User Image[ "O ] h… my… GOD. WHERE THE BLOODY HELL IS FIG?!” Her shrill voice saturated with panic rang throughout the area in front of Flourish and Blots, the silver-haired boy beside her winced in pain at the sudden outburst. Alice and her male friend had just finished discussing where they should go, her loosing the argument, and leading the way to the wizarding book store for their books, when she noticed something was missing. Like a very large piece of a puzzle that she had only turned her gaze away for one second. A puzzle piece that managed to somehow leave it’s place, someway loosing it’s place by doing something really, really STUPID. The puzzle piece’s name: Fig.

“AGGHHH! This is all YOUR fault!” the hot-headed redhead shrieked, pointed her finger at Rain, taking the time to aim all her vicious anger at the boy beside her, a look of pure frustration and dread painted across her pale face. Yes, it was all RAIN’S fault. If he hadn’t been arguing with her in the first place, and had gotten ice cream instead of doing what they were supposed to be doing, Fig would have stayed in place, not wander off, and get himself in a situation where he could get into serious trouble, she decided. Yep. All Rain’s fault.

User Image“What? MINE?! How is it MY fault?” he retorted back, giving her an intense green glare back at the one she had so graciously reserved for him. Oh, how it made him feel so special. Crossing his arms across his chest, Rain waited for an answer back, staring down at the fuming redhead. Though Rain was pretty worried about the missing boy whom he had been friends with since child-hood, also, the fact that Alice was laying down the blame in him didn’t amuse him one bit, and made all his emotions shift over to her attention.

“Uhh… I don’t know! But it’s your fault, because you didn’t pay attention! Ohh… where in the world would he GO?” Alice asked no one in particular, beginning to pace around in circles, the silver haired boy being the center of her round-about trail, “He couldn’t have gotten far… Oh my god, what if someone got to him?! What if it’s a dark wizard, wanting to dissect him, or turn him to the dark side? What if it’s a creep?!” Alice’s black-frenched nails began to dig deep into the pale skin of her face, as her wide terror stricken eyes became wider and wider by every morbid thought that traced her mind, “We’ve only been here for 5 minutes, and we already LOST him! What will we tell Mrs. And Mr. Violino?! ‘Hi, we lost your child in the unknown wizarding world. We have no idea where he is; he could be being eaten by some magical creature right now. We’ll keep in touch if we find his body somewhere.’?!”

Rain heaved out a sigh, rolling his eyes at his redheaded friend’s exaggerated anxiety and her completely ridiculous thoughts; he figured she was having one of those half-fake anxiety attacks. He knew she wasn’t one for being this worried about anything, though she wasn’t a cynical pessimist, either. And when he thought about it, Fig WAS like their younger brother; the situation was kind of similar to two older siblings being in charge of their younger brother, and loosing him at the super market while both their backs are turned simultaneously.

Rain has somehow knew this was going to happen in the back of his mind; Fig wandering out somewhere, and Alice having a panic attack. It was, in fact, inevitable. And here he was, standing there, as his secret crush was pacing around him in circles, jabbing permanent holes into her skin with her nails. What was he to do, but to calm her down, and tell her that everything would be alright? And to ensure her that they’ll find Fidelio… Somehow.

“Alice, calm down,” Rain stated simple, pulling her away from her tracks, his hands firmly around her small shoulders, looking down at her with intense jade eyes. Alice stopped her blabbering, the nails from her face pulling away slightly, as she gazed up at him, horrified.

How DARE he tell me to calm down, she had thought, her icy blue eyes narrowing into tight slits, such as a snake; a look that would have made any former Slytherin proud. Too bad she hadn’t been sorted into that cunning and malicious house. Her small hands instantly left from in front of her face, and grasped his own shoulders, dangerously close to his neck, and rapidly starting to shake him violently.

“RAIN! Don’t tell me to calm down! Do you know how much trouble we’ll get if Nana or Mr. and Mrs. Violino find out that we lost Fig!? DO YOU!?” Alice continued to shake him in a vicious manner, shutting her eyes tight, as she let out a nasty growl of fury.

Rain let her shake his body, though it only barely moved him, being so strong and full of muscle, it was almost impossible for the young girl to even BUDGE him. But he let her shake him as much as she could, a slight bored look glazed over his eyes, as he watched the bystanders around them stare in confusion at the sight. He was pretty sure that it looked like Alice was attempting at choking him. Or something along the lines of a newly wed couple. Yes, they did argue a lot like newly weds. Eh, Rain got used to it by the 2nd week he knew her.

User ImageUser Image[ T ] he mere idea of leaving young Alanis Henson alone on the street, to go look for a way into her destination, was not at all thrilling to her over-protective, sheltering, and dramatically emotional parents. But when a young witch is in desperate need of supplies to head off to her magical school, it was mandatory, no matter how much Alanis’ parents argued, for her to stay far away from the world that she was granted to be a part of. The offer was far from being even close to tempting, since Alanis had become so adequate to the wizarding world; it felt like she belonged. And plus, she’d rather be pushed around by hurried busy people in a crammed up street, than back home, having to kick a soccer ball everywhere, and then escape when her parents weren’t looking. It was lovely to have a break from trying to be “normal” for her parents all the time during the summers. And yet, they still have not taken away the medication. Pity.

