Town: Vinnad

Vinnad is a quiet mining town in the northern province of Sanderfall. Very quiet. Its small population of miners and blacksmiths are a quiet group of people who value peace over war and are very adamant about anything to do with war. However, the blacksmiths of Vinnad are renowned across Sanderfall for their immensely powerful shields.

Karthan Phyramere, the son of Lord Zenmaru, looked at the ceiling of the room he was in. He was in the inn of Vinnad and was.. bored. He had been sent up north to talk with the mayor of Vinnad but the aged fool had forgotten to schedule him. So he had to wait a week before meeting the mayor.

.. One whole week of waiting for an old fart. "Blagh," the teenager muttered, as his eyes turned to the nearby window.

In the woods nearby, Dark powers stirred. Tom the blade held the edge, surrounded by his 'men' and the fifty odd reiks they had slain. around him, were the dead.
before arriving there, he had come across a battlefield, lucky him. the old site was still rotting from some family feud between humans. now, his ranks were one hundred and seventy. they stood at the edge of vinnad, ready to attack on Tom's orders.
The thing in black robes by him stirred in his sack. his hood fell off, revealing one of the most horrid beasts ever to clamber from hell...
A widowmaker. able to raise the dead to fight again until they were slain, it was this that had brought Tom back. but Tom had other plans. seeing the weakness of living from his dead state, he knew he was destined to remove these weak living and sit upon his own throne. his elite twenty were warriors from the old, blessed with Mynth 'rell armor- Relics from the golden age. they were numerously wounded, but they did not bleed. warriors that would fight until their second death.
Tom was ready for war.

A knock came to Karthan's door. He slid off his bed and walked to the wooden frame and opened it to be greeted by a Sanderfall royal messenger. He took the letter that was given to him and quickly read it. He nodded to the messenger and the man was off running back to the young prince's father.

Whatever over took the Reik had to be fast if only one Reik was able to get to his father. So that meant that the beings would most likely attacked one of the neighbouring fishing villages or Vinnad soon. Prince Karthan felt the handles of his two brightmetal* swords as he thought about the needed actions to take.

He rushed to the nearby barracks and gathered th- the bells of the mining town then rang. They rang loud and hard. A guard on one of the walls had spotted a small army outside Vinnad's thick gates, and had rang the alarm. The soldiers he had gathered soon were commandeered by the town's captain and taken to the walls of Vinnad.

The prince followed the gathering forces and was at the wall blocking the mining town and the wilderness within a moment of walking. His feet touched down on the top of the walls and his eyes looked on at the gathered crew of Reiks, warriors, and thrashed corpses. Karthan suddenly knew what the letter was telling him about. His hands wove tightly around the brightmetal swords' hilts on his belt.

[*Brightmetal: metal blessed by both Calsifer and Angstrom.]

Tom Smiled his ghastly smile, knowing the sonfusion within. he stayed outside of arrow reach, ringing around the small indentation of the mountain. his men could see all in front. there was no escape.
They were dead. they required no food, no rest, no water. they could sit, and wait...
and wait...
and wait...

".. We outnumber them, Captain," a recruit said. Karthan's ears piqued at this comment and turned to look at Vinnad's commander. "They seem to only have thirty or so armed fighters, too. All two-hundred of our men are well armoured and armed, so destroying them would be easy."

The Captain frowned at the young recruit's points. "They have the advantage, sonnie. Firstly, they may have reinforcements from beyond the forest's edge. They also seem to have.." His eyes went over to the group of ill-organized persons beyond the wall. The man's eyes focused on the black cloaked man. ".. a priest of some sort. Where priests are there are normally gods."

Karthan interceded right then and there and gathered the adamant stares of the nearby troops. "They're Tom de Blade's men. They are also impervious to damage and seem to be the work of some being's magick. My father--our king--has already alerted me to this thread in a letter." He pulled the letter from his pocket and handed it to the elderly soldier.

The Captain breezed through the letter quickly and handed it back to the prince. "I'd prefer to have to never fight the gods.. Angstrom help us." All the soldiers, and the Captain, made the holy sign of Angstrom. Karthan, too, made the holy symbol. ".. Soldier," the Captain began, " Go get the black smiths and wood cutters in the market place to gather their supplies. Have then come here within the hour. We must strike at them soon and try to root them from our noble city!" With that order the soldier that the Captain had ordered ran off toward the town's centre.

He turned back to Karthan and frowned at the Prince. "Prince. This is no place for you. Go back to the inn and wait for your meeting with the Mayor."

"... No, loyal Captain. I am Phyramere Karthan, first prince of all of Sanderfall. I have been trained by both my father and Ikkuku Razorblade in the way of war and in one on one combat. I can take on any denizen sent to me by fate, luck, or the gods." His hand went to the red leather hilts on his belt. "I will gladly die for any person in the kingd. Just like my father I will protect these lands from the darkness."

Tom Raised his hand, and the rest of his men came from the woods. the Reiks, the corpses... all of them. He set the reiks off to the roads, to destroy them, and destroy any ways by the mountain. it would take a few days, but they would be completely and totally isolated.
and then, another two hundred plus men would be under their banner. near the forest, Tom saw an incoming supply train. the train stopped, and Tom knew what would make this siege go faster. Leaving 150 men on the border, he took his twenty originals and attacked the train. in less than twenty minutes, there were none alive. the corpses, though, were too tattered through Tom's viciousness to be of ANY use. Tom frowned. lucky for them... or is it?
the siege would now be a little harder... until the Reik-dead blew the tunnels and destroyed the roads. this city would be the first step on their path of destruction.
He laughed at what they must have thought...
No god, previous or otherwise, would 'bless' a mortal to revive the dead in such an unsanctifying act of the dead. this was a work of pure evil, from hell itself. no god could control this beautiful sight.

