Okay I have read one or two post here and would like to point out the following.
1.) Immortals Can die.. How you ask? They can Die from being Stabbed,Shot,Drowned ETC.. But Once the Thing killing them is removed Then the will heal and come back to life.. EXAMPLES!: Remeber that german dude they killed shoved in a bag and through in the river? Well they showed he had woken up in the bag but was ignored.. and thrown in the river..Cause of death then was the River from drowing..He did not come back to life until the cause of death was removed when he washed up on shore.. EXAMPLE!: remember that egyptian girl? Well she poisoned herself and was then Placed in a normal coffin for egyptians and remained "Dead" Till Duncan opened the coffin and let her out..
SO Please Keep these in mind when Roleplaying You Can DIE! But Untill cause of death is removed You can not come back... So if you are stabbed to death Knife left in you and your thus thrown into a river Sorry babes you cant come out until your washed up on shore and said Knife is removed or some how magically removed in the water...

Yep, I know all that. I didn't think I needed to be that specific since the opening narration of the movies and the series clearly state that the only way they can die is by losing their heads, and so was only refering to Permanent Death in my CISs.
I'll update them accordingly. Thanks.
BTW, drowning is not a permanent death until exposed to air. If the Immortal regains consciousness after drowning but still under water, he can become acclaimated to his enviroment. See the original HIGHLANDER movie: Conner revives at the bottom of the loch. Also, in the series, Duncan was shot and thrown off a bridge with his hands cuffed. He walked along the bottom (not shown) until he could walk onto the shore. Scared the crap out of little Benny, let me say! rofl

OK, to make it a little less confusing, let's just say this: an Immortal can 'die' like drowning or stabbing, etc, but they will revive once the conditions of the death are removed. If stabbed, the Immortal revives once the knife is removed. A drowned Immortal revives once he's taken out of the water.
Remember, when they made the first movie, the producers weren't expecting to go any further, so details like Connor at the bottom of the loch weren't fleshed out too far. In the first movie, getting stabbed hurt like heck, but didn't do more than that. In the loch, Connor couldn't breathe, but he didn't need to, either. In the first movie, the Immortals were more literally Immortal than in the series.
And if anyone mentions crap from Highlander II, their head will be added to my museum. biggrin

I don't know if I would say the knife has to be removes unless it were in a very fatal area. My reasoning for this comes from when Tessa first learned of Duncan's immortality, shot him, and with the bullet still inside him, he revived. Not only that, but there have been numerous other examples of Immortals being shot or taking bullets, dying, and then reviving without my knowledge at least, of the bullets ever being removed.
If I am absolutely wrong, feel free to let me know. I'm always up for learning new things. But being that bullets not removed from an Immortal, and the Immortal still revives, I would imagine that a knife wound stuck into say a stomach, with the Immortal not removing it and dying, I would think he'd still revive. Were it in the skull or stuck in the spine, then yeah I would agree, it'd probably have to be removed.
Like I said though, those are just my conclusions and observations. What do you think?

I agree with Gabe on the bullets. From what I've seen, Immortals either heal around the bullets or expell them. A knife has to be in a vital organ to keep the Immortal "dead" 'til it's removed, otherwise he would revive and pull it out before it "killed" him again.

When they made the first movie they weren’t planning on making more, but it still remains the most canon in my opinion. All the movies except the second movie (which doesn’t exist) supercede the TV show and the TV shows supercedes everything else ( cartoons, books etc.).
So Connor reviving at the bottom of the loch is important.
It should be explained somehow.

In the first movie when Connor is training he is pushed off a boat and says he cant swim. He quickly sinks to the bottom but does not drown but instead he walks ashore.