The Jensons had in the end broken down to their precious daughter, leaving her with a rather dramatic farewell as they sped off down the pavement in the car. Did they even mention what time they were going to come get her from her shopping? Eh, Alanis didn’t really take any mind toward the though. She’d like to spend the whole day at Diagon Alley, along with her most trusted and treasured best friend high up in the sky above her head, of course. This reassured her enough to where she found an entrance to the wizarding shopping center.

Heaving out a sigh from a smile, Alanis’ pale blue eyes shined with excitement and cheerfulness at the sight before her. Vivid colors of multicolored shopping bags, wildly outstanding objects that seemed to have no purpose at all, hoards of strange and unfamiliar, but jolly, people, packed into tiny groups, chattering away… Though it wasn’t the most serene sort of place, it still felt like home… Alanis felt like she belonged. She stood in her faded flared jeans, a navy blue spaghetti strapped top layered over a black, short-sleeved shirt, and a pair of old worn-out converse. And of course she has that black side-sling bag on her shoulder, you know, the one with all the strange buttons? Yes, she did feel a bit peculiar, dressed in muggle clothing, rather than the usual magical attire. But how could she afford such fine robes? After all, she was muggle-born.

Alanis pulled back a few strands of her blonde hair, the plastic multi-colored bands around her wrist sliding down slightly, as she peered down at a long list of unusual supplies required for school in the other. She had very much work to do today, but had a lot of time left… so she knew that she wasn’t in any rush, which she liked.

“Okay… first on the list: The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 3. Sooo…” her pale eyes glanced up toward the curvy cobble-stoned street before her, eyes searching for the one shop she knew had what she needed, “I should head down to Flourish and Blotts.” she decided, a small curvy grin graced her lips at the thought of the newly crisp smelling pages of books that filled floor to ceiling. She had only been inside the shop twice before in her life time, before her first year, and just last summer, when she was in need of her 1st and 2nd year books. But, in those few times, she had never let herself wander around in the store, and take an eye to it’s merchandise. And this time, she DID. The smile widened, bringing her white teeth into view as she made her way through the packs of witches and wizards. She had all day to explore.

-----

The faint bell rang through Alanis’ ears, as she stepped foot into the two-floored shop. She had taken notice of the noisy commotion from outside the shop, which was now muffled by the widows and door, thank goodness. The two bickering at each other had been students she knew from Hogwarts, and were getting quite the attention from bystanders as the redhead was nearly choking the one with abnormally silver hair, who just stood there like it was perfectly normal. Alanis had only gotten a glance of it, but had quickly decided she’d rather be away from them, than having the possibility that she might get her eyes scratched out by that vicious redhead.

Alanis had concluded that the books she required for class would be dealt with later, and immediately headed toward the staircase that lead to the second story of the shop; usually all the good, mysterious novels were up high, correct? Simple common sense. The mass collection of books that ranged in size brought excitement to Alanis’ large blue eyes, and she immediately headed to the department where all the fantasy and seemingly morbid books had been shelved. She felt herself become giddy, and almost greedy, as her fingers began to trace along the rich bindings of variety. One that had caught her eye, however, was a rather flashy looking book, one that looked attractive enough. As Alanis pulled it out, though, her nose wrinkled up in dislike, as she read of the name inside of her head, ‘“Voyages with Vampies” by Gilderoy Lockhart.”

“Humph! What a piece of rubbish,” she stated callously, tossing the gaudy novel over her shoulder, letting it fall not so gently on the surface of a table top, her nose flared in extreme dislike.

Gilderoy Lockhart. Most positively of the most detested literature writers on Alanis Jenson’s list. It seemed to the young blonde that most of the Ravenclaw females in either her dorm, or just anywhere, had chattered away about his good looks, and how he was oh so such a wonderful wizard. And it came to her realization that most of the girls who had purchased his books only made due of it for the pictures, cutting them out, and posting them all over their dorm room. Eventually, Alanis had eventually requested one of his books from a fellow classmen, who, hesitantly, handed her the book. She hadn’t gotten up until the 21st page before throwing it across the floor, disgusted by his acts and form of writing, already. First off, the title ‘Gadding with Ghouls’ was sickening enough, but the endless sentences about how he felt about his hair and shampoo… nuh-uh. Thus, this resulted to her passionate hatred toward the dashing wizard. That, or she just wanted to hate him because everyone else loved him.

A book that had been placed high up on one of the highest shelves had almost instantly caught Alanis’ attention. But when she attempted to reach for the black binding with silver curvy lettering that said ‘The Miserable Tales of Nocturnal Creatures' (I dunno, first thing that popped into my head), her fingertips just barely tapped the edge. Her heels of her converse touched the hard wood floor. An exasperated sigh escaped her lips, which had formed into a purse, just slightly.

‘Curse my height.’

User ImageRosaline seemed to float down the cobblestone street of Diagon Alley. She didn't pay much attention to passers-by who thought oddly of her bright red hair. It was especially curly today, which delighted Rosaline when she woke up that morning. She expected the beds in the hotel simply ghastly to sleep in, until the pillow made her hair flat and easy to work with. In the end, it was worth saving money on accomadations, this meant Rosaline had more money to spend in the Alley, on things she wanted.

