What park? The grounds? Why didn't he just say grounds? *confused* Also...the way he talks about the Whomping Willow as though it's part of a plural...I always thought it was just a tree specially enchanted to attack...but it sounds like it's an actual species of tree or something...
Page 85: I never understand the sleeping arrangements of Hogwarts. Do they all have separate dorms for the separate years? Are they always the same room, or does it move along as they get older? It just confuzzles me. xp
Page 92: They're pulling mandrakes out of pots and such...and the earmuffs are used. Are these enchanted earmuffs do you think, or are they normal? I dunno if mandrakes can penetrate non-magical stuff or not...
Page 96: Colin Creevy is mentioning to Harry he's Muggle-born. Colin's got a brother, Dennis. So is it possible for Muggle-borns to have children that are both magical? Because in Lily and Petunia's scenario (it JUST occured to me that both of their names are flowers... eek ), Lily was the only one...
Page 124: Nearly Headless Nick is getting told off for trying to join the headless hunt at his deathday party...and the guy reads off a letter or whatever about how he doesn't meet the requirements, and it's signed: "Sir Patrick Delaney-Podmore." Is this ghost of relation to Sturgis Podmore???
Page 152: Something Harry was thinking about on this page made me think of the Sorting Hat and choosing Slytherins...what if it finds a Muggle-born that qualifies to be a Slytherin? eek Would they be let in, even without being pure, or at least half, blooded?
Page 158: Percy takes five points from Gryffindoor. I thought only teachers could do that?
Page 162: Lockhart claims he was able to transform a werewolf back into a man...even with a wizard who isn't a phoney, is this even possible?
Page 220: This is just after Harry and Ron use the Polyjuice Potion. After encountering Percy, Malfoy's talking bad about him and calls him "That Peter Weasley-", and then Ron, or Crabbe, corrects him. Wouldn't Malfoy get suspicious of that? I DOUBT Crabbe or Goyle ever correct ANYONE on ANYTHING. sweatdrop
Page 234: It says Riddle has a trophy shield in the trophy room. Did he get this for expelling Hagrid? Also, he saw a list of old Head Boys. Shouldn't he have seen his dad?
Page 241: When Harry went into the diary, it made me think...did Voldemort possibly make the diary so that it had a pensieve effect?
Page 244: Riddle in the memory says he's half blood, his mom a witch and his dad a muggle. Did no one ever tell him his mom was actually a Squib? And how, oh how, was Voldemort produced from a Squib and a Muggle? How is that possible?
Page 257: McGonagall's reading about the rules they have to follow after Hermione and Penelope's attack. She mentions no one can go to the bathrooms unaccompanied by a teacher. Don't they have bathrooms in the dorms? Or do they have to wait until daytime to shower and go to the bathroom? I've always had that question...
Page 261: Ironically here, Fudge is pulling a Scrimgeour move...arresting someone who's not really responsible. But again, to hush it all up, as that's Fudge's way. rolleyes Doesn't he realize that attacking it head on would've been lot less damaging to his career?
Page 267: I didn't make a note on this, but Malfoy suggests that Snape should be the new headmaster (since Dumbledore was sent away), and Snape is sure Dumbledore will be back soon enough. Is this perhaps loyalty he has to Dumbledore in hopes that he will be back, or that he's just smart enough to realize Dumbledore won't be gone for long? rolleyes
Page 271: Ron and Harry feed some treacle fudge to Fang. Wouldn't that kill him?
Page 309: Riddle's telling Harry of how Ginny talked to him through the diary...and she says her brothers tease her. I know the older ones probably do (Fred and George mostly), but does Ron? I never see him acting mean to her.
That's all. ^_^

By transferring pounds (or euro or whatever it is) into galleons and such? *gets third book* The following is for the American Edition of The Prisoner of Azkaban, hardback copy.
Page 28: Marge is insulting Harry's dad and whatnot. This made me question...what was James Potter doing after Hogwarts anyway?
Page 39: Stan Shunpike is talking to Harry about Sirius, and how Sirius laughed as they took him to Azkaban. Why was Sirius laughing do you suppose? To create an illusion, or was he in shock?
Page 51: This is the notice about the Firebolt. It says it can go to 150 mph in ten seconds. They use mph in England?
Page 53: The bookstore guy is telling them what Unfogging the Future is about...and he mentions methods of fortune telling, and says "bird entrails". How is that a form of fortune telling???
