So my cat Max(who's MY cat of all the cats we have...confusing, yes I know, but it makes sense when you read it a few times....), anyways, he has this mucus-y substance coming from his left eye, he can't open it and my mom says it looks a little swollen, but I can't see any swelling. He's also been rubbing it every few minutes, and it's easy to see that he's in pain from it. So I've looked around the internet, and all signs are pointing towards eye infection. So, tomorrow we take him to the vet and see what she says, because they aren't open this late at night. Still, it worried me when I saw it, and we've been cleaning off the mucus everytime we see it. But he's not the same old Max that he used to be.
So, I'll post results of the vet trip when we get back, and if you guys hav eany advice for whatever else I can do, please share....

Perhaps your cat was in a fight. My Smokey just came back from a little fight and he wouldn't look at us so I have a feeling he lost... He's happy now though. My advice is that..I actually don't have any. Just be patient, I guess. Good luck!

Oh thanks....
Well, Max is strictly indoors, he's so afraid of the outside world.... Well, he enjoys looking out windows and doors, but what cat doesn't like that?
Anyways, my mom was right, it was swollen right up. He hasn't been himself for a while, and this morning we found him in the closet, trying to hide from us. Which cats do, at least the cats that I've known have all hidden when they were in pain. It was not an infection, but a corneal ulcer. The vet reassured us that it's common, because my mom started to flip, thinking it was something along the lines of a tumor. We got some meds for him, and he seems to be acting somewhat more like himself. Hopefully, he'll be back to coming around greeting whoever walks through the door, and cuddling in our laps in no time.