Atop her head sat a black and white herringbone fedora, which she had embellished with a megenta ribbon to add color. Her oufit consisted mainly of a lightwashed denim shirtdress with large pockets in the front and long sleeves which she had rolled and slouched up to her elbows. To finish her top half, Rosaline wore a solid green vest on top of her dress, but left it open to reveal a brown leather belt that cinched her waist. Her legs were covered in black opaque tights, accompanied by chunky, lavender, mary-jane style pumps. The shoes added a lovely 3 1/2 inches to her height, making her her desired height. 5' 5'' just wasn't enough to cut it in the modeling business.

As a faint breeze blew, it was a bit too chilly for Rosaline's outift, and she sought refuge inside the nearest shop. Rosaline found herself in the busy and unusually loud Flourish & Blott's. She decided to avoid the noise, thinking it better to stay away from that sort of attention. Rosaline truly loved it when all eyes were on her, something that made her adore the stage... but alas, there wasn't a theater depertment of Hogwarts, go figure.

Rosaline browsed the aisles of herbology and plant books until she got bored. She had realized that she really didn't know what [other than the cold] had compelled her to enter the store. Meaning to find the exit, Rosaline turned the corner of another aisle and came across a struggling fellow Ravenclaw. It was a common misconception that all Ravenclaws loved to read, but the young blonde before her was one of the few who fell into that particular stereotype. Rosaline approached her and peered up to the shelf the girl was trying to get at. She automatically knew to reach for the book with the strangest title, as Rosaline heard the blonde was a nutter, she just couldn't remember her name.

"What a cheerful title," Rosaline noted, handing the book to the young Ravenclaw. Thankful for her shoes, Rosaline seemed to tower over the girl, who now had the peice of literature she desired.

No, Bailey had been here many, many times before, with her aunt or with Draco and his family. Not that those trips were ever much fun. Bailey always felt bad, just for being with people who threw such ugly looks around.

What overwhelmed Bailey on this trip to Diagon Alley were the multitudes of people, shuffling kids around, running in and out of stores and shops, buying the little ones ice cream at Fortescue's ice cream parlor. All of them were getting ready to send their children off to school.

Aunt Susan took Bailey by the hand, and they weaved in and out of the crowds, finally reaching Flourish and Blotts, and hurrying through the doors to get out of the noise on the street. Bailey looked around, her hazel eyes widening, and a smile growing on her lips. This was her favorite shop.

"Auntie," asked Bailey, tugging her guardian's hand, "If I'm good, may I pick out a book to buy?"

Susan smiled. Bailey certainly took after her mother. She'd read everything in sight if she could! She crouched down, looked Bailey in the eyes, and said, "Darling, today you may have all the books you like, because this year you'll be off to Hogwarts, and I'll miss buying you books so terribly!"

Bailey smiled ear to ear, and hugged her aunt around the neck. "Thank you!" She ran off to the fantasy section and began perusing the books, while Susan picked out her textbooks for her.

'This is turning out to be a good year already!' thought Bailey, as she gently took a book from the shelf and looked through its pages.

User ImageUser Image[ S ] o it was less than likely that Alanis would be able to attain the black book placed up to the far reaches of the higher shelves, but Alanis was determined to get that rather depressing titled novel. She wished to just skim the pages, to see what it was about, the title revealing everything about what the contents held, and yet it explained nothing. Nothing at all. What kind of nocturnal creatures were exposed inside? Where the tales told really that miserable? Alanis longed and needed to know. It was completely mandatory to satisfy her inquisitiveness. And if it really was fit for her desires, Alanis had decided that she ought to have at least one thing not required for school, and better yet, something to occupy her time on the long, painlessly tiring ride to her boarding school, Hogwarts. ‘I’ll most likely be sitting alone, anyhow, so might as well get something that’ll replace social interaction, I suppose,’ she sighed to herself, preparing to turn around in search of a stool.

But when long, graceful fingers grasped her desired book, Alanis was taken aback, pulled from the thoughts of the hurtful trip far ahead. Blinking those large blue eyes, as it was pulled down off the shelve, Alanis let them travel to the arm connected to the hand, and then to the body and face. Alanis’ eyes grew wider, as the book was handed toward her, and now in her grasp, but for the moment, the binded pages was not in her interest.

The young woman and long, curly red hair, and a face that looked to have belonged to a very proper and beautiful model Alanis had usually seen in those short TV commercials on the telly at home, whenever she was watching her favorite show. And the clothing she wore, Alanis has noticed, had been up to the same high standards of her looks, appearing to be expensive, and exceedingly fashionable of the time. The young blonde had come to realize that the fine-looking female was a fellow Ravenclaw at school, who’s name had been very old-fashioned, but very pretty; Rosaline Windsor. How Alanis had managed to remember that, she had no idea. And when had she gotten so tall?

