Now, I wont claim to be any sort of Pokeshipping fan. Satoshi/Kasumi doesnt do much for me in the way of romance. They really seem like Brother/Sister to me.
But there seems to be a lot of debate about the canon-ness of the Ash/Misty hints that appear in the anime. I haven't watched the Japanese dub enough to really be able to say myself, but from rather reliable sources...it seems that almost all the hints are completely Dub-added. The Japanese creators dont seem to support the couple much?
Can any AAML fans point out a reasonable Japanese hints? Why or why not are you a fan of the couple?

Episode 275 - Original Kasumi Flashback and Departure Scene ClipTaken from episode 275, Farewell...and then Setting Off!
This clip features the ORIGINAL flashback of Kasumi's, not the AAML Flashback. It focuses more on Kasumi as a trainer and the music is on BGM.
Also in this clip is where Takeshi, Satoshi, and Kasumi depart.Uploaded by moi~ XD

-The Ghost of Madien's Peak was a very important episode as far as far as being Pro multiple ships. The end of the episode definitely had a romantic undertone for Satoshi and Kasumi. But Satoshi not being affected by the Maiden's spell, like Takeshi and James (yep I like TR's Dub names better :D) were, points that Satoshi might not quite be attracted to women.

I don't hate the couple, I just hate it when people think that it's 100% canon and the series will end with the two of them getting married or something along those lines...
It's not like I don't like Pokeshippers either, as long as you aren't pushy or obnoxious in your beliefs (that applies to all other ships as well)
But yes, pretty much ALL of the "hints" were purely an English invention because 4kids liked the idea razz
Ash and Misty isn't my favorite pairing with either Ash or Misty so I can't say that I like the pairing. It strikes me as a bit cliche and I'm not exactly sure why ^^; I can see why people like the idea though.
As for reasonable Japanese hints of the pairing? None that I know of...wich is probably why it has little fanbase in Japan. Unless you want to delve into Pokemon Adventures wich is a diffrent series entirely where Misty has a crush on Red.

I do not have any japanies proof, and do know a lot of dubing was done to make it seems that way(Why esle did I grow up on it?) but I do know there is most likely Misty likes Ash but since from what I can tell they still act like Ash is a kid, they probably planned that since Ash is so young, that they wouldn't pair him up in the anime. Even if you think about it, when you were 10, were you thinking about some one of the opposite gender, or thinking about playng games with friends? Even though this disproves my fav. shipping a bit, there is only proof that Ash has his thoughts more on beating his rivals and becoming a Pokemon Master, there is a possibility that eventualy Ash will end up with some one, but not as far as I can see unfortunutly. I'd try to get proof if I could, but I doubt the subbing of the japanies verions will be any better at getting proof. I might be able to help others though. A "friend" on Gaia gave me a link to a site that lead to a site-thingy that had some animes in Japan and English for comparing only. If you want to check it out, pm me and I might send it to you.

In anycase this clip seems to point more towards Takeshi/Satoshi, there the ones who ended up both teary eyed at the departure, where as Misty is more carefree about it.

COMPLETELY agree with the brother/sister and best friends relationship. I think it's only that kind of love they share. I think even if they did become an actual couple (for some odd reason, because we all know Ash is MUCH more into Pokémon than girls), they'd end up spliting up, but still being friends.

I am a tiny PokeShipper...however, I do agree that the hints were added on in the dub. Therefore, shippers often like Ash x Misty. They like Ash x Misty, NOT Kasumi x Satoshi. I'm a fan of both, sort of...er, I mean...I think Misty/Kasumi might have a crush on Ash/Satoshi, small as it may be. I don't ship anyone else with these two, so they're good together in my book. =]

I think that it depends on what you think is shippy, and I think a lot of the evidence is put in the dub (ie: Jirachi Movie, the songs). I don't really think ALL of it is, and I'm sure some of it is unconfirmed (ie: From the heartbreak of brock: The someday you and I will be married too! I think that line is unconfirmed, is it?) The whole TR saying that they were lovebirds causing them to blush, I think was in the Japanese version. The "Tower of Terror" ep had Brock worried about Pikachu with Misty worried about Ash and the thought of him dieing had her crying. The second movie Melody kissed Ash and she was very jealous, but in the fifth movie she was only shocked that Ash was kissed, maybe her crush has died down? In the Macey episode, she split them up when Macey grabbed Ash's hands, jealousy maybe?
Of course the whole Cerulean blue/Delcatty episode/Buizel could be or not be considered shippy.

Honestly, I think that Misty's song is a beautiful song even if it's dub aided/non canon. Even though its fanon, I'd like to think there's that depth to Misty's character. I'm actually pretty mad that Misty and Ash's partnership abruptly ended the way it did because of the emotional potential they had, even if only as friends. (As well as Ash leaving pretty much all his pokemon too for the same reason :< FAIL). I think that even though it's dub aided, it's not that far a stretch to say Misty considered Ash romantically in their long travels and later disregarded it. Even the palletshipping site can admit that she had a crush and gotten over it.
In some ways, it's kind of realistic though. If you have a crush on someone and and you never get the guts to tell them, chances are you'll move seperate ways, especially if it's teens/preteens like ash/misty. That's life, people grow up.