Page 85: Lupin used his patronus to get the dementor on the train away. It made me wonder what his patronus is. 3nodding
Page 97: Fred and George are talking about dementors, and they mention Azkaban, and that Mr. Weasley had to go there once. Was it a business trip, or did he maybe get sent to jail for something bad? sad
Page 106: Ron's trying to read Harry's tea leaves, and one of the things he read off was "A windfall, unexpected gold." Was he perhaps somehow seeing Harry's future winnings in the Triwizard Tournament?
Page 132: If Snape had stayed to witness the boggart lesson, Neville might have gotten detention. sweatdrop
Page 163/164: I feel so bad for Hermione. She ALWAYS has to remind Harry and Ron, and everyone else, that the castle is protected and that people CANNOT apparate inside or out. gonk A few students were talking about how he could've gotten inside, and a few suggestions they had were most likely not possible.
Page 174: It says Diggory is a fifth year. But shouldn't he be sixth year? He's seventeen in book four, and this is book three...according to that he's only fifteen. I'm confused. gonk
Page 200: It mentions Mrs. Weasley has a broomstick...and the way Ron says it, it sounds like it's a racing broom. I wonder why...?
Page 204: McGonagall, Hagrid, Fudge, Flitwick and Rosmerta are talking about Harry's dad and Sirius, and later they mention Peter. I wonder why, then, they didn't mention Lupin? He was part of the group too...although it would've revealed more sooner, yes, but still...
Page 213: Harry's having a dream about Sirius blasting Peter to bits, and it mentions that in Harry's mind, Peter resembled Neville...could this be hinting something possibly? ninja
Page 228: Okay, it's Christmas at Hogwarts, and the only people at the school are Dumbledore, McGonagall, Snape, Sprout, Flitwick, Filch, Trelawney, Harry, Ron, Hermione, two first years and a fifth year. When Trelawney arrives at dinner at the single table they have, she doesn't want to sit down because if she does, their number will be thirteen, and the first to get up after will be the first to die. This just shows how wrong she is. Harry and Ron stand up first, but [Dumbledore] is the first of anyone there to die. sweatdrop
Page 265: McGonagall comes downstairs to tell everyone to stop partying after Gryffindor's victory against Ravenclaw. Then I wondered...where does she sleep at?
Page 342: Harry's about to "kill" Sirius. My question is, how did he think he was going to do that? He doesn't know a killing curse. sweatdrop
Page 369: I thought it was odd here, Wormtail said Voldemort's name...shouldn't he have said the Dark Lord instead?
Page 374: Well, what they're talking about got me to think...how did someone like Peter Pettigrew end up in Gryffindor?
Page 429: Harry's approaching the end of the school year with the worst spirits he's ever had. He has yet to see his fifth year! sweatdrop

To create an illusion, or was he in shock? I think it was shock. I highly doubt he would try to have the illusion that he killed Peter when he didn't. confused Taylor_Highwind Page 53: The bookstore guy is telling them what Unfogging the Future is about...and he mentions methods of fortune telling, and says "bird entrails". How is that a form of fortune telling??? If you read the things in bird entrails, it tells you what will happen in the future! @.@ Yay! Bird poop! Taylor_Highwind Page 174: It says Diggory is a fifth year. But shouldn't he be sixth year? He's seventeen in book four, and this is book three...according to that he's only fifteen. Mmm...I think it might be because he wasn't a troublemaker and since they were talking about the problems Sirius and James caused it seemed irrelevent to bring him up. confused They only brought up Peter because Sirius "killed" him afterall. Taylor_Highwind Page 213: Harry's having a dream about Sirius blasting Peter to bits, and it mentions that in Harry's mind, Peter resembled Neville...could this be hinting something possibly? ninja Yeah...I got that too. I really do think that Neville is going to pull a Peter Pettigrew...although that'd be really sad. sad Taylor_Highwind Page 342: Harry's about to "kill" Sirius. My question is, how did he think he was going to do that? He doesn't know a killing curse. sweatdrop It's easy! He's going to Expelliarmus him to death. 3nodding Talor_Highwind Page 374: Well, what they're talking about got me to think...how did someone like Peter Pettigrew end up in Gryffindor? Taylor_Highwind Right you are Mokey.
SHALL I GET BOOK FOUR?! *evil deranged look on my face* twisted xd Oh snap. I've read through what you have said about the other books, and though you have some good points, I don't feel like reading through all that again...
I have this feeling that Harry is going to DIE in this next book though.
Let me get book five.