“U-um… th-thank you,” she mumbled quietly, though trying to ignore her seemingly sarcastic remark about the title of the book. ‘Though I could’ve just gotten a stool…’ The young Ravenclaw had appreciated that the older girl would give her assistance to retrieving the black and silver object, but she would have more than happy to do it herself. But, someone helping another was always a good deed, so that was nothing she could hate her fellow peer with.

Alanis wasn’t used to contact such as this, so she merely let her fingers to turn the lightly colored tan pages, with curvy lettering toward the top. She had a slight shade of pink tinted upon her cheeks, but only by simple embarrassment for her rather anti-social actions. While her blue eyes skimmed the pages, they traced off the flat surface, and casually slid to the high heeled boots that were worn on Rosaline’s feet.

‘So that’s why she seems so tall… hm.’

Rosaline wished the young blonde could see her own face, only because she could not describe it adequately with words. Foolish? No, books were rarely the subject of foolish manner. Amusing? Yes, amusing could serve as an appropriate term for her expression. As Rosaline handed the book to her fellow Ravenclaw, a look of sheer dumbfounded awe replaced the previous face of determination.

It had taken a moment for the girl to realize what had happened. And looking into her face, Rosaline recognized her as Alanis Jensen, an odd little girl who left guite the impression on everyone around her. Maybe Rosaline shouldn't have given her the strange book, was she just fueling the oddity? It wasn't until Alanis uttered a small thanks that she seemed a bit normal. And then, of course she proceeded to act herself.

Rosaline was quite alienated, something she was not used to, but it seemed that Alanis rarely came across regular interaction with human beings. A minute passed before Rosaline realized they were both just standing there, Alanis studying her book, and Rosaline studying the girl herself. 'How strange I must seem,' she thought, as if silently apologizing to Alanis, but then again, 'nothing may seem strange to her.' She finally spoke, breaking what seemed to be an eternity's silence. "'Twas no problem, really, I was just headed out." With a small wave, Rosaline started toward the exit, like she had originally planned. She wasn't quite sure Alanis had seen her pass, as she seemed very absorbed in her new treasure.

This time throught the shop, Rosaline went through the noisy crowd, just to see what what had been going on. It was a pair of Hogwarts students Rosaline didn't know personally. But as the wild redhead yelled and screamed, Rosaline gave a look to the boy that said, 'Sorry, mate'. And just as she finished passing, she shot a confused face at the angry girl, and moved forward toward the door. The girl was making quite a scene.

All-in-all, it had been teh most bizarre time Rosaline had ever had in Flourish & Blott's, or any other book store, for that matter.

User ImageUser Image[ W ] hy was it so hard for the young Ravenclaw to befriend, or even act normally, around her same species? It had come to realization that Alanis never really did do the right things around people, either just staying completely quiet, or just speaking in random riddles that normal people would either decide it would be better off for themselves to stay far away from her, or just… well, in reality, it had always come to that decision. She never really has been social, not an ounce, unless it was either with the TV, her paintbrushes, or Fey, her best friend since she was a young child. So she always came unto people with either shyness and abnormity, or a complete snob with a sarcastic attitude. It all depended on who she was interacting with.

And in this case, it was with a fellow Ravenclaw, who Alanis hasn’t been completely acquainted with, but she had no reason to have dislike. Rosaline had been in the same house since Alanis has joined in at the table, and had always had this beautiful, graceful feeling, that of royalty. Alanis couldn’t help but to admire her beauty, and to always look good in no matter what situation. The blonde girl felt a bit of guilt for not adding a little more friendliness toward her fellow housemate at saying her thanks, as her pale blue eyes watched another possibly normal communication between her and a regular human being walk right out the exit.

Allowing herself to seat down on the hard wood floor, completely ignoring the table and seats placed not far from where she was placed. Alanis heaved out a deep, slightly morose sigh from in between her lips, before allowing herself to indulge herself more into the object in her hands, under her nose. She shooed away the negative feelings and thoughts that were being attracted toward her, and allowed all her attention to be directed at the slight tan printed pages that explained the purpose of the book, an introduction. Yes, this novel had was beginning to stimulate much of her curiosity, and was most definitely going to end up on that register counter. But it wouldn’t hurt just to dig a little bit more deeply into it’s contents, and make positive that it was what she desired, right?

But it wasn’t long before her thoughts roamed around, jumping from one memory, to another. It speared that her mind was frequently running continuously, never stopping. From time to time, Alanis would wish that she could just shut it all off, just shut it down, like an off switch, so she didn’t have to dive even deeper into the empty depressing feelings she often stored up in the back of her calculating brain. But whenever she did have one of those moments where she thought too much, they somehow escape, and chase her into corners, where it took loads of effort to flee.

‘You’ve got to stop digging yourself in, Alanis…’ she chastised herself, hiding her face behind the black book, ‘You’re just letting yourself slip back…’

The bell rung over the head of a hooded figure as he entered the Wizarding Boookstore, a curly headed person trailing behind him. Immeidately he picked out Alice's wicked bright red hair. He followed it own to her hands and smiled, noticing that she was choking none other then Rain Larks. Oh, women of the world are clutching their hearts and having trouble breathing. He thought, referring to the fact that Rain Larks was the desire of many a young woman. Perfectly content to watch, Matthias simply stood there, delighting in Rain's discomfort. Suddenly, he realized having Alice's hands on you wouldn't be discomfort in any way shape or form and began to approach the pair, walking as quickly as his legs carry him without looking like he was in a hurry.

