Why?
Why sould Naruto and Shika have a relationship? For numerous reasons!
1. It's just plain cute
2. Naruto needs someone like Shika to keep him cool and calm during tough situations as well as in everyday life.
3. Shika needs someone to keep him on his toes and ready for anything. And Naru's unpridictability would do just that.
4. They share something more than just friendship! You can so tell!

How?
How could they become a couple?
1. The hospital plays a big role in their relationship. if you remember Shikamaru was the first one to visit Naruto.
2. During the Sasuke retreval ark, Shikamaru is always think about the team, but mostly Naruto.
3. The incident in the hospital with Gaara
4. The inccidents during the third exams.
See, lots of oppertunities to confess their love!

I absolutely love ShikaNaru. It and KakaShika are currently battling it out in my brain for favourite pairing but they both win their individual categories. ShikaNaru wins my Shika!Slash category; KakaShika, my Shika!Shota category.
Anyway, I like this because it is cute. Naruto is hyperactive and Shikamaru is lazy, they balance each other. Naruto is also a bit oblivious about a lot of things and Shikamaru picks up a lot (though he couldn't tell that Naruto had grown so much in the Naru/Kiba fight). Shikamaru would definitely always complain about how troublesome Naruto is (even though he's troublesome himself) but Naruto would probably never really take him on because he knows he loves him. 3nodding The balance is the perfect reason for ShikaNaru. Plus, when you write ShikaNaru it looks and sounds sort of like Shikamaru. XD