After three days of labor, the tunnels collapsed in a mighty crack!
Shattering the tunnels and closing off their last escape. a few of the reiks had died their final death in the tunnels, but what were they to Tom the blade?
Three days, and no other supplies had come via caravan. a few travelers, but they were slain and quickly joined Tom's ranks.
And now, with no routes of escape, and all possible paths sealed, Vinnad's doom was sealed. in more time, the people would die, and the walls would go unmanned. no matter the gardens they had, once they exhausted theri meager stocks of food and cleansed the gardens and small farmlands, they would die. and then...
Vinnad would be Tom's Strongpoint from which he would conquer Anthelos.

3 Days.

It had taken 3 days to ready Vinnad`s weapons. The smiths in the northern province had always been alone. They only had a small group of 200-some soldiers to protect them from bandits, and were normally left to fend for themselves during wars. The intelligent, hardworking, and industrious town boasted strong iron workers and even stronger miners.

The woods beyond the town always gave the city an abundant supply of lumber. The minerals behind the town always had a massive amount of rare ores and rocks. With using these two things and finding it necessary to defend themselves from attackers from the north and from the raving tribes of savage Gryks, Vinnadonians created weapons to use from behind their high walls.

Now they brought those weapons out from storage. With a villager and a soldier beside each one of them they readied them for use. To put it simply, these items of carnage were 'cannons'. By using the ore mined from the mountain to create the cannon balls, the wood of the Wild to create the cannon's, the hard iron from the nearby mines to bind the wooden body, and the minerals to form the gunpowder, the villagers had created a weapon to defend themselves from the evils that would normally attack them through-out the ages.

Gryks years ago, other towns, other kingdoms, the golden kingdom.. Even Lord Zenmaru fought against them with a huge army behind him. Lord Zenmaru had gotten them to join his new nation through peaceful means, however, and dodged the usage of Vinnad's cannons. Those very cannons then let loose their charges at the troop of undead.

A shattering roar blasted the heavens as the powder blew the iron balls toward the attackers. Their red hot spheres, if they didn't hit their aimed targets, would smash into the ground around the small force. Small craters, nay larger than five feet in radius, would form around Tom de Blade.

((whoo... gonna be hard to beat...
EDIT- Booya! Beaten by one!
now you roll d6. 5+ the cannons blow out.))

The cannonballs crashed Right next to Tom, One nicking his ear as it went. he laughed as the weapons crashed through a small reik behind him. he laughed even harder when the reik stood up again, Mangled, and missing most of his left side... But his head remained intact.
Tom had a wicked Idea.
"Get the Reiks. take ten, and give them shovels and pickaxes. I have a plan."

[1d6]

Several of the cannons blew, sending small fragments of wood out from their location. While quite a few of them exploded, there still remained a sizable chunk of the artillery behind the walls. Slightly shaken from the blasts the villagers and soldiers who were still capable move back to their posts. Others, who were wounded from the splinters, were soon seen by the female townspeople who had come to assist their husbands and brothers.

[1d100]

A section of the soldiers, whom had bows with their regular gear, began to string their long ranged weapons. They slid the thin piece of string from the furthest end of their bow to the other, and fitted an arrow onto their bows. Within a moment they fired a quick volley of arrows between the walls and the group of dead.

Atop of the walls, and between a thick piece of stone fortification, the Captain looked on at the just attacked group. They seemed to have taken a direct hit.. Yet were still walking. Especially the furry-people in the troupe who were hit the worst. Still, though, they were able to move and seemed to be gathering weapons. Pickaxes and shovels, he noted, as he stared at the group through a light 10" telescope.

Prince Karthan looked at the Captain, rather mystified at what just happened. Both the town's artillery and the fact that the opposing forces survived the blast plainly awed the young prince.

((Hmmm... Roll, my dice! Probably only gonna get a thirty... ):
EDIT- Damn!! 98! unlucky for you...))

Arrows whistled by, thudding into bodies, but doing almost nothing. The few unarmored ones withdrew arrows from their bodies and tossed them into a large pile. Tom laughed his ghastly, whistling laugh once more.
"You, You, and you. Go to the woods, find some springy saplings and animals. we make bows to bombard them with their own arrows."
The reiks had just begun tunneling as these orders were given.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The reiks were excellent workers and fast learners. they were even better dead, as the dead needed no breaks. within two days they had seven tunnels deep underground, supported by beams and other supports. they were positioned directly underneath the walls, by the gates, and at the ends. Tom ordered the reiks out, and, gave the order to collapse it. While this was being done, he ordered the men, bows completed enough to stand up to a few shots, loosed two flights of arrows over Vinnad's walls.

A few moments later, with a mighty shriek of splitting wood and screeching stone, the tunnels collapsed.
The walls had been breached.

(Roll 100 to see how badly the arrow attack affected you. Beat the roll up there, divided in half as Im breaching the walls. so beat 49.)