"Madam, I believe this belongs to you." Matthias said, his voice a full octave lower then it usually was. He pointed at Fig, the upper half of his face completely concealed. "I found him in Knockturn Alley, screaming the name 'Alice'-I asked him where I could find this Alice, and he said 'Either Flourish and Blott's or Florean's Ice Cream parlor, sir.' I figured the mother of a boy who called her by her first name must not be a fun-loving type, so I assumed here would be the best place to check-I assume you are the boy's mother...he pointed at you when we entered the store." He said, not showing his face at all through the entire explanation. "You have to be more careful, Miss...he could've been mugged, or even some old hag's potion ingredient right now-or, worst of all, at the wrong end of a Crumple Horned Snorkak(sp?)!" He said, nodding solemnly. It was then that his act fell apart as he begun to laugh. It was a low, hesitant chuckle at first, but it escalated into a full laugh as Matthias removed his hood and looked at Alice with pure amusement dancing in his normally passive, peircing grey eyes.

"Mein Gott...das war sehr lüstig!" Matt said through laughs, his voice lowering slightly due to his sudden language switch. "Um Gottes willen Alice, deine gesicht seiht so Böse-auch deine, Rain-als ich habe erklaren die falsche Geschichte über was war mit Fig passiert!" He said, bracing himself for an armslap-he figured Alice would be mad enough to hit him at this point-a safe assumption concerning the fact that she had been choking Rain before Matt himself had entered.

He looked up at Alice and smiled once more before turning his attention to Rain and nodding in acknowledgement of his presence. "Well, since I couldn't ask Fig earlier, seeing as how he was in mortal peril when I strolled along, a Hero in a Hoodie to save a young Italian boy, how was the Cherry Street summer, lady and gents?" He asked, reverting back to English so he could be understood once again. He crossed his arms on his chest and smiled, waiting for his answer.

((German moment translation time!!

"My God, that was hilarious!"

"Oh my God, your face looked so angry-yours too, Rain-when I told you the fake story about what happened to Fig!"

Thank you.))

[ A ] sigh escaped Rain’s well formed lips as he observed his redheaded female friend, who had momentarily halted the shaking movements she was performing for everyone around them to see. Alice’s wide crystal blue eyes had directed their attention to the side, away from Rain’s own jade eyes. He couldn’t help but to briefly feel a sudden feeling of disappointment; she was no longer paying any attention to him, rather to something else that caught her ever observant and brilliant eyes. He twisted his neck so his face would be facing the same way, jade green eyes following Alice’s.

The grin upon Fig’s lit up face was shining brightly at the sight of his two best friends, and the female of the friends was the same or even more estatic to see him, also. Rain just smiled, reminding himself that he knew Fig would turn up somehow. And here he was, arriving in Flourish and Blott’s, along with… wait, who is that? Rain’s intense jade eyes narrowed slightly at the other figure walking along side of Fig, Their face wasn’t visible. Hiding something, perhaps? An enemy? But why was Fig trailing after the strange visitor like he knew him.

Alice wasn’t particularly paying any attention to the other person, letting her hands drop from Rain’s neck. She let out a happy cry of joy has she wrapped her arms around her little brother’s neck, embracing him tightly, much to Fig’s embarrassment. Rain’s piercing green eyes softened at the sight of Alice being happy, his lips gracing a small barely visible smile, before intensifying and shooting at the other presence before him. He listen at the person’s story, the smile slightly disappearing. Fig ended up in Knockturn Alley, eh? He thought. Was that how Fig had met this rather strange person in the hood? The silver haired boy acknowledged the fact that who ever this was would take the time to help his little Italian friend, but whether or not he was trustworthy… that was a different story.

"FIG! I missed you so much! Why the hell were you in Knockturn Alley?!" Her voice had become saturated with fury at her last inquiry; Knockturn Alley was the LAST place Alice would have thought Fig was.

“Alice, please, this is really embarrassing!” Fig whined, as Alice wouldn’t let go. She, however, let her arms slide away from him, a content smile gracing her wavy lips. Though, her ears suddenly became in tune with the low, almost recognizable voice coming from someone who was talking to her. Woops, is he talking to me? She thought, guilty that she wasn’t exactly listening. However, she quickly regained what he was saying, and nodded, her eyebrows burrowing together with confusion. Though, her eyebrows raised at realizing that he was calling her Fig’s “mother”. This struck a nerve.

“Wait- MOTHER?! My god, do I really look that OLD?!” Alice questioned, a deep frown appearing on her face, as she stared, horrified. However, she stopped her worrying, realizing that whoever this person was had began to chuckle… Why is he laughing?

Her horrified look was rapidly replaced by a look of pure stun at the sight of the face that was now exposed from under that hood: Matt’s face. It changed to pure happiness at the sight of her Ravenclaw buddy from school, an immediate grin spreading from ear to ear, almost hurting her rosy cheeks. She was about to let out an exclaimation of glee, up until Matt had began to speak in… was that German? She didn’t know. All she knew was that she couldn’t comprehend anything he was saying, and this surely ticked her off.

