As it has been proved, global warming is a REAL problem. Not a hoax. And it WILL take a team effort of almost every person to fix things, and Man has damaged eatrth so much, we cannot fix it cmpletely, but there are a few things you can do to help conserve energy and reduce pollution n_n
CARPOOL for gods sake, TAKE THE DAMNED BUS.
-Use a publuc transportation system of some sort, using one vehicle to move 30+ people, instead of 30+ vehicles. Yes i know busses and bus stops are icky places, thats what hand sanitisers are for.
IF THE ABOVE IS NOT AN OPTION FOR YOU then:
-Look into a hybrid or electric vehicle, ride your bike, walk, get in shape while saving the environment! Two birds with one stone!
TURN OFF THE FRICKIN LIGHT
sounds stupid, but it will conserve energy, which may come from a plant that: Uses fossil fuels, which contribute to A LOT of the pollution.
WEAR A SWEATER
why waste energy to turn on the heater for 1/2 hour, when theres a perfectly good jacket/sweater sitting in your house, that wont use any energy to put on/wear!
USE FLUORESCENT LIGHTBULBS
Fluorescent lightbulbs require less energy, and are brighter! We use them all over our house, and they are whats lighting up my room right now!
USE POWER-BAR THINGIES
Yes, power bar thingies xD .... i kinda forgfot the real word for it.... but, you plug in many appliances, and there is a switch. you turn off the switch at night, because even when things like the television and computer are turned off, they still use electricity, when you turn off the power bar thingie, it will stop that.
TAKE A BATH
take a bath instead of a shower, it takes a bit longer, but, it is better than having to have all the hot water heated and running for 10-20 minuites.
TUNE UP YER CARS.....AND GET AIRCARE
Keep your cars running smoothly to increase efficiency, so it will use less gas, get aircare to help reduce pollution 3nodding
USE ENERGY STAR APPLIANCES
these are appliances that are energy efficient, and use less energy to be operated, you will recognise these by the little energy star symbol usually stuck onto the box and/or appliance
I'd appreciate any more ideas to be posted here 3nodding
and again, sorry for the illiteracy of my post sweatdrop

The only ones that I can't comply with are the 1st 2nd and last thing. We have no buses here in the middle of nowhere, I can't afford a hybrid on my husbands military salary and the military furnishes my appliances here in base housing. Everything else I already do, including recycling almost everything...and I am not even a tree hugger really.

YEs! on Bath's. They are more fun and you waste less water.
Especially if your washing your hair or shaving...
I love baths!
Also, it's always a good Idea to RECYCLE!!
REcycle everything!
Especially paper!
We can't afford to lose anymore trees!
At work I collect all the papers I find in the trash, mainly in the managers office.
I have set up a box where they can trow their paper and I pick it up when I'm at work and take it to be recycled. It's alot!
LIke a huge box full in like 2 days. Imagine it was all going to waste!
Every little bit helps.
Don't trow your junk mail in the trash, recycle that paper - use the envelopes as notecards for grocery shoping, cut back on notecards...
If you don't have recycling units in your area ask the city about getting one!
Get active!
Recycle your plastics and glass!

They provide us with a standard sized outside trashcan that is already divided so that you can easily separate your recyclables, then we just drive them to the commissary parking lot where they have the recycling center bins. It is easy peasy.

REcycling here is not a convinince.
That's a big part of the reason most peole don't recylce.
But I still do and encourage many to do the same.

Use fabric bags instead of plastic ones. It stops the production of plastic bags which is a lot of litter at garbage dumps.
I swear I had other ones, but I can't think of them. I'll post them when I remember.

Turn the tap off when brushing your teeth, you could save up to two gallons of water.
Use cold wash detergents for your clothes, it saves a lot of engery and the detergent pretty much costs the same. Its a win - win situation.
And if the weather is nice out, dry your clothes outside. They'll have such a yummy fresh scent and you save more energy!
These aren't the ideas that I had from yesterday, but rather some that I came up with in the shower this morning. And for the record, my showers are only about 5 minutes, so its better for me to take that than a bath, espeically since my tub takes about a half hour to fill up.... ><

A couple more
When you're drying your hands in a public restroom, use the air dryer. Less energy is wasted compared to that when you factor in the energy used to process the paper towel. If there's only paper towel though, use just one piece.
Air dry your hair every once and a while and say to heck with the blow dryer.

Um.. I always turn off the light when I leave..
I guess that helps..
As for other things, I don't even like the whole, "global warming" issue.
They called it "global cooling" earlier - and now scientists still don't understand if the Earth's temperature has either rose or fallen.
:/

True really, BUT the known facts are: the earth WILL one day run out of oil, therefor, no gas or aything = electtric cars. And, pollution is a bad thing, no onelikes smogy air, so make the earth look pretty and save energy! and, there has to be SOME explanation for the climate change.
