I got Factions on Tuesday.
I'm dowloading it on Wednesday.
I'm making a ritualist as my first character, and I've narrowed down the sub-class choices:
Monk -- Smiting Prayers + Channeling Magic
Necro -- Death Magic + Spawning Power
Ranger -- Spawning Power + Communing + Wilderness Survival

Rt/ is bad for energy management & the recharge times can be a damper stressed Mo/Rt and or N/Rt are great combo's mrgreen Gotta give some heart to R/Rt (splinter weapon bp's)

Why are they bad for energy management?
They have the base 30 like other casters, right?
I haven't added Factions yet, so I wouldn't know.
And yes, the R/Rt is good. Splintering Weapon + Barrage FTW.

High cost spells + long recharge time cry Well, not 100% high cost & long recharge time, just on the majority of the skills you'll wanna use stressed

I have a channel spiker and rit lord in GW and have absolutely no problem with her energy management. Provided you time everything right and maintain your elite skills (they vary according to build) you'll regen energy pretty damn fast. =3
Rt/Monk is handy ONLY for the rez spells.
Rt/Necro = FREAKING AWESOME (Pick this one if you want some fun)
Ranger isn't too bad, has it's problems sometimes though as there is quite poor energy management.
I usually go Pure Rit and ignore my secondary but if I'm after a lot of fun I would choose Rt/Necro as they give a whole new meaning to "Minion Master". Your minions may be a lower level but they've a damn sight more HP and last a lot longer.

I didn't say it was impossible but its very intensive to make sure you have enough energy & enough time for skills to recharge... Rt/N and or N/Rt is a lot of fun mrgreen

o.O I've never had a problem with energy or skill recharge, maybe I'm just used to playing a Rit as she's my main character now instead of my ele.

I ended choosing monk, because I'm wicked impatient (plus I already have an MM).
But, like Paramekia said, going all Rit worked for me.
I got to lv. 15 in on day :D And she's a better healer than my monk (who I now use as a nuker anyway).

Only problem with restoration rits is the regen time on spells but that can get fixed through a number of smiting monk skills (balths aura for one). Personally I love Restoration rits if we're in a tight spot for healers as the spirits I have freaking ROCK for it.
Tip though:
ALWAYS buy three helms - keep all your other armour generic except for the helmets. customise the helmet to match a different stat such as Channeling/Communing/Rest so you're literally "prebuilt" and always prepared. Means you can swap around major ruins really easily too.
S'pose you could change shoes too but I always go for the helmets because you can hide those - my rit has one Luxon one and two Shing jea ones so I hide the Shing Jea ones when I'm using them...thus, nothing clashes. =D

That actually sounds like a good idea, which I will steal and exploit for myself. Rawr.
And as for clashing, I always use the brown-grey mic for my rit, because it's a very... natural color. Green + grey for my necro, purple + yellow for my monk, and brown + yellow for my ranger. :]

xD All my rit armour is silver but the styles of helmet don't always suit my luxon stuff, which is why I hide her helm when she hasn't got the luxon one on.

What I like about the luxon rit armor is that it doesn't have that ugly black bodypaint that makes you HAVE to keep the helmet on without looking... creepy.