“Matt, I don’t know what the bloody hell you’re saying! Speak ENGLISH!" It was a good thing Matt had braced himself for being hit, because that’s exactly what Alice had done. Her fist punched him on the shoulder, a pursed pout becoming upon her lips. It wasn’t intended to hurt, but more in a playful manner, but with Alice, everything she did was slightly violent. Rain watched, crossing his arms across his chest, eyebrows raised somewhat, though there was a minor jaded feel to his emerald eyes. Sure, he knew that Matt was Alice’s AND Fig’s friend, and they were actually pretty fond of him. But to Rain, Matt was getting really close to them… especially Alice. And he was getting TOO close. Fig just grinned stupidly in the background, happy to just be back in the presence of all his friends.

The fiery redhead let out an exasperated sigh, before letting a reluctant beam appear. She was, in fact, happy to see her Ravenclaw friend. But she felt a little bad for hitting him. Even if it was completely his fault.

“Sorry… our summer? Ehh… it was alright. Mostly just lazily eating ice cream and messing around with the muggle kids at the par-

"It was GREAT!" Fig interupted, his chocolate brown eyes showing enthusiasm that was almost eerily cheerful, "We had so much fun!"

"Er-yeah, Fig." she let out a light laugh at Figgie's view on their vacation, but quickly changed the subject, "And what about yours? … I see your hair is as curly and messy, as usual.” she added, jokingly, flashing him a rather cheeky grin. One thing that she loved about Matt was his hair. Or was it those dark, piercing grey eyes? Who knew. Maybe she was just happy to see him.

Rain gave Matt a slightly bored nod, blinking at his question. He didn’t bother to add in on their summer; why should he? It wasn’t like he was Matt’s friend, like Alice or Fig. His little Gryffindor female could spill in on their summer on their street for all he cared. He just stood there, mouth becoming dry. He felt a surge of jealousy start in his veins, the blood rushing and boiling. Matt was becoming dangerously close.

Matt rubbed his arm and grinned at Alice. "Honestly, Alice-you should have seen the look on your face! It was priceless. 'My God, do I look that old!?'" He said in a high, mocking tone, doing a poor imitation of Alice's own voice, attempting also to imitate the look she had on her face. Matt then grinned as Alice attempted to answer his question about her summer-and was interrupted by Fig's manic tone. "Judging by the enthusiasm, Alice-I'm gonna have to trust the kid's analysis on this one." He saaid, amiably pointing at Fig. His grey eyes it up with joy as only Alice and Fig could make them-as often as he was around Masika and Zaidin, he could never consider Masika a friend-thus, his best friends in the entire school were Alice and Fig-they made him wish the stupid hat had placed him in Gryffindor instead of Ravenclaw "Oh, come on Rain-whenever I'm around, all you do is give me the bad eye. Look, I promise right here, right now, that I won't take your friends away-well, scratch that-I won't take Fig away." He half-joked, smiling and raising his eyebrows playfully at Alice. "Seriousy, man...you're like...way youing on the parade right now-so relax. Don't do it. Unless you wanna go through it."

Matthias grinned broadly at Alice's comment on his hair before placing his hands behind his head and grinning in mock pride. "Yes, I suppose it is, isn't it? Do you know that it took me approximately eight hours to get the look I have? Yet some say guys don't care about their hair." He said, giving a mock snort with the last sentence. In all honesty, he didn't have the slightest notion of what his hair even looked like. For all he knew/cared, a House Elf could have shaved one half off the night before while he was asleep. "You know, I keep it curly just for you, Alice." He said, giving her an overexaggerated wink and smile combo. God, Alice just makes life so interesting...and she hits pretty hard. He thought, his arm throbbing slightly.

"My summer, eh? Well...um..." Matt said as his mind tried to find something significant he had done over the summer. After several seconds of thinking, he shrugged and then began to scratch the side of his head. "I, uh...oh yeah! Me and my mom went to Schlitterbahn! It was pretty awesome, I'd have to say. Very wet." He said, once more putting his hands behind his head. His eyes began to wander around the store as he pondered on what to do next. He had two options: stay with Alice and Fig or go fin someone else to pester. He began to weigh the pros and cons of each option...and Alice and Fig definitely won out, even with the con of Rain. Just treat him like he doesn't exist...maybe he'll go away. He thought, employing massive amounts of flase hope to the situation. He brought his orbs back downward to Alice's bright hair and smiled. He loved her hair-it was almost as unique as she was...and nowhere near as amazing or memorable. The smile stayed on his face even as he tore his eyes away from her. "Jeden Tag, wunschte ich das ich kann dich und Fig gesehen...und jetzt ich kann." He muttered, smiling sadly as he reverted back to German to keep Alice from understanding the sappy comment he had just made.

"So, where to?" Matt asked, snapping out of his German Moment and smiling happily once more.

"Every day, I wished that I could see you and Fig...and now I can."

