What do you think about online dating? Of any variety. Anything from meeting online, and getting together later, to the, find out someones screen name and then you are boyfriends. What do you all think?

Well, I've tried online dating, and my experience is it just doesn't work. And it's not just trying to find the right guy, but for bisexuals like me, you can't find the right girl either! It's just all a waste of time and/or money. Unless you don't mind if they are from another state or country...

Have you ever had anyone find you online and say hi, you say hi, they say will you be my bf? Gaia is NOTORIOUS for that. Ive been here about 6 months and have been asked out like that by about 10 people. A few of them more than once. One of those few was a girl, i told her i was gay the first time....but she asked me out again :S What do you think of that?

Well, if dating without ever meeting the person is considered dating, then sure! But I don't consider that dating anymore than I consider video game characters dating. Simply because Gaia is a game and not real life. Yes, there are some people I've met on Gaia that I would like to meet in person, but more than likely, it won't happen. And I understand that.

I made a huuuuuuge post on this, but I had to kill it cause of my parents raiding my compy. I still wonder to this day what they think they are going to catch me doing. If I was hiding something, then it would be natural that it would be impossible for them to find it. So all their attempts do is interupt normal things of mine.
Anyways, to salvage what I can from a few days ago when I wrote this...
In my experience, long distance relationships -never- work out. It doesnt matter how close you are, or even if you can see each other a couple times a year. Sooner or later, it will all fall apart.
Like my Uncle Shini (no relation by blood or anything, and she is really a bisexual girl, but seme. In fact you couldnt tell she was a girl if you just talked to her online.), she was going out with this other girl on the east coast. They both lived here in Arizona at one time, but they both moved to a different state shortly after getting together. They were the cutest couple that seemed to compliment each other perfectly until Until Shini found out the Aunt Britney cheated on her! 3 years, and they were engaged and the whole bit. All over in an instant. Wolfe attributes this to the fact that they only saw each other once a year considering I knew both of them personally.
Then my second boyfriend, who only lived about 110 miles south of me. He was a little over a year older then me, I was 16, and he barely turned 18. It ws online based for about 4 months, and during this time I decided not to live anymore after I allowed my parents to find out about him so they could kinda figure out I was gay. A really long story as to why I was emo and decided to attempt to murder myself. We arent going into that in this post. Anyways, after I finally got my parents under control, I really wanted to see him cause I never felt so alone in my life. So, I ended up stealing my truck and went down to see him without my parents knowing. (Took alot of planning, as you might imagine.) It was a two hour drive one way, I stayed down there for about an hour, and spent another 2 hours coming back up. Then all hell broke loose cause I got caught cause someone decided to die a few cars ahead of me. That is another story about what happened to me after that.
And then I wondered to myself, why did I take such a risk? 4 hours driving just so I can see him for an hour. Im the kind of person that does that, but considering the risk, it wasnt logically worth it. And whats more, he is almost two years older then me, and he doesnt have a job, and thusly doesnt have a car. His dad is disabled, and so he supposedly cant have a job cause his dad wouldnt get government financial aid. Although that is true, its only true cause he still was dependant on him and couldnt live on his own. He should have come up to see me! D<
Needless to say, I broke up with him about 2 months after that.
As far as meeting people online, Gaia is great for that. I think that any serious requests to have a serious relationship with someone online before even getting to know that person will only end up with heartbreak. There is only one person I think I would ever consider going out with on Gaia.

I don't know. I mean, I think it would work, but only really if the people really love eachother. I think most people like it because they can say they have a boyfriend or girlfriend. But it does work if the people love eachother. As of now I'd be fine with having a bf online, but thats just cuz at the moment I don't even know any gay guys in real life.

I met my boyfriend online and we met after like talking to each other after a week of knowing each other and everything turned out good for me as i'm happy and so is he...so i dont see any harm in online dating as long as you know what you are doing

Every now and then youll find a pretty jewel though.[/color]
