I've just been wondering, how did everyone get started reading Dragonlance? I'm sure most of you started because of D&D, but I donno...I'm bored and curious (lol I'm Kender-like when I'm bored...)
I got started purely by accident. It actually kind of scares me how easily I could have never started reading Dragonlance...
I was at a garage-sale in my neighborhood one day, and me, being the bibliophile I am, was rummiging through the box full of books. Most of them were crap. But there was one that looked cool. It was Dragon Wing, the first volume in the Death Gate Cycle. Me, being obsessed with anything related to dragons, bought it and read it and looked for more. I soon finished the Death Gate Cycle, and wanted to read more by the same authors. So I went to the library, and searched, and a whole bunch of Dragonlance books popped up (I was searching on a computer) and I read them and was addicted and that is my story. But if I had simply overlooked Dragon Wing, or went to a different garage-sale, or stayed home that day, I would probably have never read Dragonlance. I would have never became a Raist fangirl. Scary thought (though probably a happy thought for Raist...)

I found 2 books at walden books at the mall,thought they looked good,2years later I read them and havn't stopped.Also I've submitted myself in the arena,if you all would vote 10 for me I'd appreciate it.

Was asked if I wanted to start a D&D campaign based inthe Dragonlance realm. I had no clue what he was talking about but had been wanting to try out this D&D thing so I joined.
After we made it to around Icewall in the campaign I started reading the books, since I was having sooo much fun.
It was also helarious how far from cannon we went since none of us had much prior Dragonlance knowledge.
but anyway... after I read the Chronicles (that followed at least half our campaign and be "basics" of the rest of it) I went into the Legends and so on. I've been hooked since, though I'm having issues reading the first book of the "War of the Souls" trillogy.

Dude, that is awesome! Its good to have things in common intrest with your 'rents. I'm still trying to convince mom into reading these books, she's not sure its a good thing. Same here. My parents just aren't interested in fantasy-type stuff like I am. They're interested in Home & Garden type crap that I couldn't care less about.

bludrgn0 thank you guys for saying that my experience is awsome! blaugh It is awsome! I know I'd love it if my family liked Dragonlance! That would so pwn! Then I'd force them to convert the house into a replica of the Tower of High Sorcery at Palanthas. I'd even get a dummy in black robes to spear itself on our fence (which we don't have...). But seriously, I did try to get them to convert the house, and needless to say, I failed. crying whee But when I'm old enough to have my own house (which will be a long way in coming, seeing as how I'm only 13), I'm gonna buy a tower-type one and convert it. And it will PWN!!!!! mrgreen

Well, my mom IS into "Fantasy-type stuff"... she is the one who got ME into it when I was younger. She's just afraid to get infringe upon "My thing" since Dragonlance is one of the few things that I'm interested in that is "mine alone" and none of my other sibs are into it yet.