After purchasing her desired novels - five of them - and taking the paper bag from the clerk, Bailey turned to head out the door, when she spotted another two coming in. One was wearing a hood that shrouded his face, but the other - 'Oh my gosh he's so cute!' she thought, stopping in her tracks to watch the scene that followed. Bailey almost felt bad about eavesdropping, but she couldn't help it! Aunt Susan had said to meet her at the Magical Menagerie, and Bailey had time to spare before she had to leave. From the conversation she gathered that the cute boy's name was Fig - 'What an odd name. I wonder if it's short for anything,' she thought - the girl with the red hair was called Alice, the handsome older-looking boy was Rain, and the one in the hood, who Bailey now saw to be another older boy, was named Matt. She stood there a moment, completely forgetting where she was, and looked on, making mental notes of Fig's features. Curly brown hair, brown eyes, and a friendly face - he looked somewhat Italian.

As the paper bag slipped from her hand, Bailey recalled where she was. The bag ripped as it hit the floor, and books scattered everywhere, and Bailey immediately crouched down to retrieve them. 'How embarrassing!' she thought.

Out of the corner of his eye, Matt saw Bailey's bag fall, in what looked like slow motion. He turned his head as the bag fell, noting the marvellously hilarious look of 'oh crap, they're falling, and there's nothing I can do about it' that crossed the features of the young-looking girl. Violently, he struggled to hold back his laughter-had he known the girl, he would have laughed outright, but to lessen her embarassment, he struggled to get control of himself. After a second's struggle, he achieved his calm and held up a finger, giving his friends the universal 'just a second' gesture as he, valiant to the end, walked over to the poor girl, crouching down beside her. He then proceeded helping her pick up her books.

"Well...someone's an avid reader." Matthias chuckled hesitantly and quietly-he could actually be quite...reserved when he didn't know a person. He stood up after picking up a whole two books and held out a book-filled hand-not to help her up, but to give her her books back. He knew she could stand on her own, and would probably resent being offered help standing when she hadn't even fallen. A thought struck him and he spun on his heel to look at Fig. "'Ey, Figgy-boy...get me a paper bag from the counter, would ya?" He asked in his low, rumbly voice before turning back to Bailey and giving her a slow, sypathetic smile. Changing his mind, Matt then held his other hand out, silently offering to hold all of her books until Fig came with the brand new bag.

At this point, Matt finally took a good look at her face...and his smile grew a little. She was pretty-way out of his age range, but she was definitely cute. It wasn't a creepy, ***** reaction, but more of a 'wow, she'll be gorgeous when she get's older.' Instead of a sense of attraction, Matt felt a sense of...what was it? Pride? No...why would he be proud of her? He shook off the feeling and continued to wait for Fig to come back with the bag.

Bailey smiled weakly as Matt came over and helped her retrieve her books, and commented that she was an avid reader. "Thank you," she said quietly, as he handed her the books. She stood up, feeling her knees creak under the added weight of the literature in her arms. With her free hand she straightened out her dress, and as she stood waiting for Fig to come back with the bag, she twisted her foot in the black ballet-style shoe on the wooden floor.

Matt made a gesture as to take the books back from her, but she said, "Thanks, but I can hold them - Thank you." Geez! How many times could she say thank you? Bailey was sure she couldn't be quite thankful enough. 'He's really nice!' she thought.

Bailey sighed, and ran her fingers through her hair. 'Why must I always be such a dork?' she thought. She adjusted her dress again, and pulled on the hem of her black leggings. 'Well, quite a way to introduce myself. I'll probably have to see these people every day for the rest of my years at Hogwarts, and they'll probably remember me as the awkward little girl who dropped her books while eavesdropping on them.' Once again she sighed deeply, biting the inside of her lip as she waited for the paper bag.

[ “I ] so did NOT look OR sound like that, you jerk!" Alice, though irritated at his mocking manner toward her horrified reactions, couldn't help but to have a large beam plastered on her face. It appeared that this was always how she felt around Matt; happy, couldn't stop smiling, and he seemed to make her laugh with whatever he did or said. The redheaded girl just continued to grin and laugh at Matthias' blatant flirtatious remarks, and only more so when he came on to Rain, practically telling her silver-haired friend that there was a possibility that Matt could steal her away from him, but not Fig; Rain didn't look to amused.

Rain merely snorted in response to Matt, rolling his jaded over eyes, continuing to cross his arms over his chest. This was why he didn't like him. Every time he's around, Alice and Fig are SO happy, and it's always fun and laughter. Sure, it was basically the same here whenever he's with the two younger students, but when another came along, and could pull the same reaction... well, you could imagine the boiling mixture of emotions stirring around inside of Rain. Especially when Matt had so deliberately straight out told him that he was going to steal Alice away, which was definitely NOT okay with him. Yes, he perfectly knew that he didn't own her, neither Fig, and he wasn't at all the possessive of the jealous type, but... he couldn't help but to feel envious. He wanted to be the one making Alice laugh and smile. He wanted to be the one that Fig looked up to. He wanted them. And he did have them... only this younger by one year male was a threat to Rain.

"Yeah, Rain, lighten up a little," Alice joined in, still snickering from behind her hand from Matt's flirtatious gesture, "It's only Matt."

"Exactly." Rain stated, less that enthusiastic, not even bothering to reply to "the threat". In one swift movement, Rain came parallel to Alice's small body, the comparison looking quite strange by their differences in height. He was facing the other way, but he brought his lips to her ear, a strange, dangerous glint in his green eyes burned deep as he cast Matt a lethal glare.

