Ever been bullied? Family or friends? In the work place, school, sporting team, club you belong to, partner?

I myself was bullied by a few people who I worked with and I did nothing and told no-one. I thought the best way of coping was to pretend that it wasn't happening and I was scared that it would get worse if I did.

However, now my views have changed. My kids have also been bullied by other kids at school and I have tried to get them to stand up to their bullies (not easy to do) and to definitely tell a teacher. I don't want them cowering all their lives, doubting themselves like I have.

Yup. I was the victim of many a bulley in school. Stupid me always trying to stick up for the underdog got me in lots of trouble. But what did I know? I had a mother that was a bulley and it was all I knew. Luckily I married well and he showed me life didn't have to be that way but when we first got married I didn't know that lesson yet and allowed my boss to bulley me around until I would just come home every night and cry myself to sleep. I didn't last very long there and finally quit but it was a hard lesson to learn that's for sure.

I was bullied growing up. In the third grade there was this really big fifth grade girl who used to terrorize me because I had long hair. She even had a group of her friends chase me home from school one day,it was really scarry.I used to pretend I was sick so I could leave before the bell rang,of course the teachers caught on,they called our parent's in for a 'meeting'(that only made it worse). After about two months of getting my hair pulled, being tripped in the halls, and hiding;I finally stood up for myself. My cousin (an even bigger eighth grader) taught me how to fight.Let's just say although I don't condone violence, she left me alone after she was embarrassed in front of the school by having a third grader(Me ninja )kick her butt! twisted

While I don't condone violence either, sometimes it's the only way. My youngest son was very nervously telling me that a year 10 kid was going through his bag and he confronted him verbally, then punched and kicked him. I was very proud of my son for that cos he's only in year 8 and he succeeded in not only humiliating this guy, but stopping the bullying from going any further.

Wow, that must have been very hard growing up then. Congrates on finding a terrific partner. It makes a difference when some one believes in you.

Am so glad of that. It's the pits having to drag yourself into work every day when you know you're going to be faced by abuse.

I wonder what really drives bullies and stalkers? Having been neither, I don't understand how they could get their kicks from hurting people.
