I'll start things off in here with my own personal favorite anime-ka of all times, Hayao Miyazaki! heart
Of the Miyazaki films I've seen, Spirited Away is my top favorite, closely followed by Howl's Moving Castle. And I'm proud to say that My Neighbor Totoro was my first ever anime, thanks to my elementary music teacher, Mr. Omata! ((Aki-chan remembers him, ne?)) mrgreen
So, what do you guys think about Miyazaki movies? Which have you seen, and which are your favorites? surprised heart

I have seen all the English translated Miyazaki movies except several of the Lupin the Third ones. I love them all - each has a completely different moral to it - but I'd say my absolute favorites are Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, and Princess Mononoke.

Well, I don't really favor Spirited away. But I LOVE Princess Mononoke and Howl's Moving Castle. Most of his films are good. I just like specific ones. But they are still all good movies.

I need to see Princess Mononoke again...I saw it back when I was 14, but not since then...I did love it though, I love the wolves and the little forest spirits that rattled their heads( I don't know what they're called)
The other ones I've seen though are Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Castle in the Sky: Laputa, Kiki's Delivery Service, Totoro...Yeah, that's it. I just gotta collect all of those Miyazaki movies... 3nodding heart
Too bad he's retiring, too... sad

Oo He's retiring?! Nooo! I like just about all of the Miyazaki movies. heart My favorites are Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle. (A friend of mine said the book of HMC is better though. I'm pretty sure the author was American and a copy of it can be found in the library in Little Rock, Arkansas, U.S. if anyone is in that vicinity. I have yet to read it but I want to soon. X3)

I just hope Miyazaki's son can do as good a job as he does. Sad that he's retiring though - I hear he's working on at least one more movie at least.

Hikaru-chan just reminded Sheba of what book she needs to hunt down next time she's at Barnes and Noble/Borders! surprised I heard that the anime and the book are quite different, but I think even then, the anime will have a very special place in my heart....Ok, that just sounded completely corny...Still, though, I'll always love it. sweatdrop rofl
@ Momo-chan I totally agree with you about his son. And which movie is going to be Miyazaki-sensei's final movie before retirement? *leans towards Momo-chan expectantly*

And too bad I didn't have more money when I went to Borders today. I spent what little money I took with me on a Harry Potter book about the Great Snape Debate. Good times were had by all. (by that I mean me and Aki-chan) xd

I love his flims! Castle in the Sky and Howl's Moving Castle are my favorites! It is really sad on how he is retiring. He made a lot of really good/awsome/great/exciting movies.

Spirited Away is my favorite of his films, but I haven't seen many of them.
It'll be nice to see that film that's coming out in 2008 3nodding

When it comes up I'll post about it again, though. I think the (way too small) article said it's going to take about a year and a half. (Sorry to disappoint on a title sad )

Okay, you might know it by now, but I found an article about Miyazaki's new movie. It's called "Ponyo On a Cliff". And, I'm not 100% sure because of the wording, but there's a chance Miyazaki might not be retiring after all. Anyway his new movie is going to be done with less CGI and instead pastels and watercolors. They're aiming for a mid-2008 release. I can copy the article if you want?