"I'll find you in a little while. Just don't let Fig, or you're self, get into too much trouble... with him." he spoke softly, but the last word stated had a slight hiss to it, showing his distrust for the other male, besides Fig, in their presence. Though a soft smile graced his lips when Alice gave him a short nod, showing him the same curiously of a smile, his eyes darted severely toward Matthias. Alice's blue eyes intensified with fury for a split second at realization of Rain's actions, before giving him another nod, turning back to Fig, who was watching with a worried look, the smile slightly lessened somewhat, and Matt, who she knew was most likely happy as ever that their other male companion had fled. Rain was out of Flourish and Blott's before she could even blink.

The redheaded female quickly regained the cheek-aching smile at Matt's comment about his hair. And also at the newly added teasing gesture in her direction she could now add upon her list. "Well, in that case, I demand you keep it that way. Because your Highness requests you to," sticking her nose high in the air, she gave him a superior, yet playful look.

“Schlitterbahn? Where is tha‘?” Fig questioned, curiosity burning in his chocolate eyes. His speech being extra impaired due to the many small pieces of fruity hard candy he had stuffed in the side of his cheek; Alice gave him a quizzical look, arching an eyebrow, wondering how he managed to grab a hold of candy when his parents‘ banned him from them from the incident that occurred not that long ago. Fig had a little too much sugar. Where’d he get those?

Completely ignoring the question Fig asked earlier, the curly haired boy proceeded the grin stupidly, beginning to feel giddy about what the three of them should do. “Let us go to Florean’s! I want ice cream!” Alice let out a sigh in response, before smiling sympathetically at her “little brother’s” innocent desire, before letting her fingers tousle his brown curly locks.

“We can’t Fig. We haven’t even started our shopping, because Rain and I were looking for you. And you were all lost in Knockturn Alley doing God knows WHAT.” She muttered a few words under her breath, sound a lot like “Plus, the money I had is only for school... otherwise, I'm broke.” but didn’t dare say it too loud.

Hearing a noisy crash of books, Alice and Fig turned both their heads in the direction of the commotion. Alice started cackling in unison with Matt at the sight of the poor girl being stuck in a complete stupor, not even caring if those around her would be giving her weird looks. Fig let out a muffled chuckle from behind his tightly shut lips. Both had, however, halted their laughter when a finger rose in their faces from Matt, meaning he was most likely going to do another good deed today. What a good guy. Alice thought, hesitantly moving to follow him, but stopped. She crossed her arms, observing the act before herself and Fig, who was momentarily staring with a curious glint in his eyes.

The young girl didn’t look over the age of 12, but still had features of a young woman. She had rosy cheeks, long brown hair, and lips that looked to be too addictive for a young girl her age; reminded the short redhead of a porcelain doll that deserved to be set up on a shelf, because she appeared too fragile to be touched… no matter how creepy it was (Alice doesn‘t like dolls). What a pretty little girl… she thought, a soft smile spreading on her wavy, pink lips. Though the young girl had been Alice’s attention for a short while, her sky sapphire eyes drifted unknowingly to her Ravenclaw friend, helping oh so nicely with the small doll. The smile widened, but no teeth her shown.

Fig was watching, mouth half-opened, and chocolate eyes watching the stunning, helpless female. She looked young… maybe too young for the curly haired Gryffindor. But that didn’t mean that he could play the prince for the unaided princess, of course! (even if Matthias had gotten to her first)

The Italian boy jumped from his spot, about to assist with the doll and his older male friend, but when Matt had requested of him to get a paper bag, he pouted, but did as he was told. Fetching a large paper bag from the store cashier, Fig came back with a generous grin set on his young, bright face as he approached the young brunnette and Matt.

“Let me take these; I will help,” he, almost begged, quickly, taking all of the quite heavy books from her arms, and gently setting them in the brown paper bag, before letting a hint of interest spark in his chocolate eyes as they roamed her face. She’s so cute! How old is she…? What’s her name!?

“Ahaha, you alrigh’ there, porcelain?” Alice questioned, already giving her a nickname; she had no idea what her name was. She had managed to make her way into the scene as Fig generously lent a hand with Matt, figuring she should do the same. Setting her hand on the small girls’ shoulder, though their was probably a small difference in height, Alice let out a light chuckle, shaking her head. Fig was now carrying the load of books in the paper bag, though not by the handles. He supported the bottom with her hands, but the weight of all of them was making the smile upon his young features very difficult to remain.

“You sure do look like you enjoy… reading… at such a young age?” Alice half joked, an uneasy, yet kind smile appeared on her wavy lips. The girl looked no older than 11, and already she had a ton of books boughten. Even if she was a bookworm, at her age, that was a lot. Or maybe it was because Alice wasn't particularly fond of reading books at all, unless they really came across to her with great interest.

(( AHHHH. This post killed me. Sorry for taking a little while; it was very diffucult. But, I love the situation. It's definitely setting some plot. I actually think Alice and Fig will become close to Baily. I may change those relationship forms. Haha. ))
