I'm so ashamed to ask this, but can someone please explain all the different "isms" like castroism. Obviously it has to do with Fidel Castro, but what are the things it follows. Again I am ashamed to post this so please don't bash on me.

We don't bash comrade, at this guild we will never make fun of you for anything, it's good to ask questions and don't ever be ashamed. Knowledge is power comrade.

Castroism is basically the group of people that follow the beliefs, writings, ideas and actions of comrade Fidel. Similarly, Leninism is those (me included) that follow the ideas, actions, beliefs, and writings of Vladimir Lenin. Same goes for Maoism and just plain Marxism.

To be clear, we are all Marxists here, we are all communists. If you have a specific category it simply means you can relate the most to the ideas etc. of that person or the people founding that division of communism. By division I mean Anarchist-communism, council communism, etc.

You can also refer to yourself as mixed ideas, for instance- I consider myself a Marxist-Leninist-Maoist chiefly and secondly a council communist.

If you want to learn any more about any of these people you can google it, check this website http://www.marxists.org/ , or PM any mod of any forum you want to learn about- Comrade James for Trotskyism, Comrade James or me for Castroism, Me for Leninism, Forgotten Martyr for Maoism (I'm not the mod of this forum but I know a fair amount about Mao so you could pm me too), and Luftwafe for good ol' Marxism. By the way, welcome to our humble establishment comrade!

I believe it's the collection of Karl Marx's works Capital, but my dad's college copy of Capital fell apart so correct me if I'm wrong comrades.

The Manifesto is arguably the most important communist writing ever (emphasize arguably), it's quite short (depending on the printing but it's usually around 55 pages long) so it's very accesable to the open minded individual who wants to learn more but doesn't want to read Das Kapital (Capital). It outlines the most basic ideas of communism and if you haven't read it you should, it's quite interesting and can be finished in a sitting.

Thank you comrade; I haven't found time to get a new copy of Capital, and couldn't find the time to read it. I shall read the Manifesto before I go on an annoying road-trip to Arizona, in which I plan to continue, obviously not finish, Capital. During my vacation I will be on as soon as opportunity presents itself; for I have no life otherwise and would be utterly bored. I may, however, miss a day or two, but seeing as I am on more than need-be it shouldn't have much effect.

Dont feel ashamed comrade, we all have been in your predicament at one or another. We were all born in a corrupt social order and pulled together to learn what we know now. Keep up your studies and you'll understand where you fit in.
